A little more information about Willsbridge Walkies...

Do you feel worried about leaving your pet at home when you go to work? Would you just like your pet to have a bit more company when you are unable to be with them? I’m Tania and I’m the owner of Willsbridge Walkies. I grew up in Scotland and rural Wiltshire and moved into the Bristol area a few years ago. It’s a great area to live in with so

me fabulous countryside on the doorstep for walks. I offer luxury doggy daycare and boarding in my home, with help from my husband and occasionally my sons. We are based in Longwell Green, next to Willsbridge Mill, which is very handy for dog walks! As a dog owner myself, I understand that your dog is an important part of your family and I will look after your pet as if he or she were my own. I understand that it is hard leaving your pets but sometimes it has to be done, and it is so much easier when you know your pet is safe and happy! All of my services include a free update service so that you can feel secure in the knowledge that you pet is happy and being taken good care of. Before I take on a new client, I offer a free meet and greet session. This gives me a chance to to know you and your pet before booking—and you and your pet can get to know me too. I am trained in Daycare and boarding, Pet First Aid, have a full DBS certificate and Public Liability Insurance. I also hold the IMDT Career as a dog trainer certificate,
I’m also thrilled to say that I am currently studying further with the IMDT to become a dog behaviourist and trainer. The IMDT is the leading education provider for Dog Trainers and Behaviourists. Please get in touch if you have any questions about my services or would like to make a booking.

It really isn’t worth taking the risk! Please don’t walk your dog in the heat.

Today I am grateful NOT to be working in clinic. No not to enjoy the sunshine, but to be away from the devastation that heatstroke still causes despite multiple warnings. I am grateful not to be battling to save lives, and witnessing unnecessary deaths of wonderful dogs who would have quite happily missed a walk today.

To all my veterinary colleagues, I just hope you do not have to see too many tragedies today. Sending lots of love and healing as it’s part of our job which should no longer be part of our job and has a huge negative mental impact.

We always walk in small groups, usually with one person for every 2-3 dogs, Walking dogs in small groups rather than large groups or individually has several benefits:

1. Easier Management: It’s more manageable to control and supervise a smaller number of dogs. This reduces the risk of incidents such as fights or dogs running off.
2. Personalized Attention: Each dog can receive more individual attention and care when in a smaller group. We can better cater to their needs, such as allowing different paces or focusing on specific training.
3. Socialization Opportunities: Small groups allow dogs to socialize in a safer and more controlled environment. They can interact with each other more comfortably, which is beneficial for their social skills.
4. Safety: Walking in smaller groups reduces the chances of overwhelming dogs, especially those who may be anxious or reactive. It also minimizes the risk of tangling leads or other accidents.
5. Logistical Ease: Planning routes, picking up after dogs, and ensuring everyone’s safety is more straightforward with fewer dogs. This enhances the overall walking experience for both dogs and the walkers.

Overall, walking dogs in small groups promotes a more enjoyable and safer experience for all involved, fostering better socialization and individualized care.
