Say hello to lovely Rosie!
(story shared with Owner consent) ❤

We saw Rosie today following a 4 day history of sudden coughing, gagging and retching bought on by purring and eating (see video).

She wasn't her usual self at home.
We sedated her and fully examined her:
- Mouth
- Throat and Larynx (voice box!)
- Ear canals.

And....

She had a grass blade hiding behind her soft palate! 🙀
We removed this and she had some anti-inflammatory medication, and is feeling much better.

Coughing, sneezing, retching and changes to your cat's purr or meow can be indicative of an upper respiratory tract problems, and often an examination under sedation can be incredibly helpful.

Well done Rosie! 😍

P.S. Our Vet Fran who helped Rosie today, also helped to write an article about laryngeal disease in cats with the BSAVA!

Interactive toys are great for kittens, especially wand toys with mice or feathers! 🐭

Wand toys are perfect for many different reasons:
🪄 they can be moved across the floor at different heights and speeds
🪄 encourages natural hunting behaviour
🪄 prevents boredom
🪄 increases activity levels to minimise weight gain
🪄 distance can be kept between you and your kitten, ensuring accidental scratches and bites are kept to a minimum

Meet Milo the Maine C**n! 👀

Milo came in for a Stage 1 Dental yesterday with our vet Fran, and as you can see all 8.7 kilograms of him stole the hearts of the team❤️

Dentals are essential to ensure the mouth is free of pain and infection.
Any inflammation or infection in the mouth can lead to inflammation and infection elsewhere in the body.

Meet Batman 🦇

Batman came to visit us today for his neutering and microchip procedure with our vet Liz!

As you can see Batman made himself at home, and stole the heart of the whole team, especially of our Registered Veterinary Nurse Abi ❤️

CAT FOUND - URGENT TREATMENT NEEDED

We're still urgently trying to locate the owner for a cat we had brought in yesterday.
The male tabby was brought in after being found in Peghill (Yate), following a potential RTA.

He is currently being cared for at our Bradley Stoke Hospital, so if you believe this lovely boy to be your cat, please call them on 01454 275000 as soon as possible.

Taz and Rue were in for their second vaccinations this afternoon! 😍

We're happy to say both are thriving, and were very brave for their injections.
As 3 month old Maine C**n kittens, Taz and Rue have lots of growing to do! 🧬

We look forward to seeing them again in a few weeks for their pre-neuter screening! 🩷💙

All treatment Taz and Rue have received so far has been covered by our Pet Health Club, and their owner will even get a discount for their neutering, and a free microchip so this scrummy pair never get lost!🥳

💚 Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month 💚

I'm sure most of our clients have met our Head Nurse Abi at an admit or discharge appointment, but there is more to Abi's job than what meets the eye! 👀

What does Abi do for the Cat Clinic?

The answer is everything!

Abi prepares, monitors and recovers all of our patients who have undergone surgery and/or investigations, which usually take place under sedation or general anaesthetic 🩺

Abi is also relied upon for a helping hand by our Vets!
This could be to helping obtain blood samples, holding animals for procedures, running in-house laboratory tests, to what our patients would say is the most important job of providing lick-e-lixs! 😻

Nail Clips, Microchipping, Post-Operative Checks, 6 Month Health Checks, Weight Clinics, Monthly Injections? Yes Abi can do them all too! 🙈

Alongside Abi's clinical work, she is always working "behind the scenes" managing our diaries, staff rotas, training, keeping our protocols up to date, and so much more! 🤯

As you can imagine, Abi is a valued member of the team and the Cat Clinic is lucky to have such an amazing Head Nurse 💚

Meet Kitten 👋

Kitten first came to see us around a month ago, and to be truthfully honest he wasn't the biggest fan of the Vets!😔

Today we felt we hit a milestone with Kitten, as he decided to make himself comfortable in our consulting chair, whilst cleaning the remaining Licki-e-Lix off himself (messy eater alert)🍴

This just shows that with a calm cat-friendly environment, time, calming medications and lots of Lick-e-Lix, it all really does make a difference to feline behaviour😻

Well Done Kitten! 🏆

Meet Zari 👋

Zari was a brave girl for her review following her short hospital stay.

Meet Socks! 👋

Socks is owned by our Care Assistant, who lives locally in BS36.

Socks decided one afternoon to take himself 30 miles away to Newport, after exploring the inside of a van! 🚕
Thankfully the driver had noticed Socks shoot out from the van when they had parked, and managed to take him to a local vets.

Socks was microchipped, and all the details were up to date meaning after a 60-mile round trip, he was able to be reunited quickly with Georgia and her family ❤

If Socks wouldn't have been microchipped, it would have been likely that he wouldn't have made it home.
This is why we microchipping your cats is so important, not only because it is soon to be compulsory, but to make sure cats like Socks can be reunited with their owners🥰
