So, what does a petsitter carry with them in that enormous bag. I have just treated myself to a new one, as after nearly 20 years of use my trusty old bag is starting to fall apart. Not sure what the cats will make of my new bag as the old one used to attract interest from nearly all of them with all the interesting cat smells over the years. Click on each photo for explanations!!

I may be a pet sitter, caring for your cats and smaller pets, but I am also very keen to help our wildlife, and will happily put out food for your birds and even hedgehogs. This is my feeding station - trouble is, a very determined small fox has, on two nights, managed to squeeze into this. Unbelievable....

Don't want to speak too soon, but hopefully we will get to enjoy some holidays this year, even if only in the UK. I am available for petsitting so please consider me when looking for someone reliable, with years of experience, to look after your cats and smaller caged animals while you are away. Just to reassure you, if holidays have to be cancelled due to covid restrictions, I wont be charging cancellation fees.

I have copied this from another post, but is very useful info and maybe worth thinking about. Please share so as many pet owners as possible can read this:

The RSPCA recommends displaying a care plan somewhere highly visible, such as on your fridge or mantelpiece, to make it easy for people to see in case of emergency. Pets often hide when paramedics arrive so it's vital they're made aware. It's also a good idea to keep these details on you (such as in a wallet ID window). Planning ahead can mean the difference between your pet being looked after or trapped alone at home without anyone knowing - being prepared saves lives.
'Although no one wants to think about the worst happening, in these strange and challenging times it's important to consider what would happen to our pets if we become ill, are hospitalised, or pass away. Think about who would look after your pets and have a chat with your family, friends and neighbours to make sure they're happy to take on this responsibility.
Take steps to set up a care plan for your pet in the event that you can no longer care for them. Displaying your pet care plan with the contact details of the next of kin will provide vital information about them and ensure that your pets get the care they need.'

** LOST ** Drovers Close, Portslade ** PLEASE SHARE **
Missing since Tuesday 6th October 2020

We received the following details from Ty's worried owner
Ty is a 1 year old ginger and white tabby male, with a distinctive white spot on his back, missing from Drovers Close (off Bush Farm Drive) since Tuesday evening. He is an outdoor boy, who likes to go into the woods between his house and the A293, as well as enjoying visiting neighbours gardens, but he has never wandered off like this before. Ty is neutered and microchipped, no collar as he always loses them.

Please help us to reunite Ty by checking bushes, gardens, sheds, garages, basements, outdoor storage areas etc and if you do see him, Please contact us on 01273 422721, Thank You

Feeling particularly sad after hearing this morning that dear little Angel passed away a couple of days ago. I knew her time was approaching but still feel so sad, and especially for her human family who will miss her so much. I have known her since 2008 when she was 10. Angel reached an amazing 22 years of age. RIP Angel.

It has been so nice to be back petsitting, and seeing my feline friends again. I have missed them. So, basically, I am available for bookings if you are feeling ready to take a staycation or a break abroad. As with the previous lockdown, when so many of us had our holidays cancelled, I either returned any money that had been paid to me for cancelled bookings, or at the customers request, held the money on credit for when they were able to get away.

As things start to open up slowly, I am receiving bookings, but please rest assure, that should the current situation change again, I will not be charging any cancellation fees, and if you have paid a deposit or the full amount, this will be returned to you. I appreciate that this is beyond any of us, and would not be happy to make a financial gain from any enforced cancellations.

During my visits, I use hand sanitiser on entering and leaving, and wipe down surfaces, so hope this will reassure people that I am doing what I can to minimise any risk of spreading the virus.

Should I not be able to fulfill visits due to catching the virus myself, I have made arrangements with fellow petsitters to pass on my bookings so that no cats will be left uncared for.

Fingers crossed this doesnt happen, and I hope you are all staying fit and healthy.

27/06/2020

Well. With lockdown easing it is nice to be getting bookings again. It's been a strange 3 months with no petsitting and I cant wait to be back in full swing.

06/05/2020

I hope everyone is keeping well. I am really missing my pet sitting, and look forward to the future when we can all start taking holidays again, and I can hopefully get back to my visits.

In the meantime, I just want to say that if there any emergency situations, and a pet sitter is needed, I am available. I will take all the necessary precautions when in your homes, safeguarding you as well as myself.

Stay safe. ###

Last day of pet sitting for who knows how long. Very sad day. 😭

16/03/2020

It was only a matter of time. I have now had a handful of cancellations due to the coronavirus. I have emailed all my customers and given them details of how I have arranged cover should I get the virus. Fingers crossed it wont be needed, but not taking anything for granted here. Keep safe everyone. x

Please share this petition far and wide. There are still so many people who do not realise the dangers of bringing that lovely bunch of flowers into the house.

Lilies cause severe kidney damage in cats. The vast majority of cases of lily poisoning occur in the home, usually from flowers in a bouquet or a pot plant. In severe cases the kidneys fail completely and the cat makes no urine at all.The build up of fluid and toxins causes acute kidney injury and d...

This is great news, in a desperate situation. Hope it makes a big difference.

As animal lovers it’s been heart-breaking for us to see the news coverage of the fires that are continuing to burn throughout large parts of Australia, despite the heroic and continued efforts of firefighters and many volunteers. Our thoughts are with the thousands of people and millions of wildlife affected, and those families who have lost loved ones πŸ’š
Thanks to the incredible help and loyalty of our amazing VIP club members, we will be donating Β£100,000 through our VIP Lifelines Scheme to the WWF UK, which will contribute towards restoring habitats, emergency animal care and helping to protect the existing wildlife. We hope that this donation will make a positive difference to the lives of many animals in the affected areas of Australia.
If you’d like to donate directly to this fantastic charity, you can do so here: http://bit.ly/2s1gyQc

Further to the Brighton Cat Killer charges.

SNARL STATEMENT – 23 December 2019

We are delighted with the news that a man has been charged in connection with a series of cat stabbings in the Brighton area and extend our thanks to Sussex Police for their incredibly hard work in building a case not just for one, but 16 victims.

We have followed this case since the first incidents were initially reported to SNARL, giving support to victim owners and setting up local groups to leaflet and raise awareness.

It soon became evident that the MO used by the β€œBrighton slasher” was different to that of the β€œUK Animal Killer” whom we have been hunting for the past four years. However, we have always kept an open mind as to whether there could be any link between the two and, plotting where attacks occurred, there was a clear distinction made between both sides of the Ditchling Road. We are in touch with Sussex Police and they are aware of our research and findings.

Many people have expressed concern that the man charged with the cat stabbings has only been charged with criminal damage, but as the current law stands, cats are classed as property. We hope that victim impact statements by every one of the families whose lives have been devastated by the loss of their beloved cats in such a malicious way, will be read out in court and have a bearing on sentencing. In many ways this will be a test case and perhaps will bring about a change in the law.

Whilst we celebrate today’s announcement, we would like to remind the public to remain vigilant as the person(s) known as the β€œUK Animal Killer” is still at large. This person(s) kills, mutilates (decapitating and or tail / limb cut off, no blood and sometimes other signature injuries are present), leaving the broken bodies or body parts of foxes and beloved cats and pet rabbits for owners to find or in public places such as school grounds and playgrounds. Please contact us if you see anyone acting suspiciously around cats or find a potential victim. Please also keep sharing the SNARL poster to raise awareness in your areas.

Whilst the 'UK Animal Killer" psychopath is still at large, our advice remains to keep cats in at night where possible and ensure outdoor hutches are securely padlocked.

This is potentially good news for the cats of Brighton. BUT don't forget that the UK Cat Killer is still at large. These are two totally different cases. So please still try and keep your cats in at night if at all possible.

PROSECUTORS have charged a man on suspicion of killing cats.
