I have received quite a few enquiries about class Scentwork dates for March 2025.Therefore I am now informing early to let people know dates and times.

I have created Foundation booking links as the main enquiries are coming from people who are interested in starting classes. So Foundation folks are able to book.

For Inter regs ( Intermediate regulars ) this is our maintenance and development class for our Detection Dogs .I have created 2 groups running alternate Monday evenings.I hope the benefit of this is that all Detection Dog Teams have the opportunity to join Inter regs.

We went for a beautiful and muddy walk yesterday up at Chew Magna.
Brawdie has never encountered kissing gates and these seem to be the favoured ones in this part of Bath and NE Somerset.Sylvie was a great role model.
So a great positive learning opportunity.
We used a jackpot party after Brawdie manoeuvred the gates. your liver treats came in very handy.

Well done to Brawdie passing Bronze Good Citizen, followed by a celebration walk at the Cheddar Reservoir.Blowey and wet- flatcoat weather.

Massive thanks to Jude Irvine Woof Its Dog Training, Wells our teacher.

If you are thinking about starting the Good Citizen learning with your dog, I can Highly Recommend Jude.
Jude is a qualified APDT Instructor with her advanced level qualification with the APDT.
She is dog centred and force free.Woohoo.
Her teaching is fun and helps you and your dog in the real world
She has a lovely indoor / outdoor training venue along with a training paddock

You can see that Jude loves what she does and is so respectful and supportive of your dog's needs in class.
We are coming back for more- Fun learning to get us ready for the Silver Assessment

For folks who expressed an interest in Foundation classes and have not booked this time .I will open up March Foundation classes mid January.

SCENTWORK CLASSES Diary dates are now set for January Scentwork Terms. I have a list of folks to send out new Foundation Scentwork invites to. Dog teams currently working with me will receive an invite to their next level in January by email. Detection Club members news and updates will follow by sepererate email too. New folks- If you would like to be involved in the exciting Scentwork adventure then please let me know by what's app or message below.Classes are held at East Huntspill Village Hall, either search events held in the Taunton and Bridgwater areas.

Steadiness with 2 dogs.Scentwork exercise.However you can do with gundog for stay with distraction exercise e.g using dummies in cover.Then send them into cover to find the dummies. My aim today- for both dogs to remain steady for me to set up. For the dogs to enjoy themselves and have value in waiting their turn. As then they have their go which gives them a great positive feeling.

DOGS TRAVELLING IN A CAR- HEAT The summer for us becomes stressful as our dogs don't cope well with heat and dislike being hot. Car travel becomes a worry for us if we need to travel with the dogs. So decided to invest in a car fan. I have to admit I was a little skeptical.i thought the power behind the fans would have little impact. We have air conditioning and it works well but never think reaches the back seats as well as I would like for the dogs. Fan arrived yesterday Easy to fit on the back headrest of drivers seat. 2 fan system so can direct in different directions Plugged in at cigarette lighter Turn engine on Switch fan on It worked woohoo The journey- dogs loved it. I fiddled around with fan directions and speed of airflow but otherwise no dramas. What a relief - phewee The next project to try rear side window shades. I will update you.

Foundation Scentwork. 3 teams working on chair searches with kong in a pot ( 3 hides).Kong piece is about an inch in size.All dogs have scent recognition for this odour. Notice the enthusiasm for the search by all the teams :) This is the first time we have done middle height searches.So a great "whoop whoop" for all dog teams
