On Feet Out Friday, so bright,
The sun filled the world with its light.
My guinea pigs lay,
All cosy and gay,
With toes in the breeze—what a sight! 🐹🐾

Thank you to Ms Hawley who very kindly donated these wonderful goodies to one of our fosterers, Natalie, when she had her own boys castrated recently at the vets Natalie works at. These treats will be distributed to the foster piggies in our care.

I nearly forgot—what a plight!
It’s Feet Out Friday tonight!
My guinea pigs stare,
With feet in the air,
Squeaking, “You gave us a fright!” 🐹🐾

Another reason why you should always use rescues instead of shops/breeders when welcoming a new pet into your home.

The pet shop has discovered cases of Streptococcus among their guinea pig population.

Guinea pigs danced to the beat.
With hearts in the air,
And toes feeling bare,
They squeaked, "Be my Valentine treat!" 🐾🐹

With guinea pigs looking so sweat.
They eat, sleep, and p**p,
In an endless loop,
While resting their tired old feet! 🐾🐹

Who kicked out its feet with a sigh.
For Friday was here,
The best day of year,
And January waved its goodbye! 🐹🐾

On Fridays, the piggies will sprawl,
With their feet sticking out, not so small.
“Dear human, I want more!”
They will wheek and implore,
For their food, they’ll give it their all! 🐹🐾

BANNER COMPETITION

It’s that time of the month again when we give our followers the chance to have their guinea pigs featured as our Facebook banner!

February’s theme is Valentines Day 💕

If you'd like your guinea pigs representing Little Wheekers for the month of February please post the photo of your choice in the comments below, on this post.

Please don’t dress your piggies up, they do not like it! We won’t accept entries of piggies in outfits (a carefully balanced hat is ok).

The rules:

🐹The photo must follow the theme
🐹The photo should be 'landscape view'
🐹No people in the photos.
🐹Any that don't meet these requirements will NOT be considered as an entry
🐹By entering the competition you are agreeing to Little Wheekers using your photo for informational and publicity purposes.

Entries will be accepted until 9pm on Wednesday 29 January. Entries will then be posted to allow voting to begin. The photo with the most 'likes' at 9pm on Friday 31 January will be considered the winner.

In the event of a tie, the winner will be chosen by the Admin team.

The winner will then become our banner guinea pig for the month of February

On Fridays, the piggies recline,
With feet stretched out, looking divine.
Their lazy day pose,
From their heads to their toes,
Makes chillin’ an art they define! 🐹🐾

🩵Fred & George🩵

Fred and George are very sweet male Guinea pigs looking for their forever home. They are around 10 months old.

George has such silky fur and loves to have cuddles. Fred is chatty, has a big personality and loves having a chin rub whilst watching TV (The Traitors is a favourite!)

Like most piggies they are nervous to be picked up from their cage but settle down quickly once they are out. These cuddly and cute piggies would love an indoor home and someone who is willing to play with them and feed them vegetables!

If you can offer these lovely piggies a forever home. Please complete our adoption form:

As you may recall, we told you about Jazz, who was surrendered to us in October last year. He had quite a severe head tilt and was showing some unusual behaviours.

Jazz went to see Martin at Emerson's Green Veterinary Surgery. He was sedated, x-rayed and examined. This showed he had chronic inflammation in his middle ear, which was longstanding, and should be very painful. He was put on strong painkillers and anti inflammatories, and his behaviours monitored.

Jazz became less fussy with his veggies once he started his meds. This could have indicated that the meds were helping as pain can affect what a piggie chooses to eat, especially if the pain is in the head area.

After 30 days, Jazz's meds were stopped and his behaviours were continued to be monitored. The thought being that if he regressed, the meds must have been helping, and he must be in pain without them.

We're pleased to report that after stopping Jazz's meds he continues to enjoy a more varied diet and seems very happy. He does still have the head tilt though, which makes him look like a contortionist. Martin tells us Jazz's brain will take account of his eyes being at different levels, and he should still see the world as level.

Jazz will remain under the care of us as a long-term foster, and we'll try and find him a friend. That might take a while as he's quite full on with other piggies. He's in the 'piggie room' at one of our fosterer's and has other piggies in setups next to him, so he's not totally lacking in piggie company.

We can't help all piggies out there that are in need, but we will do our best for the ones that do come in to us. You help us to do that.

Thank you to everyone who donated towards Jazz's investigations.

Guinea pigs laze so sweet,
Though the weather was cold,
The piggies were bold,
Warming hearts with their tiny, cute feet! 🐹🐾

🩵 The Quad 🩵

This wonderful cuddly quad are looking for their new home. Luna, Bugsy, Maeve and Smudge are 2-3 years old, 3 girls and a neutered boy.

They’re a cuddly & friendly bunch and little angels for grooming/nail cutting time! They’d make fantastic family guinea pigs but will need an indoor c&c ideally 6x2 or a 5x2 with a loft.

If you can offer these lovely piggies a forever home. Please complete our adoption form:
