Blue Cross Bromsgrove rehoming centre

Blue Cross Bromsgrove rehoming centre The Bromsgrove centre opened in 1986 and is now one of our largest centres. Located in Catshill, Bromsgrove, it serves a wide base of the local community.
(76)

The site operates from a former commercial boarding kennels, but has been completely rebuilt over the years. The original purchase of the site was largely due to a generous bequest from a local benefactor who recognised the need for an animal welfare presence in the area. Our primary function is the intake and rehoming of both cats and dogs into new, loving homes. The kennel block has 25 dog kenne

ls, and 25 cat units as well as an isolation unit for cats. The cattery was fully refurbished in March 2013. We also rehome cats and dogs through the Home Direct Rehoming Service which has now been rolled out across the organisation. This service means we can help more people rehome their pets without the need for their animals to come into a rescue environment. We have a large team of dedicated volunteers and foster carers. The Centre has 18 staff employed by Blue Cross, which consists of Centre Manager, a Re Homing Supervisor and Veterinary Supervisor, 3 Receptionist, a Volunteer Co-ordinator and a team of animal welfare assistants. Address: Wildmoor Lane, Catshill, Bromsgrove, Worcs B61 0RJ
Tel: 0300 777 1460
Please note the phone lines are open 10am - 4pm ONLY. Centre Manager: Neil Edwards
Opening hours:
Monday to Saturday (except Wednesday): 11.00am – 4.00pm
Wednesday: Closed
Sunday and bank holidays: 11.00am–4.00pm (with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day)

Today is , and we want to celebrate brave Nora, who saved the life of another kitten who was on the brink of death. πŸ’™

Cookie arrived with us weighing just 350g and suffering from flea anaemia and conjunctivitis.

At just eight-weeks-old, she needed a blood transfusion, and it was fate when Nora, was a match and could donate some blood.

These cases don’t always have a happy ending, but for Cookie the blood transfusion saved her.

Thank you, Nora for lending your paw to another cat in need. 🐾

Calling all dog lovers! πŸ“’ We need your help to get this post some attention.

Juno has been reserved to be adopted three times now, but they keep falling through and she doesn't understand why.

Gentle and loving, she'd happily play and explore all day if she could. You'd never guess that Juno is also blind. Sadly, we think the thought of any additional needs she may have are putting people off. But the team are confident she'll settle into a new home really well and could even get on with most other dogs or dog-savvy cats!

Can we find Juno the home she so deserves? πŸ‘‰ https://bit.ly/3O45I28

This , we honour the men, women, and animals of war who sacrificed so much. πŸ’™

You can pay your respects to some of the animals that served, like Simba, by visiting The Old Blue Cross Pet Cemetery. 🐾 This cemetery marks the final resting places of pets that belonged to service personnel, as well as pets of members of the local community.

Our Blue Cross Fund supported animals during both the First and Second World Wars, and we take great pride in our heritage.

Poor Lucy. πŸ’” Through no fault of her own, she's found herself returned to our care after a change in circumstances meant her new home didn't work out.

Despite the uncertain time that she's had recently, she's been thriving in foster where she's enjoying all the attention. She loves to be close to her foster carer and enjoys snuggling as you can see! We can't think of a better way to spend a .

It has now been over 30 years since the infamous Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 was passed. πŸ’” This piece of legislation is renowned for being ill-considered, hastily created, and poorly drafted.

That's why we're calling for a complete repeal. Help us make that happen by writing to your local MP in support of our pet manifesto. πŸ‘‰ https://bit.ly/3C2UOak

Pregnant stray Tigerlily wasn't even a year old herself when she was brought into our hospital, moments away from giving birth. πŸ’—

Although one was sadly stillborn, the other four kittens were healthy and transferred along with Mum to foster care. As you can see they've gone from strength to strength!

This young family are among an unprecedented number of cats and kittens finding themselves in our care. We encourage everyone to neuter their pets so no cat ends up alone and in need like Tigerlily.

This may be a distressing watch. ⚠ Captured on CCTV by one of our horse borrowers, a spontaneous fireworks display in a nearby field shows the devastating effect of explosive bangs and flashing lights on horse welfare. πŸ’”

This borrower hadn't been informed of the planned fireworks display taking place so close to her field, otherwise she would have taken the necessary steps to keep these horses as safe as possible. However, we’re still urging people to reconsider planning or attending bonfire night displays altogether and instead, consider pets and wildlife.

It might be Halloween but the only scary thing here is that this little pumpkin is still in our care after 220 days. 😱 Aged 10, she's been through a lot and deserves a real second chance at happiness.

She's even trying out a new name to see if it helps get her any extra attention! Not that we think she needs it. 😻 Meet her πŸ‘‰ https://bit.ly/48BjJhy

When three tiny kittens were left on our hospital doorstep in the early hours of the morning, it was touch and go whether they would survive. πŸ’” But brought inside to warm up in the nick of time, apart from being covered in fleas, the kittens appeared to be in good health.

Estimated to be around five or six weeks old, they were too young to have been separated from their mother. But with round the clock care in an amazing foster home, they grew stronger by the day.

Having been abandoned so close to Halloween, we couldn't resist naming them after a very famous family! Can you guess which one? πŸ‘»πŸŽƒ

We know abandoning a pet could only be someone's last resort, so we urge anyone that is struggling to look after their pets to come directly to us so we can help, with no judgment. Thankfully little fighters Gomez, Morticia and Wednesday will soon be on their way to new families for a fresh start.

Let's bust those black cat myths for good! πŸ–€

Sadly some still consider black cats to be superstitious, which can make them harder to rehome. We couldn't disagree more. In reality, the only supernatural powers that black cats possess are ones of unconditional love and affection, just like any other cat.

Abandoned with their whiskers cut off, eight kittens and two cats were found terrified outside our Hammersmith animal hospital. πŸ’”

Cutting a cat's whiskers is not only painful for cats, but can also impede their spacial awareness as they rely on these thick sensory hairs to explore the world around them.

Our team dropped everything to make sure these kittens and cats got the love and care they needed before finding loving new homes.

They are among a large number of stray and unwanted cats coming through our doors this year, stretching our services to the max. πŸ₯Ί

Please donate today to help us be there for more pets like this. πŸ’™

We dropped a petition to end greyhound racing off to No. 10 Downing Street! Having passed the 100,000 signature milestone (111,155 signatures to be exact), the petition will be considered for debate in Parliament. 🀞

Daisy's been on quite the journey since being brought into our care as a stray over a year ago. Arriving in our care and struggling with severe cat flu and conjunctivitis, we treated her with fluids and antibiotics and she responded well. πŸ™

However sadly, it was then one thing after another from there. Ongoing diarrhoea, ear infections in both ears, and even a nasty bout of ringworm caught from some kittens in foster care, we weren't sure if poor Daisy would ever make a full recovery.

But finally, she fought off her ailments one by one and has been healthy and symptom-free for several months. Just look at her now! β–Ά

Having been in our care for so long, Daisy's world is quite small and she's looking for a patient and understanding owner who will take the time to let her settle in. In return, she'll make the most wonderful companion! πŸ‘‰ https://bit.ly/408YC3R

Breeze is a beautiful 4year old ex-racing greyhound❀️
She has a lovely nature and is a delight to be around. She loves her walks and to come back and snuggle down on a cosy sofa for a snooze.

She sat in rescue for 9 months before she came to Blue Cross, and she's wondering why no one has fallen in love with her 😞

If you're looking for a fab companion to share your sofa with, please send in an application and one of the team will call you to discuss her in more detail https://www.bluecross.org.uk/pet/breeze-1163662

We recently received a lovely update on a cat we re-homed a few years ago, it's lovely to hear shy cats coming out of their shell and here's what his owners have to say:

"2 years ago today my partner and I adopted Spirit (now Atlas/Bogman), one of the most anxious cats in the cattery, and I just wanted to share this update and some more pics of our glorious chonk!
The 3 of us now finally share a lovely little house in Bristol where Bogman now roams the garden and guards it on top of the neighbours' fence!
He continues to be quirky - meowing relentlessly when I'm in the bath and neatly gathering and arranging all his toys (plus my socks and balls of wool!) on his rug at night.
And he absolutely loves his cuddles, bring brushed and, of course, his nightly treats!"
