Job Description:
Lorockmor Working Dogs is currently seeking a Pet Obedience Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for training and developing obedient and well-behaved dogs for our clients. This position requires a strong understanding of canine behavior, positive reinforcement training techniques, and excellent communication skills to work with both dogs and their owners.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement training programs to address behavioral issues and improve obedience in dogs
- Conduct individual and group training sessions for dogs of various breeds and ages
- Assess each dog's behavior and progress to tailor training methods accordingly
- Educate dog owners on proper handling and reinforcement techniques to continue training at home
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions and progress for each dog
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices in dog training
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a dog trainer or behaviorist
- Certification in dog training or related field is preferred but not essential
- Strong knowledge of canine behavior and positive reinforcement training methods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for dogs
- Physical stamina and ability to handle dogs of varying sizes and energy levels
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- A demonstration of your own dogs training will be required
