πŸ’›πŸ’› Jackson

Super proud of this boy!!! As you can see on Jackson's collar he can be a nervous boy but that's not held him back in the pool. He really engages with me in the pool and smashed every session. You can see how fixed he is on his ball which helps me get the most out him in the pool when it comes to doing his exercises in the pool. And that paw comes out when he's finished his rests inbetween swims and raring to go.

I do get a lot of enquiries saying my dog is nervous and not sure how they will be. In those cases we let them lead the session and take it completely at their pace. First sessions are always taken slowly as everything is so new, the smells, the pool, new surroundings and me the CRAZY lady in the wetsuit 🀣🀣🀣🀣.

πŸ₯³πŸ₯³ Happy New Year to everyone when it arrives.

I want to say a massive thank you to all my AMAZING clients for being so supportive over the years and the vets for filling out all those referral formsπŸ˜†πŸ˜†. Next year Marks 10 years of being open!!! I can't believe it. I love my job so much and I've met some amazing people.

The hardest part is having to say goodbye to so many wonderful dogs over the years. But knowing that I've helped give them a better quality of life and being able to help and give them joy when being in the pool makes it all the more worthwhile. I've made friends for life. ❀❀

I look forward to seeing everyone next year and welcoming all the new clients booked in to start January.

I'm now away to enjoy the Fizz, Rum and Gin I received over the Christmas period from you guys 🀣🀣 aswell as all the other amazing gifts myself and the kids got. I still can't thank you all enough. ❀❀❀

Happy New Year to you all. πŸ’™β€

🧑🧑 Little Luna🧑🧑

Luna has been attending hydrotherapy after being diagnosed with luxating patella's. Being in the water allows Luna to have better range of movement and fully extend her hind legs without the added stress on her joints letting us build muscle around the knee cap to help support the weakness. It's important to control how much exercise Luna does in the pool to make sure she gets the benefit and not to cause further discomfort. The warm water and hydrostatic pressure helps with any pain and discomfort along with relaxing the muscles and easing tightness she is suffering from.

Luxating Patella is usually graded between one and four. Mild cases (low grades) can be managed conservatively with hydrotherapy, physio and acupuncture to name a few. Higher grades are more likely to require surgery then hydrotherapy and physio can be added to help post op.

If you think your dog may have luxating patella making an appointment with your vet for examination can help diagnose the condition and xrays to find out how severe it maybe. Symptoms can include lameness, skipping, hoping, clicking, abnormal gait and pain. Getting a diagnosis as soon as possible can help prevent further damage.

The vets were super happy with Luna's progress and have noticed a difference in Luna's muscle and found trying to pop the patella out of the trochlear groove took much more force now than her first examination. So they are happy that she no longer requires surgery at the moment. So just maintaince swims for this girl now to help maintain muscle and ideal body weight.

Well done Luna see you next year! 🧑

🧑 TAVISH

How beautiful is this boy!! I just adore a Gordon Setter. Tavish is another tripod dog I have in the pool and he's smashing it every session. Each session he's going from strength to strength and just amazes me with just how well he's getting on with life.

Within his second session Tavish was more controlled and was much more at ease now we are 4th session in and he's doing fantastic with much less assistance from me. You will probably spot his beautiful brother Tosh on the ramp giving him some encouragement 🀣🀣 and making sure he's doing his best.

πŸ§‘πŸ’™ keep up the good work boys. πŸ§‘πŸ’™

XL BULLY UPDATE

Evening. I've just received an email from my insurance company advising me that I can still treat XL Bullies. Thing's have changed obviously and I will have to follow some strict rules in order for my insurance to be valid during sessions taking place with the breed.

For any of my Bullies booking in for future sessions please message me and I can advise what documents I need and the new protocol during appointments.

Thanks

Weight management Wednesday.

Did you know keeping your dog at a nice healthy weight can help massively on their joints. Especially on older and arthritic dogs that excess weight can have a huge affect on already aching joints.

I've helped many dogs over the years with weight loss but Cody's weightloss is my biggest to date at 12 kilos. After fracturing her hip when she was younger Cody ended up with arthritis she struggled with her walks and ended up gaining weight. Cody Swam x2 a week and some changes to her diet she was like a new dog she was enjoying life again. I got to spend 5 years with this lady visiting me as after the weightloss her owners continued her Hydrotheraly to manage her weight and arthritis.

Sadly Miss Cody is no longer with us but I have great memories and photo's of our time together in the pool. Xx

These photo's popped up on my memories a few days ago and still make me so happy. πŸ₯°

As you can see from the first photo there's a large amount of muscle wastage to the left leg and hips. These pictures were post op as the specialist down South needed us to lose weight and gain muscle before they would go ahead with surgery.

The third photo is where we managed to get her post op and surgery was able to go ahead. Swimming twice a week we managed to get 8 kilos off and build that much needed muscle.

πŸ§‘πŸ’™ LAUX

An essential part of a rehab plan is having a clear goal and aim for my clients.

Laux was referred to me post op after under going surgery on his cruciate Ligament. With Laux being a British Bulldog (brachycephalic breed) we had to start slower than usual until I got to know Laux's ability. Straight after surgery he was fully weight bearing so we knew that his leg was doing very well. So it was mostly focusing on his breathing and not pushing him. In such a short space of time his fitness and swim time is increasing and every session he's smashing it out the park. Keep up the good work Laux πŸ’™.

And thank you to his mum I've learnt so much about bulldogs with her knowledge. 🧑

14/10/2023

Good morning everyone

Not a post that I like writing but anyone who misses an appointment will have to pay for their session before booking their next one.

For anyone paying by bank transfer please can you do so before or as soon as possible after the appointment.

This is how I make a living and when people don't turn up or forget to pay it all adds up and I lose my wages. With everything that's going on with price increases everywhere I can't afford to be dozens of sessions down a week.

Sorry for the negative post on a Saturday.

Thanks
Leeann. X

πŸ’™ Leo

Lovely little Leo attends weekly sessions with myself.

All sessions are different and with Leo we've adapted his swims to work best for him. We have lots of rest breaks (where I sneak in those cuddles πŸ₯°πŸ₯°) Leo doesn't fully extend so as you can see from the first picture a little bit of tickling on his pads helps his reflexes and we can get him moving better and getting a better range of movement in those hind quarters.

Our aim with Leo is keeping him mobile comfortable and maintaining muscle with not walking as much.

Doesn't he look adorable in his wee dry robe. 🀩😍😍

How gorgeous is Max in his new drying Robe. The weather is still pretty cool at the moment so after their swim it's a great idea to put something on. The pool is lovely and warm then followed by a toasty shower we want to keep those muscles warm on the journey home until he's snug back at home.

Fingers crossed we get a bit warmer weather soon and we can get the roof off!

πŸ’™ Rome

This was Rome's first session since his amputation and he managed amazingly. After a few initial swims with me guiding him he was able to keep himself stable and managed to swim unaided.

We will be working hard to build muscle in those remaining limbs to keep him strong and mobile for as long as possible. He has adapted so well after his surgery so adding swimming is another great additional exercise for him.

Well done Rome.🐟🐟🐟
