Meet our happy chap, Dennis. He is a big boy, weighing 42kg, and is just as loving as he is large, a true gentle giant! Being a friendly and loving boy, he enjoys nothing more than receiving cuddles and kisses from his human friends.

Dennis is an energetic dog who adores running around and would relish joining his new owners on adventures and being active in his new home - he would also like lots of toys to play with as he absolutely loves playtime!

Although Dennis is affectionate and tender, he can be a little bit anxious. He could possibly live with another medium-large breed dog pending successful introductions here at Bristol ARC.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team at Innovative Pet Products for their generous donation of 60 Lickimats to our rescue centre! These mats are so much more than just treat dispensers—they provide a great way to enrich our dogs’ lives by allowing them to savor their treats slowly and calmly.

Lickimats are designed to promote better oral hygiene and soothe our dogs by encouraging natural licking behavior, which releases those feel-good endorphins. This means happier, healthier dogs, and we couldn’t be more grateful for this amazing gift!

Thank you, Lickimat, for making a lasting impact on the lives of the animals in our care. Your support means the world to us and to our furry friends!

It's time we introduced you to some very adorable residents at Bristol A.R.C. 🐾 ❤️

Did you know that many black cats end up in rescue and are the last to be adopted? Will you show our black cats some appreciation and join us in loving all cats, regardless of their fur colour.

If you want to help, we are looking for foster carers. Those who can take on struggling small animals, dogs, and adult cats too as well as those with a spare room to give animals a private, quiet space are ideal. In particular, some of our nervous dogs would also benefit from homes with no existing pets or young children.

To find out more about fostering and how to apply visit our website link here https://buff.ly/493yKb6

A Huge Thank You to Dog Den Grooming!

We’re wagging our tails in gratitude to Dog Den Grooming for their incredible Charity Day fundraiser! Thanks to their amazing efforts and the generosity of their wonderful community, they raised £211.11 for our centre. But that’s not all—they also collected beds, food, and leads for our furry friends in need!

Your support is vital in helping us continue to care for Bristol’s most vulnerable animals. A big round of "ap-paws" to everyone who donated and participated—you’re all heroes to the animals we love.

Thank you, Dog Den Grooming, and everyone involved, for making such a positive impact!

Jimmy is a real character! He is looking for an experienced home where he can get lots of attention. Jimmy is very chatty and likes a sing along with his carers. He sometimes can have a bit of an attitude when his cage is approached but he soon builds a strong bond with anyone who spends time with him.

We are looking to place Jimmy with another cockatiel as he will benefit from company and having another cockatiel to chat to.

As birds like a lot of space, Jimmy will require a good sized cage with plenty of toys and places to perch.

Ted and Fred are a lovely, playful, chatty pair of Guinea pigs. Although they can be a little shy initially, their confidence around people is building daily and they will make a great addition to most homes.

Fred and Ted love their toys and get very excited at feed time, they especially love parsley.

This lovely duo are now ready to find a new home and would be suited to either an indoor or outdoor enclosure.

It's and we'd like to share Mia's story. 🐱

Mia arrived at our shelter with her tiny kittens. She was a devoted mother, and now that all her kittens have found loving homes, it's Mia's turn to find hers.

Having experienced abandonment, Mia was initially very timid. However, she's currently in a foster home and is making incredible progress. She's started seeking attention and affection from her foster parent, showing the immense benefit of a calm and quiet home.

Mia deserves a fresh start with people who understand that with care and patience, she will blossom and shine. This International Cat Day, let's find Mia the loving home she deserves. 🐾❤️

Bolt has been in our care for over 8 months and at 11 years old, he is our oldest resident looking for a home. 💔

Despite his age, he still has a spring in his step - he loves people, lots of attention and playing, like every lurcher does!

Bolt would suit a home with owners who are at home a lot – and who can help him gain his confidence with alone time. He can also be rehomed with older, dog-confident children.

If you think you can give Bolt a safe and happy home to live out his older years, register your interest here - https://buff.ly/3JkbryH

HAPPILY REHOMED 🏡 - Trixie (now Daisy) was recently adopted by Sue and is already loving life with her new forever family.

Having started life as a stray, we're so pleased to see her thriving and happy. 💕

We're not just here for dogs and cats! Our on-site clinic also cares for injured and ill local wildlife, like this little hoglet that came to us recently. 🦔

We act as a triage center, aiming to return animals to their natural habitats. If they need longer care, we transfer them to local wildlife specialists once they're stable.

By donating to Bristol A.R.C., you're helping more than just dogs, cats, and small animals—you’re also supporting local wildlife in need - https://buff.ly/3WEtSEa

Logan came into our care after sadly being found abandoned and underweight. Despite his past, it hasn't stopped Logan from being a confident and smiley dog.

He is a true gentle giant who loves nothing more than cuddling into his human friends so you’ll need to be open to sharing your sofa! Being a big softie, he doesn’t quite know his size and he will try to climb up or be on your lap for cuddles during relaxing time. He has been learning some more appropriate methods of receiving affection from humans, including encouragement to keep his paws on the floor for fuss and ear scratches.

Logan enjoys playtime with soft toys and walks well on the lead, mostly plodding alongside his human companion with the lead slack.

Being a laid-back guy, Logan could live with another dog but wouldn’t be suited to cats or very young children. Logan could live with older children who would be understanding of his size and have had experience of living with dogs before.

Register your interest in Logan here - https://buff.ly/4dfBnrZ

Nala came into our care after her owner was unable to cope. She arrived incredibly nervous and struggled to accept any affection.

After some one one-on-one time with our animal carers and lots of love and care given on her terms, she has come on leaps and bounds and is now enjoying affection and growing in confidence.

We're all so proud of Nala's progress, seeing her grow from scared and timid to finding her personality is why we do what we do. 😸

Your donation ensures cats like Nala get a second chance at happiness - https://buff.ly/3WEtSEa

Muttley is a gorgeous dog with big brown eyes and shaggy fur, he's impossible to resist. At 25kg, this large crossbreed is full of personality! Our team loves his funny antics; we're sure he'll make you giggle too.

While Muttley can be wary of new people and situations, he warms up quickly. Once he does, he loves playing with his soft toys and cuddling up for some fuss. ❤️

Our Story

We’ve been caring for the city’s pets and wildlife since 1887, helping, healing and homing over 14,000 vulnerable animals each year. We are the oldest and largest local animal charity, and although we are proud to be affiliated with the RSPCA, we receive no automatic funding from it. We rely entirely on local support within the community to fund our vital work.
