🐾💦 Helping Our Senior Dogs Stay Strong: The Benefits of the Underwater Treadmill! 💦🐾

As our beloved dogs age, their joints can get stiff, muscles weaken, and mobility decreases—but that doesn’t mean their quality of life has to! One amazing tool more pet parents are discovering is the underwater treadmill. 🐶❤️

Here’s why it’s a game-changer for geriatric dogs:

✅ Low-Impact Exercise – The buoyancy of water reduces stress on joints, making movement easier and more comfortable.
✅ Improves Mobility & Strength – Controlled resistance helps build muscle without overstraining aging bodies.
✅ Pain Relief – Warm water can soothe arthritis and joint pain, promoting relaxation and healing.
✅ Safe Environment – With close supervision and gentle support, dogs can walk safely, even if they have balance issues.
✅ Boosts Confidence & Mental Health – Movement keeps not just the body, but the mind, active and engaged!

Whether your pup is recovering from surgery or just slowing down with age, we can help them feel better, move better, and live better. 🐕💙

🔔✨ Sweet, Strong & Soaring Forward ✨🔔

Earlier this year, Belle underwent a hemilaminectomy at T11-T12—a spinal surgery that helps relieve pressure on the spinal cord caused by issues such as a disc extrusion in Belle’s case. While her initial recovery went well, her owner noticed she was still a bit weak in her back legs.

That’s where rehabilitation stepped in! With a combination of physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, Belle began building strength, balance, and confidence. At first, she was a little nervous (totally understandable!), but thanks to the magic of yakers chews and a whole lot of cuddles, we’ve become the best of friends.

Today was a huge milestone—Belle completed her first full hydrotherapy session, and she absolutely smashed it!

Hydrotherapy is a low-impact way to strengthen muscles, improve mobility, and support recovery—all while keeping it gentle on joints. Belle was a superstar, and we’re so proud of how far she’s come.

Here’s to more tail wags, stronger strides, and yakers-fueled sessions ahead!

Is your dog recovering from an injury or surgery? Or maybe they're just getting a little older and need some extra joint support? Hydrotherapy might be just what they need! 🌊

💧 What is Hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy uses water to help improve mobility, strength, and overall well-being. The buoyancy of water supports their body, making movement easier while also providing a low-impact workout. It’s the perfect solution for dogs with arthritis, muscle injuries, obesity, or even just a need for a little fitness boost!

🐕 Benefits of Hydrotherapy for Your Dog:

Improved Mobility: Helps dogs with arthritis, joint pain, or stiffness move with less discomfort.
Injury Recovery: Supports healing by promoting muscle strength without straining the body.

Weight Management: A fun, low-impact way for overweight dogs to get in shape.

Enhanced Flexibility: Gentle water resistance increases range of motion and joint flexibility.

Mental Stimulation: Water exercises engage your dog’s mind while helping them build strength.

This is the wonderful Sammy, 🐈‍⬛ he’s a rescue and 18 years old. Sammy has been struggling with osteoarthritis in his elbows and knees.

When I first started treating Sammy he was nervous and unsure of treatment so we slowly and positively introduced massage and LASER therapy. He tends to get tight through his back and limps on his left front leg. Through the help of massage to relieve muscle tense and LASER to aid in pain relief and help reduce inflammation he’s now a much happier cat! Sammy now purrs through the whole session and after I leave the he happily carries on napping the same place 💤

His owners had said he used to struggle climbing stairs and had become quieter than usual, since recivivng his regular physiotherapy he has gone back to his usual self demanding attention (on his terms!) and happy to be around the other cats in the house again.

Way to go Sammy 🎉

Physiotherapy isn’t just for dogs! At maple tails we love treating all animals small and large. Comment and introduce your cats 🐱
