Itâs World Mental Health Day đŸ
Today is a reminder to pause and take a breath!
For those of us living with a reactive dog, the impact can be hard. The constant looking out on walks, the quickened heartbeat when you see another dog approaching, the feelings of embarrassment or isolation when your dog reacts, it all adds up. It can leave you feeling drained, anxious, or even guilty, as though youâre somehow falling short.
But hereâs what I want you to remember not just today but always, youâre not failing. Youâre showing up every day for your dog learning, adapting, and trying your best. That takes patience, compassion, and emotional strength. Itâs okay to admit that itâs hard, and itâs okay to take care of yourself too.
âïž So today, do something kind for yourself. Treat yourself to a good cuppa, a good film, or do something you enjoy. You deserve it!
As a reminder that you matter just as much as your dog. Without you, your dog wouldnât be your dog. đ
Iâve seen firsthand how living with a reactive dog can challenge your mental health, but Iâve also seen how understanding, training, and empathy can bring back a sense of clarity and connection with your dog. Change doesnât happen overnight it grows through consistent steps, and through support.
If youâre struggling and would like guidance in helping your dog and in turn yourself, find more confidence, please reach out. You donât have to do this alone.
đŸ Iâm here to help at Canine Hearts and Minds, we work together to build trust, connection, and a happier more fulfilled life.
Take care of yourself â€ïž
