- Out In The Day - Is an emergency 🚨 please don’t delay in getting them help. They need urgent medical attention 🚑

This poor hog is literally crying out for help. She’s had sc fluids and pain relief while he warms in the incubator. All I can do is make her comfortable and hope she’s strong enough to keep fighting, then we can start medication for her internal parasites when she’s stable 🤎🦔

Update - Unfortunately she got to us too late, she passed away early this evening 🌈

- Dahlia - ‘Meet my new bed buddy. I’ve named him Big Boris’ 🕷️😳

Dahlia didn’t get the memo about being a solitary mammal and invited Big Boris in for a sleep over. We’ll just be leaving him safely under the net for Hedgehog Hubby to deal with.

Unless Dahlia fancy’s herself an afternoon snack 🤎🦔

(She does have a lid to her hutch. Servant is currently too scared for her life to put it back)

- Behind The Scenes - Rescue takes its toll, a day I’ve been dreading. I cried all the way to the vets, then all the way home 🌈

I hope this is an educational post to help raise awareness, it is illegal to place a rat trap without a box or tunnel. Open traps do not discriminate and harm our precious hedgehogs, birds, pets, and other wildlife that may wander into the area.

Just leaving his Mum, this little one should be exploring a whole new world of foraging in the wild. A perfect little spikey ball of innocence caught up in one careless human mistake.

This 5 week hoglet deserved more. Sleep tight precious, you we’re loved 🌈🦔

- Rose - Look at the difference after just 8 days 🥹

When Rose came in she was in such a bad shape, I was worried if she would make it. She’s not out of the woods yet but she’s put on a massive 225g!

This weather really is so hard on these little prickles, please continue to look out for those in need 🤎

- Did You Know? - Hedgehogs won’t move at the sound of your garden machinery? 🌈

Tonight we had a call out to a young hedgehog in Alcester. Another victim with a strimmer injury. Unfortunately nothing could be done to save this little one.

His lovely finder tried to get help from a local vet who refused to see an animal that is suffering. Which is a breach of their duty of care under RCVS Professional Conduct.

Vets are legally expected to provide first aid and alleviate suffering when wildlife is brought in, even if they don’t specialize in wildlife 🌈💔

- New Intake - Meet little Toni 🥹

This brave boy was spotted out in the countryside during the day — not where such a tiny hoglet should be!

At only 129g, he should still be with Mum, but instead he’s starting his journey with us. He’s about 3–4 weeks old, with his very first teeth just coming through.

In just 48 hours he’s packed on an amazing 50g, thanks to round-the-clock feeds from hoglet Nanny.
