*REHOMING POST*
Sadly a lady has passed away suddenly and her two dogs are now needing a new loving home. Her children unfortunately work full time and don’t have the time to care for them as they deserve. We have offered to help share them on Facebook first before attempting rescue centres as most are full.

Millie black colour, 5 years old and Darcy tan colour, 8 years old. Both females and both very cuddly and friendly dogs. Ideally would like to keep them together as a pair 💕

If you or anyone you know is seriously interested or have any advice please message ‘Laxey Cattery’ and we can pass your details over to one of the lady’s children to discuss further.

Even just sharing this post would be massively appreciated by the family 🫶🏼

Thank you,
Millie & Darcy 🐾

(I will note these dogs won’t just be handed over to anyone, checks and meets will 100% be done prior, I have also now forwarded a few rescue’s to them to contact when they have time for advice/help too)

*BIG NEWS for 2025* 😺👏🏼
We would like to announce that due to all your amazing support and loyalty this year we are now VAT registered at Laxey Cattery. As much as this is news to congratulate, as I’m sure you’re all aware, this does mean our prices will increase to include VAT-despite everything still increasing such as heating, maintenance costs, staff and supplies we haven’t increased our prices we have simply just added VAT to them.

We believe due to a few catteries closing this year and because of all our amazing regular customers that the demand has been higher than ever before so we again would like to take this opportunity and thank you all for allowing us to look after all your precious and amazing family meow-mbers 😻

We hope this change won’t deter many of you from us however, this is something out of our control hence why it is late notice and we really hope that we can continue to provide the best care for all our furry friends in the future! 🐾

We currently will still be cash or cheque only but will be able to provide receipts for those that need one and eventually card payments will be introduced in the future😃

(Any bookings that are checking in Dec 2024 and checking out in January 2025 will stay the same price as 2024. All bookings that now START in January 2025 or after the new prices will apply too, regardless if they were booked in 2024)

The pain we all feel today is heavy, it’s been a sad day for us at Laxey Cattery. Our Marley has sadly passed the rainbow bridge today. He will forever be a big part of all of us at Laxey Cattery and we will miss him massively. He was a very special boy, with a very sad story and we will never regret giving him a chance at experiencing love, warmth, attention and of course lots of food, his absolute favourite.

For those who don’t know we took Marley in just over a year ago under very sad circumstances, we nursed him back to health before we attempted to rehome him but sadly he didn’t settle, we believe he got so used to the cattery he just wanted to be with us. (A massive thankyou to Beth who attempted to have him for a month, he will forever thank you for trying as do we) We were going to attempt rehoming him again but unfortunately the last few months he became unwell again and the last few weeks he deteriorated very quickly so we had further tests done which were costly but we all grew so fond of him we knew it had to be done. Today we sadly got the dreaded “C” diagnosis for him but it ultimately wasn’t treatable or removable and quite a nasty one too so we decided to let him rest in peace today and end his suffering 💔

He spent his last moments in our home last night with freshly cooked chicken and a bed to sleep on and he knew nothing but love the last year by staff and our customers who may of met him wandering around. We spoilt him as our own and we wish we could’ve continued to heal him in so many ways but ultimately he chose us and we chose him. We will forever treasure the memories he gave us and not seeing him again is going to break all of our hearts but we will be collecting you soon to stay with us at Laxey forever Mars 🖤

RIP our handsome, expensive but lovable boy. We hope your next life is even better than this one, you deserve it. Our brave boy- 02/12/24 🪽🕊️🐈‍⬛

*Polite notice regarding flea treatments*

Firstly we do not have a flea problem at the cattery however it is a risk in any cattery setting. Unfortunately flea treatments is something very hard to police unlike vaccinations as we cannot prove customers are regularly flea treating and also we cannot make people flea treat on every check in as it can only be done once a month for safety reasons. Because of this we do rely on customers honesty and common sense that if you know your cat has fleas or isn’t regularly treated that you do not use a cattery. We have had a few occasions this year of customers admitting to struggling with controlling flea’s (completely not passing blame as fleas have become demons in the last year) and we would really appreciate, if this is the case, that you do cancel a booking with us to protect other cats we look after.

We have been made aware by many vet surgery’s this year that frontline, bob Martin and some other supermarkets brands are now being proven to be ineffective and resistant to fleas and some even dangerous to cats. This means Laxey will always advise you use veterinary prescribed flea treatments however we do believe advocate is still effective.

We have a very thorough deep cleaning process for any pens that cats are showing flea dirt or fleas and this is done after they check out, we have never had an outbreak luckily but this year a lot of people do seem to be admitting to having problems at home. This post is to just help and inform our customers to prevent a flea outbreak ever occurring at Laxey!

As explained cats should be treated once a month, if you just flea treat once a year or just once just before a cattery stay this is much less effective protection than flea treating once a month, 12 months a year, even if you do have an indoor cat. Fleas can come from clothing, fields, wild animals, shoes so it’s not just from other pets!

We would always appreciate you cancelling over bringing your cat in with fleas (if you are already aware they have them) as this protects other people’s pets and our cattery and we would always try our best to help with back up options if you needed.

Our flea policy is: if we do spot your cat with fleas or any evidence of flea dirt then we contact you to ask when your cat(s) were last treated and with what brand you used. This then gives us an indication of whether we can contact your vets to get a veterinary prescribed treatment or not. We cannot double dose if you admit to treating your cat recently however if it’s using an ineffective brand then most vets do allow us to double dose, so again we rely on honesty if we should need to contact you!

Thank you for reading and understanding and we know most people are aware of all the above but we feel an informative post may help some people that are unaware of any of the above🐾 🤍

*REHOMING POST* *PLEASE SHARE *

We have a very special handsome boy that needs rehoming- his name is Marley! He has been in the cattery for nearly 8 months but sadly the owner is still not in a position to have Marley so has agreed for us to find him a forever loving home 🏡

He is estimated to be around 11 years old and his vaccine booster is due in November, he is NOT chipped so any owner will need to pay and get this done. He is a very loving boy but unfortunately does not like other cats so will need to be an only cat (this is a must) he’s not shown any aggression apart from at the very start he was a little hissy but calmed down very quickly and shows no signs of any aggression just loves fuss and food. Food is his favourite, especially wet food he prefers Whiskas but he’s really not fussy! He likes to sit on laps and loves rubbing his head on shoes.

He does have a few needs.. one is he has thyroid medicine (Thyronorm) 2.5ml in his wet food AM & PM but he LOVES wet food so is very easy to take and it costs around £57 per month for this medicine. He is litter trained and NEVER toilets outside of his tray but he would potentially need a covered litter tray as he can sometimes miss with his wee however this could just be as he’s in a cattery and being territorial.

He has been flea’d every month with us and we have some spare treatments that he can take home with him. (14th July and 14th August are his next due flea treatments) He also has a new bottle of Thyronorm to go home with too (we may need to use some depending on how long he is with us for)

He was used to being an indoor cat but ideally we would like him to have a catio or a garden to be able to have a little roam if he wishes once he’s settled in. As he’s been with us for so long he MUST stay inside for 4-6 weeks before any outdoor setting (unless a safe catio) is introduced to him.

We all absolutely love Marley here at Laxey Cattery and we will miss him dearly so we will be ensuring he gets the best possible home as he deserves it. He’s been our special resident and we will all be sad but glad to see him go 🖤

** Polite notice **

We are currently having some work done on run 6 (the very end of our cattery) this does mean we are currently operating at a reduced capacity however we estimate the work should be completed by the end of May and will be back to full capacity for summer. This does mean that there will be slightly more noise than usual at times but we need to maintain the cattery before the busy summer begins. Hope you can all understand but if anyone would like to cancel any bookings in May for this reason, please just let us know! 🐾 🐱
