Thursday night saw our obedience and socialisation group at The Activity Warehouseon Bridgwater… lots of work done with sit and stay .. heel work .. steadiness… dogs learning that not everything in evolves them… that they need to learn to sit quietly whilst their human .. chats to other folks … pours a drink … walks behind another dog … resulting in calm .. steady dogs who can walk to heal and sit and stay and basically be taken everywhere … if you would like to learn more about our groups why not get in touch … TTSW

Our new group …Pre Novice Gundogs started yesterday …. Great turn out and a resounding success as shown by the clients all wanting to book for the next one ….. simple concept .. folks with working breeds … many who have ‘ served their apprenticeship ‘ in our obedience group … wanting to learn the next step about what training a working dog entails … what a shoot involves … even if they never work their dogs they will be able to take their dogs any where and be proud of how they behave in any situation … regardless of if you are interested in our sport or not .. a working Gundog is the best form of training for obedience and connectivity between human and canine …. ❌ RAPESEED! ❌

It’s that time of year again where farmers fields have blossomed into pretty yellow flowers, these plants are called rapeseed. Although it may be tempting to place your dog in the mist to take a scenic photo, please avoid this at all costs!

Rapeseed is extremely poisonous for dogs, especially in highly sensitive canines.

Rapeseed is listed by Dogs Trust as toxic to our dogs if ingested and can cause symptoms such as:

❌ Hemolytic Anemia
❌ Blindness
❌ Damaged Nervous System
❌ Digestive Disorders
❌ Breathing Problems

Even walking through these fields should be avoided! In June 2019, a dog has been reported to suffer from severe open wounds after running through a crop of rapeseed.

Please seek immediate veterinary attention if your dog shows any signs of rapeseed poisoning!
