One of our rescues who doesn't get to meet all our guests yet, we are so proud of Kepi, thank you specially to our eldest son Darcy who trains him, and has learned Kepi's language! Thank you to Betty Boo who taught him how to be a more trusting doggie We love him and will NEVER give up on him! 🐶❤️

Meet our new arrival Thumper, who we have renamed Peng, unfortunately she came to us as her and her sister were fighting, so shes a bit of a lonely girl. We will be doing a slow bond with the rest of the gang. 🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇

Just had to share, imagine picking up Stocking, Pudding, Linda and Stella by their legs... and thats not the worst of it... Please don't eat beautiful turkeys this Christmas!
They are the most affectionate, emotionally intelligent, soppy and proud beings who deserve to live! 💔🦃

Yesterday I walked into a turkey farm which holds thousands of turkeys and came out with this poorly girl.
I could see hundreds from where I stood, all looking out through the metal mesh which surrounded the barns, I could see them standing in their own faeces all squashed together with no where to move to. The noise was deafening, as I looked towards the many barns of turkeys I felt terribly sorry and guilty for the ones I was leaving behind but concentrating on the one I’d gone for. Believe me that’s the only way which I could do it 😔
The farmer openly told me how many turkeys they had as if he was expecting some response from me, but I had to hold my tongue as my main focus was getting this little girl out 😔

She was being carried by her legs, being swung upside down like she was a shopping bag. I was waiting with a box next to the shed, there was absolutely no need for her to be carried like that.

This poor soul is from the same farm where a couple of years ago I managed to save Phoebe.
This little one who was given to me for free isn’t well and I’m hoping I can help her recover 💗

The sound in my video is quiet due to the wind, I am explaining that I will be giving her all the relevant medication she needs and she’ll be going into her own little house for now so she can be monitored.
She’s a scared girl but very affectionate, we had a cuddle and she nuzzled into my neck 💗 She’s been debeaked and she has no snood, I’ve never known a turkey to have no snood before and I have rescued turkeys for over 12 years, I don’t even want to think about what has happened to her snood 😔

I’ve called her Penelope 💗

Beautiful Penelope has left behind her old life, her approximately 4 months of hell and has started her new life at HFAS where she’ll have cuddles, love and freedom to explore her new surroundings 💗
Last night she made her bed in deep straw and slept in her own little house and enjoyed peace and quiet which was the first time in her entire life 💗

Duck sexing - tell us what you think! Minie and Mo are our inseparable and almost identical ducks, rescued from the meat machine. However, Minie (with the lighter beak) has been pecking Mo on the back of the neck. After some you tube research, it could be a boy/girl thing. Apparently girls quack and boys do more of a raspy honk, but they sounded the same to us. Also, neither of them lay eggs, but one has been seen humping the other in the spring...🤔🤔

All Abourd the Bunny Bus 🐇🐇🐇On our way to the wonderful The Retreat Animal Rescue Farm Sanctuary and Cafe where the amazing The Neuter Project will be neutering our bunnys & guineas for free. Shortcuts

Plant Based Retreat, Bristol.

Located on the edge of Bristol on the same side as Bath, we offer a detached and well appointed garden chalet with a view and outdoor hot tub. The Chalet sleeps 5, and we also offer a separate and self contained double ensuite which is ideal for key workers during the Coronavirus Lockdown. A large outdoor hot tub nestled under the canopy of a mature eucalyptus tree is an optional extra bookable for your exclusive use.

The Base has been created by vegan couple Jacqui & Fiaz who are very experienced hosts and also keep rescued small animals roaming free in the garden during the day. The chalet is at the top of our garden where we live, so we are here if you need us. Naturally, we also welcome guests who are travelling with pets. C**k Road Ridge is on our doorstep and is ideal for taking The Dog out with hills, wooded areas and views. Perfect!

We are plant based accommodation which means everyone is welcome but we don't allow meat, fish or dairy on the premises.

LOCATION

The chalet's elevated position and bi-folding doors to the decked terrace offer spacious views of the mature gardens and dramatic sunrises over the rolling Cotswolds beyond. Perfect for summertime but also very cosy in the winter with underfloor heating throughout and a real wood burner.

The Base feels like you're in the countryside but we are under 5 minutes' leafy stroll to Aspects Leisure Park with multi-screen cinema, restaurants, pub, 10 pin bowling, gym and swimming pool! Chiquito’s and Frankie & Benny’s both have a separate vegan menu. A few minute's further is Gallagher Retail Park with clothes shops, 24 hour supermarket and Cafe Nero.

We are located in Hanham on the east edge of Bristol. Just 20 minutes' drive to Bristol's vibrant city centre, and 30 mins to the picturesque and historic city of Bath.

ACCOMMODATION

The Chalet (Sleeps 4). The entrance opens into a spacious studio area with a kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom and full kitchen complete with dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. Adjoining the studio is the second bedroom, also with a kingsize bed.

The kitchen in the chalet is fully equipped with glasses, crockery, pans and utensils and also a coffee capsule machine for fresh espresso coffee. Towels, hairdryer, iron and travel cot are also included as are other essentials like coffee pods, firewood and loo roll.

Self Contained Double Ensuite. Well appointed with coffee capsule machine, fridge, iron and hairdryer etc.

Companion Animals. All companion animals are very welcome. Just bear in mind our rescue rabbits and chickens roam free in the garden during the day, but we can arrange some 'garden time' for your dogs if you like, and we also have a great dog walk on the doorstep.

Children. Children and babies are very welcome too, we have a high chair and travel cot, just bring your own bedding for the travel cot.

NIGHTLY RATES & HOW TO BOOK

The Chalet (Sleeps 4) £99pn (Based on 2 guests, for extra guests add £10pn each)

Small Double Ensuite in the main house £55pn (Single occupancy only)

The Hot Tub £59 for first day, then £20 per consecutive day thereafter. Confirm with payment by 9pm the night before.

Terms & Cancellation Policy Terms of booking are full payment at time of making your booking. Minimum term: 2 nights. Cancellations with more than 30 days’ notice will be refunded in full. Cancellations with less than 30 days’ notice are not refundable. Group bookings are not refundable. Grace period: 24 hours. Meaning you can cancel free of charge in the first 24 hours after booking, provided your arrival is not within the next 7 days.

ANIMAL RESCUE (Self Funded)

We have space and time to take in rescue animals who have come from neglect or animal farming backgrounds. It is a very rewarding and mindful thing to do, if you have space and time we recommend you do it too. It teaches us about the importance and value of basic needs and freedom to do what makes us what we are.

Although mainly a great inconvenience, it is a pleasure to watch these lucky souls who have landed on their feet and are finally allowed to do the little things that make them who they are. Dirt baths, digging, sunbathing, playing food wars and territorial gangsta tag as well as the surprisingly high level and collaborative behaviour taken up by the rabbits of Perimeter Pe*******on Testing.

Our rabbits and chickens are let out to roam free in the garden during the day. The animal rescue is self funded and we don’t ask for donations, but if you are coming to stay or visit, you are welcome to bring some veggies and nuts to support their insatiable appetites.
