Our practice is taking part in the Antibiotic Amnesty this November.

What to do if you have leftover or unused antibiotics:
o Return them to your vet practice for safe disposal

o Inappropriate disposal of unused antibiotics could contribute
to antimicrobial resistance and pollute the environment through
waterways, affecting our wildlife

o Don’t ever give your pet, or any pet for which they haven’t been prescribed, left-over or out of date antibiotics. Using antibiotics when not needed could risk side effects, delay an accurate diagnosis for your pet, mean that your pet’s condition
may not be treatable, and contributes to antimicrobial resistance

The 11th November is a day dedicated to honoring military personnel who lost their lives in service to their country. The date commemorates the armistice signed at the end of World War I on November 11, 1918.

Wearing a poppy is a show of support for the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, veterans and their families. It represents all those who lost their lives on active service, from the beginning of the First World War right up to present day.

Beautiful little Ella came in for her vaccinations, flea and worm treatment and to have her nails clipped this week.

This was all included on The Healthy Pet Club which she is a part of 🐾

Coming in for regular nail clips and to be weighed are great opportunities for socialisation and building up positive experiences of being handled in a veterinary environment.

Wednesday 6th November marks National Stress Awareness Day, which seeks to raise awareness of the negative effects that stress can have on our health.

While stress can sometimes serve as a helpful motivator, too much of it can negatively impact our mood, body, and mind.

This is where our pets play an important role: they can greatly help reduce stress and boost mental well-being. Interacting with pets has a soothing effect on the body, helping to lower blood pressure, ease anxiety, and increase feelings of social support.

Petting or cuddling animals can release oxytocin, a hormone that promotes relaxation and bonding, while also lowering cortisol levels, which are linked to stress.

Feeling stressed? Take a few extra moments today to cuddle your pet and ease those feelings of tension.
