Ollie’s new ‘salt cave’ 🧂🐴

Not many ponies would happily walk into a gazebo set up in the middle of their stable… but Ollie isn’t like most ponies!

As part of managing his respiratory health, Ollie has regular salt therapy. To make the treatment more effective his brilliant loaner bought a small gazebo purely to create a temporary “salt cave” for him.

It might look a bit unusual, but Ollie walks straight in, stands quietly for his treatment, and clearly isn’t too bothered by the setup!!

Thanks to his perfect entourage, Ollie gets the care he needs. It really does make all the difference. 💙

I’ve been so busy lately salting all your lovely ponies, and it’s been such a pleasure treating both new and returning customers. Thank you all for your continued support! 🩷

I know so many of your horses have been struggling through this heatwave. The dry, dusty ground and high pollen levels certainly haven’t been helping, and it’s been a tough few weeks for many. Thankfully, the end is in sight, with cooler weather and some much-needed rain forecast. 🌧️🤞

In the meantime, please enjoy this gorgeous photo of beautiful Millie soaking up the sunshine and looking every bit the boho queen she is! 👑🌸

Did she enjoy a salt session? Absolutely not, her sister did.....BUT look how she absolutely rocks her fringe!!

❤️ Managing Asthma Ponies During This Awful Heatwave ❤️

This weather can be particularly challenging for our asthma-prone ponies. Heat, pollen, dust, and poor air quality can all make breathing more difficult, so a little extra management can make a big difference.

🌾 Keep ponies in during periods of high pollen, especially on hot, dry, windy days.
🥕 Feed soaked feeds to help with hydration.
🌾 Wet or soak hay to reduce dust and respiratory irritants. Or even better move onto hayledge.
⚖️ Keep ponies slim and at a healthy weight, as excess weight can make coping with heat and respiratory issues more difficult.
🚿 Hose them off morning and evening to help keep body temperatures down.
🪰 Fly rugs can be soaked before or after putting them on – they’ll stay cooler for longer and can provide welcome relief during the hottest parts of the day.
🌅 Avoid exercise during peak temperatures and opt for early morning or late evening if needed.
AND OF COURSE
🧂 A salt therapy session can be a great addition to your management plan, helping to support respiratory health while providing a cool, calm environment away from pollen and dust. ❤️

Every pony is different, but careful management during a heatwave can help keep them comfortable, breathing easier, and feeling their best.

🐴❤️ Stay cool, stay hydrated, and give your respiratory ponies a little extra TLC during this hot spell.

WHO DIS??? This is pollen… the silent, invisible pest that ruins our summer. 🌾

As the pollen count rises, many horses start to struggle with:
• Coughing
• Heavy breathing or heaves
• Head shaking
• Sneezing

This is Scamp, he's 36 years old and has been with me for over 30 years.
