What we do and why
This is a polite reminder that we don’t rehome directly from here anymore and we haven’t since pre covid. Why? The dogs are strays with no background information. The rehoming process was come to the kennels, like the dog, pay the rehoming fee, take the dog home. This is simply too dangerous. We don’t have the time to homecheck homes and thoroughly assess the dogs.
This is where we are incredibly greatful to the rescues and contacts we work with. The process - we get the stray in, send photos to our pound puller who then works on our very little information to find the best rescue space suited for that dog. Sometimes this takes weeks but the dog’s best interest is always paramount. During this time we care for them, try and gain additional information on them and they are flea and wormed. When a space becomes available they go off on transport which costs a great deal. It is then over to the rescue to place them in foster homes / kennels until they fully understand the needs of the dog. They are vaccinated, neutered, homes are checked and the dogs get back up from their rescue for life.
We aren’t about making money, the dogs welfare and safety is most important. Yes some of them could be easy rehomes however it wouldn’t be fair to rehome the easy ones and then expect rescues to take dogs from us who require extensive medical work.
As always this isn’t an advertisement to hand your dog in as a stray to get them a home - this isn’t the right way. If you are genuinely looking to rehome a dog - not a snap decision based on how the dog looks on one of our photos - then please consider a rehoming centre. This will free up a much needed space for a stray. Please remember our posts are to find owners and information on the dogs, not to offer them up for a new home.
When the dogs leave us we sit and wait for that all important sofa photo and that is what makes what we do worthwhile ….
