❤❤ Happy Furever After ❤❤

March already.....nearly 5 months of the boys being at home.

Bobby & Vinnie are happily exploring the garden supervised, and the good thing is that so far they look up at the fence but neither have tried to jump it! They both zoom around the garden in the sunshine. When they do race in and calm down they sleep well!

Their little personalities are shining through and even though they are very different, they are never that far away from each other, always swapping food bowls and snatching each other’s toys (even though they have loads of toys and I buy two of everything).

Growing lots and they are beautiful (bias mummy)
Very much enjoying outdoor life and then snuggles.
Bring on the lighter, brighter days!

🌟Star of the Week - Indie 🌟

‘Hey Pals 👋 Indie here! This week I’ve been selected as star of the week, no surprise there really as I am pretty perfect!

On arriving at Holly Hedge I soon made lots of friends, human and four-legged. Everyone was super excited to meet me as they heard I was a total sweetheart.

You’ll often find me working hard in reception with the team - if they tell you I snooze most of the day don’t believe them! I am most definitely the hardest worker in there! When I am not there I am chilling with my carers in the staff room, I love company! You’ll barely even notice me although you just might hear me snoring! 💤

My carers say I am a big ray of sunshine ☀️ I can’t wait for a family of my own, I could possibly live with sensible older children. A perfect companion on walks, lunch and of course a snooze.

Bye for now friends, I hope to hear from you soon 💛 x’

Shiloh - Lab/Husky Crossbreed - Urgent foster needed
DOB: September 2024
S*x: Female
Neutered: Not yet
Good with Children: Possibly older, calm
Good with Dogs: Not in the home
Good with Cats: Unknown
Time able to be left: Red
Height of fence needed: 5ft
Shiloh is a sweet sensitive soul, who has been really let down by humans and is urgent need of a foster home. She was taken to a vet to be put to sleep after a fight with another dog in the home, and was given a day at the vets to find somewhere. She is now safe at the sanctuary, but has been very scared and shut down after going through a very traumatic experience, and as much as we try to our very best, a kennel is no place for such a young dog, especially a nervous one.
Shiloh is a bit of a blank slate to us, as we have no previous history for her, but it seems like she has not had a good start in life, and doesn’t appear to have been walked or socialised, and is finding everything a bit scary and overwhelming at the moment.
Shiloh does however appear to be a bright girl, and has shown that she likes to have a cuddle and a nice warm, comfortable lap to sit on.

We are urgently looking for a foster home that has experience with nervous dogs, and can slowly help to build up confidence, and help Shiloh feel safe and loved. We have no doubt that Shiloh can grow into a loving and loyal pet one day to people that deserve and love her in return. If you can help her on her journey to find her ‘Happy furever after’, then please contact the rehoming team at [email protected] or 01275 474719 for more information.

Suki is the latest one of our dogs to enjoy a day out at Scent Quest. Their ‘Rescue Scenter Fund’ allows customers to contribute towards sessions for dogs awaiting their forever homes.

Suki is just a joy to be around. She is enthusiastic in everything she does, be it zooming around our secure fields, engaging her brain with some training or greeting everybody she meets. Everyone that meets Suki the first time falls instantly in love and the feeling is usually mutual!

Although Suki does struggle being left alone, this is one of the things our staff are actively working on with her at the moment. Therefore Suki will need humans around most of the time and our staff will be available to support and guide her new family.

Please a take moment to check out her profile and share, share, share!

❤❤ Happy Furever After ❤❤

Woody is doing really well!
He started to settle by himself at night quite quickly, and has been enjoying chasing the birds and squirrels out of our garden.

We've started a bit of training with him, he sits and stays, and his recall is getting really good! We've been practising with a long line and in private fields and hope to be able to let him off soon. He seems happy!

He comes to us for attention when he wants it and settles by himself when he wants some space. We've been enjoying discovering what kind of food he likes, he gets excited when I’m picking veggies from the garden, as he loves fresh broccoli and tomatoes!

We took him to the vet and he said everything is looking good! He was a very good boy and let the vet look over him.

I've attached some photos :)

🌟Star of the Week - Kilo 🌟

Here I am, the shining star. I’ve not long arrived and of course I’ve stolen everybody’s heart ♥️

My name’s Kilo, I am half potato half staffy - 100% sweetheart!

My carers couldn’t think of just one reason for me to be Star of the Week so they put together a few…

🌟 I have the biggest staffy smile.
🌟I love meeting new people, new friends are my favourite thing ever.
🌟A perfect cuddle buddy, I think it’s an excuse for them to take ten minutes extra in the staff room hehe but I am not complaining.
🌟Super fun!
🌟Last but of course not least, perfect on walks - in other words I walk nice and slow so they can keep up with me in the woods, always thinking of my carers!

As you can see, I am a pretty perfect boy and of course I am very handsome to look at!

As much as I love all my humans here I would really like someone to call my own so I don’t have to share with all my other doggy friends at Holly Hedge. The more time for walks and cuddles the better and in return you will gain a loyal best friend in me. Lots of Love Kilo xx

There is certainly no shortage of wonderful inspirational women working and volunteering in the rescue community, and Holly Hedge is no exception.

This International Women’s Day we want to celebrate one incredible colleague, our very own Lou, now into her 25th year at Holly Hedge.

Lou always goes above and beyond to make sure every single animal gets everything they need and more; the cosiest beds, plenty of toys and the best nutritious food, she even sings to them! Our animals may be down on their luck on arrival but that all changes with such an incredible ‘foster mum’ to care for them while they are with us.

Lou is also our legendary Santa Lou
/ Mother Christmas. Every year she decorates the sanctuary, wraps dozens of presents and fills and hangs out stockings for all our animals. Colleagues describe her festive spirit as infectious, even for the Scrooges amongst us!

Over the years Lou will have provided this level of unwavering love and care for literally thousands of animals.

Holly Hedge founder Pauline expresses her thanks to Lou, a truly inspirational Holly Hedge hero!

“Our lovely Lou has been a valued member of staff since the year 2000, and her commitment and dedication to our rescues is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble when it comes to our rescues, and she always works with a smile. She knows everything there is to know about the animals in her care and her knowledge and expertise is vast. Lou is a brilliant midwife and has helped bring many kittens into the world, and knows exactly what to do if mum and kits are struggling. She is truly irreplaceable, even foregoing some of her holiday time when we have been full to bursting. I for one am extremely proud of her commitment and genuine love for all our precious rescues. Thank you Lou for your amazing work ethic which is so appreciated.
Pauline, founder.”

Who has spotted gorgeous Bertie on our website?

This little lad has been under our care for a couple of months now. When he arrived at Holly Hedge he was quite poorly. It has taken many weeks of food trials, vet visits and an inpatient stay with a specialist vet to get Bertie fit and ready to look for his new home.

Bertie’s investigations and treatment have cost many thousands of pounds, but of course it is all worth it to see him now happy and thriving in his foster home.

The Paw Pals monthly donation scheme allows us to help animals like Bertie receive the very best care and treatment in their time of need.
If you can help support Bertie and others like him, please consider becoming a Paw Pal today https://hollyhedge.org.uk/donate/sponsor-kennel-cat-pen/

If you would like to find out more about Bertie and the type of home he needs, check out his profile on our website: https://hollyhedge.org.uk/our-animals/rehome-a-dog/bertie-frenchie/

Sweet Roxy’s ears have a life of their own!

Roxy is a young lady of approximately a year old, she’s full of fun and loves a snuggle, she can’t wait for a family of her own. She would love an active home willing to dedicate time to her training and of course playing with her toys. Roxy could potentially live with older sensible children.

Roxy recently went for a day out with one of our volunteers who described her as an ‘absolute delight’🥰

❤❤ Happy Furever After ❤❤

The boys are doing great, Tiger is now Ollie and Flash is now Iggy.
They've settled in really well, Iggy has grown so much these few months. Ollie is lots more confident than when we first brought him home, though he's still getting used to when someone rings the doorbell.

They love their cat tree, where they can watch the world go by and still cuddle up and groom each other.

We’re very grateful to have them brighten up our days and we're really glad we decided to adopt through Holly Hedge.

Urgent foster plea - Calling all potential puppy foster carers!

From time to time we get a few puppy emergencies, where a puppy needs to come into Holly Hedge as a matter of emergency. We like to get these pups into foster homes as we don't want these babies in a kennel on their own at such a young age. Would you like to be a puppy foster parent? For puppies we would like homes that are experienced with pups, and where there is someone home most of the day, some of the pups may need child and pet free foster homes, others may be fine (they all have different needs depending on what they may have been through). Foster carers would also need to be fairly local and have transport, to bring the puppy to us if they need to see our vet on vet visit day (usually a Tuesday afternoon) for check ups, or vaccinations, and also to meet prospective adopters.

If you would like to offer a little bundle of love/joy/mischief/fun, a helping hand in giving us some time to find their forever homes, then please contact the rehoming team at [email protected] telling us a little about your circumstances and why you would be a good foster parent, and we can then send you an application form, and keep you on our books for those little emergencies.

Thank you!

Please note: The pictures shown are not of current puppies needing a foster home.

With some very cute kittens currently up for rehoming, our older cats know this sadly means they are even more likely to be overlooked.

However, there are plenty of reasons to consider adopting an older cat, including:
🐈🤝Their personality is already known and so they can be matched with likeminded homes
🐈🧶Less likely to get into mischief around the house
🐈👀Less likely to require a lot of attention
🐈🥰Often they are just looking for a warm lap to snooze on
When rehoming an older cat you know you have given them the second chance they really deserve. All they want is for someone to bring hope and sparkle back in to their eyes and heart 💖

We currently have several older cats at the sanctuary including the beautiful tortie and white Mimosa, siblings Fudge and Echo, dear older chap Fifi and our long stay tabby and white Raphael.

Often these older cats have lost their loving owners and are just desperate to return to a kind and loving home.

Please do take a moment to look at their profiles, they would all be most grateful.
