Just wrapped up a sit with my little shadow and I’m missing the little dude already🐾🩵

He’s a special boy who finds new situations overwhelming but with time, patience and plenty of reassurance plus discussions about his needs with his dog mama - we became the best of friends.
We’ve spent our days having long walks in the local area, cuddles and naps as well as figuring out creative ways to tempt him to eat his food including enrichment activities!

He’s followed me absolutely everywhere - even to the toilet and shower😂

It’s such a privilege supporting anxious or sensitive dogs and learning to understand their individual needs!
It’s the best job being able to provide them with care and a safe environment while their family are away!

This is why I love my job!✨

A month ago, I met a dog who was terrified of me.
Every visit was met with barking, distance, and a whole lot of uncertainty. He didn’t know me, and I didn’t expect trust to come easily - especially for this rescue dog who has clearly been through a lot before coming to this home, his forever home.

Fast forward to now, after weeks of gentle check-ins, patience, and showing up consistently two to three times a week - we’ve built a beautiful bond.
He now comes to me for cuddles, happily accepts treats (ham is the absolute favourite) and lets me walk around his space without stress or fear.

Moments like these remind me exactly why I love my job so much. It’s not just about the walks - it’s about building trust, forming connections, and seeing nervous, unsure dogs learn that they’re safe and loved.

Watching this boy’s transformation has been the highlight of my month - and a reminder that even the smallest wins are worth celebrating!💛

Here’s to the quiet progress, the tail wags hard-won, and the power of patience🐾✨

They’ve been my little shadows during the day, yes even to the toilet! And the best snuggle companions during the night!
We’ve been on plenty of long walks together - even some where we got caught in the rain ☔️ plus they enjoyed a good game of fetch with their favourite ball!

Every dog has their own personality and these two are no exception, they’re full of cheekiness and love! Already missing them and their bouncy morning greetings!🐾🩷💙

I always hear dog professionals say that ‘trust takes time’ and this is a perfect example of just that!✨

When I first met this gorgeous boy, he barked at me the entire visit. He was nervous, unsure, and needed space and that was completely okay.
Over the past few months, we’ve taken it slow, building a relationship at his pace, and I’m so proud of how far he’s come.

This week we completed a four-day dog sit together, and for the first time, he was able to be totally content without his owner and just myself for company.
From the moment I arrived, his tail didn’t stop wagging and we spent our days enjoying enrichment activities and calm, adapted ‘walks’ that felt safe and positive for him.

He’s proof that with a lot of patience, understanding, and consistency: nervous dogs can learn to feel secure.
Watching his confidence grow has been a privilege✨💛
