Keyhole spays at The Grove Vets:
We have a well-earned reputation as the vets to go to if you would like your dog neutered using keyhole techniques.
Our vet Andy is a surgical certificate holder and has been performing laparoscopic techniques for over a decade, perfecting his technique over this time. We provide this service to our clients but we also take referrals from neighbouring veterinary clinics.
Because of the specialist equipment we posses we can provide keyhole spays to dogs weighing as little as 5kg (although, weight is a guide not a rule as the limiting factor is space in the abdomen rather than the weight of the dog.)
We also offer traditional dog and cat spays at a very reasonable price and do not have a long waiting list (currently around 2 weeks)

The Grove Vets is 2yrs Old!!!
We went back to our first ever little video and made a few changes to show our journey over the last couple of years. We hope you like it.
We really wanted to say a massive thank you to all our amazing and loyal clients and your lovely pets. We literally couldn't do this without you and we have to say it is genuinely a lovely feeling coming in to work.
Amy and I also wanted to say a massive thank you to our incredible team. Emily, Ella, Alice, Lottie and Saffie. You guys are absolutely awesome and we can't believe how lucky we are to have you.
We set out with an idea of what we wanted to be but not necessarily knowing how we were going to do it....2 years on with the support of our amazing team, bit by bit we are getting there.
Covid was certainly a challenge for all of us but we have now opened our doors to our clients and will continue to offer 20 min consultations as a standard (rather than shortening them to 15 mins like most other clinics). We want to maintain the relationships we have with our clients and patients and having the time to really listen to you and examine your pet is extremely important to us.
Anyway, that was a bit of a ramble.
Thankyou everyone
Andy and Amy
Undescended (cryptorchid) testicle removal
This is a video of Andy performing keyhole surgery to find and remove an undescended (cryptorchid) testicle.
Cryptorchid testicles have a high chance of developing cancer. It is therefore important to find and remove them. They could be hiding anywhere from the groin to high up in the abdomen by the kidney. Before keyhole surgery this may have meant a very large incision and an equally long recovery time. However using laparoscopy we can pinpoint where the testicle is, place a port directly over it, grasp it and remove it from a small incision.
This patient is now 3 days post op, his incisions look great and he is rearing to go. He will need restricted exercise for another 4 days, but all being well, after that, he can get back to his life as normal - long walks and playing with his mates.
Our hedgepig is going home.
A new way to roll out sheet lead.
Covid and Cats: Should we be keeping all cats indoors? No.
