☀️Let’s BEAT the HEAT!🌤️

The warmer weather is coming! And we are super excited 😎 However with the warmer weather increases the risk of over heating and heat stroke in dogs! But don’t panic! BVC is here to help!
Here are a few signs and symptoms to look out for and what you need to know during summer months…

😎20*C is considered a safe temperature for young healthy dogs
😎At risk breeds and ages include
- Puppies/young dogs
- Senior dogs
- Over weight dogs
- Dogs with underline health conditions
- Flat faced/ Brachycephalic breeds
😎 Signs of struggle and over heating
- Excessive amounts of panting
- Hyper salivation/excessive drooling
- Weakness and agitation
- Increased heart rate
- Vomiting and diarrhoea
😎 Signs of Heat Stroke
- Bleeding from the nose or mouth
- Disorientation
- Bright red gums
- Seizures
- Collapse

☀️Summer is coming!☀️

With the warmer weather coming it’s important to remember to keep our dogs safe and cool

Here are a few tips to help…

☀️Avoid warm walks
☀️NEVER leave your dog in your car 🚗
☀️ Provide cooling mats around the house
☀️ Allow access to shaded areas
☀️Don’t cover them with towels and allow them to pant to regulate their body temperature
☀️Always provide access to water throughout the day
☀️ Test the ground/pavements during walks 🐕

Meet David, our newest member of the team ! 🩺

Dave is a very experienced vet who enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery.He will be working alongside Sarah and John as a permanent member of the vet team.
Dave has two rescue cats and a bouncy bearded collie to keep him busy at home.
His passion is hill walking and exploring the wilds of the Scottish Highlands with his family. To let off steam he also races sailing dinghies locally.
He looks forward to meeting you and your pets! 🐈 🐕 🐇

🥳 We have had a fabulous day celebrating with you all- thank you so much for popping in and raising a glass with us today as we celebrated our 20th Anniversary. We hope you enjoy your party bags! 🍬 🎉

1st December 2003 we opened the doors to a new veterinary practice in Bridgnorth and waited for the phone to ring!

20yrs on and the phone doesn’t stop!

I am so grateful to all our wonderful clients with their lovely pets. Every day is different and over the years we have seen the whole spectrum of emotions, but on the whole it has been a joy to look after some of the 4 legged population of Bridgnorth.
We hope to continue to be a thriving independent business within the community and thank everyone for their support 💟

Odi is a 3 month old Dachshund who popped in to see Lynne this morning for his weight check for his wormer. Isn’t he the cutest?!! 💜

The lovely Alfie came in today for a dental scale and polish 🧼!

His owner asked if we minded getting a swab sample from inside his cheek while he was asleep for her to send off for DNA testing 🧬 as he’s a bit spicy for her to try and do awake!

We can’t wait to see what the results are!!

Holly – Receptionist
Holly joined the BVC team in January 2022. She previously worked at Bridgnorth Hospital as a receptionist.
Holly has three cats and a 2 dogs, and is married with two daughters. In her spare time she enjoys going on long walks with her family, listening to music and cooking.

Manti joined the team in September 2021 as a full time receptionist. She previously worked for Bridgnorth Medical Practice. She has two lurchers, Daisy and Maggie who love long country walks. In her spare time she likes walking and creating things out of recycled timber.

Help! I can’t give my cat a worming tablet!

🐈 Struggling to give your cat their worming tablet? 💊 Lots of you usually bring your cats to us to be wormed by one of the nurses, but obviously at the moment this is unfortunately not possible so we are getting lots of you asking for help and advice on how to go about giving your cats their worming tablets at home. Here’s a short video demonstrating how this can be done at home in a stress free way. We hope it helps!! Give it a go and let us know how you get on!!
