DOG WALKER VACANCY

We are looking to recruit another dog walker to join our small friendly team.

The ideal candidate will be a dog owner past or present who is confident and experienced in handling a variety of dog breeds. Ideally, you will have an understanding of canine behaviour and experience in positive reinforcement training techniques. You must be calm, punctual, reliable, flexible, physically fit and willing to walk up to 5 dogs together off lead in all weather conditions (full intensive paid training provided).

The role involves collecting dogs and taking them on group walks in beautiful locations around Bristol. There may be the occasional cat or rabbit to visit and cuddle as well as solo lead walks for the less sociable dogs and young puppies.

My clients are Bristol based and therefore you must live in the area and have excellent knowledge of Clifton and the areas that immediately surround it.

You will need a full UK driving license and be happy and confident driving the work vehicle provided. There is a lot of driving in this role, including getting to destinations, parking and driving down narrow streets. We want the applicant to be a competent driver who is comfortable navigating a variety of road situations.

I am looking for somebody to work Monday to Friday, very roughly between 8:30am-3:30pm. The successful candidate must be happy to undergo a basic police check and join us on a self-employed basis.

I require an ongoing commitment for this position therefore, this is not suitable for interim employment. Time is spent building strong bonds with the dogs and my clients; therefore someone committed to a long-term role/career would be more suited. A lot of training goes into staff and there’s too much to learn for it to be a temporary role.

Walking groups of dogs to the standards of care we provide and that our clients expect is a huge responsibility and it can often be stressful trying to work within the daily timeframes.

Another thing to consider is although, there will be times that you see the other walkers, you will primarily be working independently. You need to be comfortable with being out and about with no one else other than the dogs for company.

It is vital you are self-motivated and good at communicating updates regarding dogs and your day. You will also find yourself in a variety of situations with the general public that you will need to be comfortable with.
