Hillfields are in desperate need of help. We are financially struggling as it is with the animals that we have taken in over the last few months. We had a huge vet bill for our beautiful skewbald mare Lucy due to the nextdoor neighbour planting a poisonous laurel hedge right next to the horses fencing. He had a conversation with us when his fencing came down during the bad storm we had. He assured me he was going to put up new fencing.
However, without my knowledge he planted the poisonous hedge along side our fence in our top field resulting in the horses pulling it through and causing a £1,200 vet bill which took a huge blow to our funds. We then had months of trying to get her to recover and we were told she would die. Thankfully Lucy pulled through it had damaged her kidney and liver . So we had to then put up something to stop the animals from getting near the fence. We came up with the blue tarpaulin which cost us more money but it did the job so the animals could graze safely . Due to the recent winds the fencing all came down again. We are in desperate need for a work party or fencing panels to secure the fencing to make a secure fence that the animals can’t see the plants . The neighbour isn’t doing anything so we need to fix it before the animals get poisoned again and they can start enjoying their beautiful field to graze on . Any help, funds, fencing material would be most appreciated. We just want to get back to the animals going out and enjoying themselves in their fields grazing instead of the constant stress we are enduring at this time and worry which is taking its toll.
