Today is International Homeless Animals Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the plight of homeless animals and the importance of adopting and caring for them.

We thought we’d use this opportunity to showcase just some of the gorgeous guinea pigs we currently have under our care 🥰

🐹 BANNER COMPETITION 🐹

It’s that time of the month again when we give our the chance to have their guinea pigs featured as our Facebook banner!

With the Olympic Games just finished and the Paralympics just about to start, September’s theme is going to be the Guinea Pig Olympics!

Some ideas:
- gymnastics…standing on back legs summoning the humans
- synchronised…begging for food
- tug of war…usually involving pepper

If you'd like your guinea pigs representing Little Wheekers for the month of September please post the photo of your choice in the comments below, on this post.

The rules:

🐹The photo must follow the theme
🐹The photo should be 'landscape view'
🐹No people in the photos.
🐹Any that don't meet these requirements will NOT be considered as an entry
🐹By entering the competition you are agreeing to Little Wheekers using your photo for informational and publicity purposes.

Entries will be accepted until 9pm on Thursday 29 August. Entries will then be posted in an album to allow voting to begin. The photo with the most 'likes' at 9pm on Saturday 31 August will be considered the winner.

In the event of a tie, the winner will be chosen by the Admin team.

The winner will then become our banner guinea pig for the month of August

Big Fuzzy & Tiger are happy boys who will be looking for their new home soon.

Big Fuzzy is 2.5 years old and Tiger 1.5 years old.

The boys are well bonded with Big Fuzzy very chilled and happy to see any humans with food! Tiger is slightly more reserved of the pair but gets his confidence from Big Fuzzy.

The boys will be looking for an indoor home 🏠

Pebbles & Coco are pretty 3.5 year old girls who have recently come into the rescue’s care. Despite only being with us a short time, they already take food by hand.

They will shortly be looking for their forever home 🏠

It’s international cat day so we thought we’d share some pictures of one of our foster carers cats. He is extremely patient with all the piggies that arrive in foster. Some of the single bereaved piggies seem to get some comfort from him.

Have your piggies got any other animal friends? We’d love to see pictures.

Note: no cats or any other animals are ever left unsupervised with our guinea pigs as this is something we’d never recommend. These photos were all taken whilst the guinea pig was having human cuddles and decided to go see the cat.

Big thanks to The Inn on the Green for nominating us as their charity of fhe week at their pub quiz last night. They raised a massive £125 for the piggies!

August Banner Competition

Our beautiful quad of girls are still looking for a home!

They are a well bonded group with 3 older piggies aged 2 and one aged around 1.

Introducing Peter & Benjamin, these wonderful fuzzy boys are a delight. They are around 2 years old, confident and adventurous. They don’t mind being cuddled or picked up.

If you’re willing to put the time in, you could even teach them tricks! The boys love their food and their veggies!

Being a lively pair of boys, we are looking for a minimum of a 5x2 c&c with a loft.

Remember the lovely Hamilton who needed an eye removing? Well he is now ready to adopt! This special boy is looking for an indoor home with 1 or 2 girls who have a gentle personality (we got him neutered at the same time). He has an adorable character and makes his foster carers laugh with his dashing about and hide and seek games in his hay cube and hideys.

If you think you would like to adopt this bundle of fluff please send us a message or email outlining the piggies you have and the accommodation they live in. We will need to be a little picky about where he goes so please do not be offended if your set up is not quite right.
