- Pine Nut - What a big beautiful hog 🥹 he’s been the sweetest to take care of over winter.

Thankfully, we have a little window in warmer weather this week, so he’s graduating to a sheltered hutch. Where he can acclimatise ready to go home to his finders in Alvechurch. We super excited to start moving the hogs that have over wintered with us, back to health and back to the wild where they belong 🤎🦔

- Spikey - This week HQ had a phone call to Breme Park. This little one had a rude wake up call from the gardening contractors, which left him exposed. Luckily he had no injuries & was still in a hibernation daze. So after a quick check over he was pop back into the hedge with lots of extra hay & some snacks.

Lovingly named Spikey by the sweetest little boy, who helped by collecting some extra leaves for his nest 🍁🍂🪹🍂🍁

Another reminder to keep an eye out for our precious prickles who might need help 🤎

- Spike - Throwback to a very special wee bean 🤎 What was i thinking, giving him all that food to make a mess in? 🥰

Spike was found out in the day on the field opposite to the rescue. All on his own at just 114g he was hand fed special formular. When he was big enough, he was set free to explore the big wide world 🤎🦔

- Thank you - We have the kindest supporters. We are always so grateful for all the gifts we get for the rescue. Helping these beautiful wee beans simply wouldn’t be possible without you 🤎🦔

This week the hogs received 2 packages from Amazon. Unfortunately they didn’t have a gift note, so thank you to whoever kindly sent these.

Both Chloe and Anne kindly gifted us some straw so the hogs have lots of supplies for nest building.

We also purchased some medication for treating parasites with a gift card that we received at Christmas, thank you Pickles’ family.

Last but not least Array4Hogs Hedgehog Rescue kindly shared some food donations with our hungry, hungry hogs - and something special we’re working on which we can’t wait to show you! 🤎🦔

- Did you know? - Pickles is celebrating a special day for her and all of her prickly friends 🥳

Today is National Hedgegog Day, a chance to spread awareness of Britain’s most be loved mammal 🤎

🦔 Hedgehog populations in the UK have declined between 30-75%

🦔 In 2020, hedgehogs were added to the red list for British mammals, as a creature risk of extinction

🦔 Hedgehos are now listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN list

BUT you can help…. It’s not all doom and gloom, there are many ways you can help 🤎

🦔 Why not make your garden more hedgehog friendly - Do you have a hedgehog highway?

🦔 Creat a log pile to encourage snacks for hedgehogs

🦔 Create a hedgehog feed station with kitten biscuits and fresh water

🦔 If you see an injured hedgehog take them to your nearest rescue or wildlife friendly vet

- Did You Know - We all have a responsibility to take care of our precious wildlife. If we’re going to look out for birds nesting, let’s also look out for hedgehogs hibernating 🪹🤎🦔

Prune your hedges, bushes, and trees before bird nesting season starts in March - because no one likes an overgrown mess! 😉🐦🌳✂️

Dispose of garden waste responsibly at your local recycling centre or check if your district council offers a collection service.

Let’s keep things neat and nature-friendly!

- Thank You - Wow, thank you so much Joy for restocking our Puppy mousse supplies. This will definitely be a great help for any hogs that we have in that have been struggling to find food over winter 🤎🦔

Please keep looking out for any hedgehogs out in the day, especially during the winter storms.
