Sally had a couple of trial nights before her longer stay. Now she has settled straight in so her owners can enjoy a relaxing holiday safe in the knowledge that she is settled and happy 🥰.

Marley came for her trial night before her Christmas stay. She and Loki had been a little unsure of each other in the meet and greet but we didn’t need to worry, they soon became best buddies- Loki even gave up his sofa spot for her! They both tried to show Jasper how to sit nicely when he arrived this morning, but he was more interested in trying to show them how to play 🤣

Sally came for a stay and play today, she’s such a beautiful soul and a little nervous about being away from Mum and Dad. She took a little while to settle but once she was comfortable she loved having a go at the snuffle mat, playing with Damien and showing off her obedience with Loki 🥰 we can’t wait to have her stay for her trial night!

Final Summer Recap
It was with mixed emotions that we said a final goodbye to our foster dog. She came to us last September after a plea on Facebook when her owner was going into hospital for two weeks. Due to unforeseen complications in her owner’s circumstances she was with us for a lot longer than planned! Having her was a major contributing factor to starting The Dog Lodge and we’ll be forever grateful to her 😆. We won’t name her or post a picture on here out of respect for her owner’s privacy but some of you may have met her and eagle eyes might see her in the background of some of our photos! We were super happy that we reunited her with her owner as rehoming was on the cards for a while but we miss her too, she is a character!! 🫣

Summer Recap 14
Lady was our last guest of the summer, she’s been coming to us for daycare for a while so settled in quickly. She’s one that is a bit finicky with food at home but given pressure of the other dogs eyeing up her dinner she soon gobbles it up 😂. She developed a passion for Damien’s socks and so he had to get into the habit of putting them in the laundry hamper- spaniels can be useful in training husbands 😂

Summer recap 13
Loki #2 stayed with us for the bank holiday weekend, he searched every ball out from on or under every sofa, table and other furniture. Occasionally we wouldn’t be able to find the ball and were convinced that he was mistaken but in further inspection every time he was right!! He tested out every bed (except his own) in between ball hunting expeditions!

Summer recap 12
Roxy is a beautiful dog in both looks and personality. She is so eager to please and loves to offer her paw to shake at every opportunity! She particularly enjoyed playing with the enrichment toys as food is her number one priority. While Roxy was with us the bin had to go in the cupboard as she worked out how to open it 😂 she is tall so we had to be on high alert not to leave food within reach in the kitchen too!

Summer recap 11
We love puppies at the dog lodge! They keep us on our toes and provide endless entertainment 😁 Max is no exception, he loved playing with Willow and attempting to engage Loki, who is not usually interested in puppy play! He is just a cuteness overload and loves cuddles (which is just as well as he didn’t get much choice in the matter 😂).

Summer Recap 10
Luna stayed with us for the last week of the holiday and we also looked after her sibling cats (at their house not ours!). She soon claimed her dedicated spot on the sofa, much to Loki’s chagrin- I spent much of the week as the filling of a spaniel sandwich 😂. She is great to take for a walk as her recall is 100% - as long as you have a ball 🥎 😁. All the balls in the house had already been recovered by our previous spaniel guest Loki #2 so we knew we were safe from any inside ball obsession 😂.

Summer recap 9
Willow was an amazing guest. She is a rescue and so timid to begin with but over the week she definitely found her feet! She made so many breakthroughs, including letting Damien come anywhere near her without barking! At the beginning of the week she had to be fed separately from the other dogs but we discovered that she tolerated the puppy Max in the room and even let him come close so we built from that to Loki staying near (he’s trained to not approach food without permission) and by the end of the week she was eating with all the others 🥰. She discovered that it was more fun to drink the water from the fountain rather than the fresh bowl full 🤣. We did so much activity with her, likki mats, puzzles and toys, she needed a lot of engagement! One highlight of the week was taking her with Loki on a canicross run- he loves showing other dogs the ropes!
