❤️An update on Wanda and Wendy❤️
Wanda and Wendy were admitted to us at 6 weeks old with severe flu. It was touch and go as to whether they would survive and if we could save their eyes. As you can see from the before and after photos, the kittens have made a remarkable recovery after receiving vet treatment and lots of TLC from our team. Sadly, we didn’t manage to save both of Wanda’s eyes and she had surgery to remove one of them. Wanda has recovered and adapted well after her surgery. Wanda and Wenda have now been reserved together and will be leaving us to their forever home shortly 🏡😻
A big thank you to everyone who has donated to our Just Giving appeal to raise funds towards their vet care, we appreciate your support. You can still donate to the appeal at https://www.justgiving.com/page/kitten-vetbill-appeal

😻Cat of the Week⭐️

The lovely Violet is a one year old neutered female. Violet was found with her kittens by a kind public member who took them to their home before she came to the centre. Violet has been an amazing mum to her two little kittens who have been adopted and is now looking for her forever home. We don’t know much about Violet’s background but we found her to be a friendly cat in our care. Her finder said that she was a little shy at the beginning but once she gained their trust, she was very sweet. They also said that Violet prefers to snuggle next to you rather than sit on your lap.
Violet is also our current sponsor cat; we are grateful to all our sponsors who make a real difference to cats like Violet. To find out more about Cats Protection Sponsor Scheme, please visit www.cats.org.uk/bac

Does anyone recognise this handsome boy who we have named Dylan? He was found hiding in the bonnet of a car. The car had travelled through the following areas:

1. Designer Outlet Village Bridgend CF32
2. Pantyrawel, CF32
3. Ogmore Vale CF32
4. Lewis Town CF32

Dylan could have got into the bonnet in any of these locations, he is approximately 6 months old, and not neutered or microchipped.
He is now safe with us at Wales Cat Centre (formally known as Bridgend Cats Protection.)

If he is yours, or you recognise him please contact us: [email protected] / 01656 724396
Proof of ownership will be required.

❤️🏠 HOME SWEET HOME 🏠❤️

Our adopters and supporters will recognise the beautiful Bow who was one of our longest staying cats. We are delighted to update you all that she finally left us for her forever home today after spending 174 days in care.

Bow arrived to us in May when her owner was moving and was sadly unable to take her along too. Being a 12 year old cat who had come from a quiet home with no other pets, understandably it took some time for her to adjust to centre life. She was very shy initially but our wonderful volunteers spent lots of time with her building her confidence and Bow especially loved having a brush during her weekly pamper sessions! She has the sweetest, most gentle nature and we are all so happy that she can finally put her paws up and relax in her new home with her wonderful new owner 😺❤️

❤️ WE LOVE A HAPPY ENDING ❤️

Many of our adopters and supporters will recognise the gorgeous Lyra, and we wanted to update you all with this lovely news.

The beautiful Lyra arrived at the centre in May. Whilst in our care we discovered that Lyra has IBD and was homed on a special diet to control this, and she also had to have an eye removed due to a painful condition called Keratitis. She is so much happier now after having the operation, and was back to her lovely, lively self in no time. Lyra has been a firm favourite with the staff here due to her sweet nature, and her playful personality. Lyra loved having cuddles, and she will be missed by us all. Today she finally left us, after spending 169 days in care. Here she is with her wonderful new family, and we wish them all the best 😺💕

Kitten Watch: Week 8 – The last week! 🐱🐱👀

Kittens Cinnamon, Costa, Chai and Coban spent their very important first 8 weeks of life together with their mum in the safe care of Wales Cat Centre.

Caramel has now been spayed and adopted into her new family, and all the kittens have found their forever homes too!

Read this week’s post here to find out about their happy endings: http://catsprotectionbridgendac.blogspot.com/2024/10/week-8-ready-for-their-next-chapter.html

Please note, these blog posts are not in real time, the kittens are a little bit older at the time of writing. However, we hope you enjoyed following along with their weekly development from day one.

Thank you so much for being with Caramel and her sweet kittens throughout their special 8-week journey from tiny kitten to happy and homed! 💜

Cat of the week: Tate 😀

The handsome Tate has recently been adopted. He is a 5-month-old black and white domestic shorthair male. Tate came into Cats Protection care with some of his siblings. He is a sweet but shy boy, but playful once he gets to know you 🥹🪶🧶

Wanda and Wendy were admitted into our care at Wales Cat Centre at just 6 weeks old as part of a multi-cat household. They were in very poor condition and suffering from severe flu. Both kittens had very sore and inflamed eyes. We were all very concerned that the kittens would not survive due to their age and poor condition. Our vet was also very concerned that it might be too late to save their eyes.
The kittens were started on antibiotics, eye drops and pain relief immediately. They received a lot of TLC from our team, which gave them the best chance of survival. It was touch and go for a couple of weeks but the kittens were little survivors and started to show signs of improvement. Wendy, the tabby kitten made a remarkable recovery and we were able to save both her eyes. Unfortunately, we couldn’t save both of Wanda’s eyes and she recently had surgery to remove her left eye. Wanda has made a good recovery and is adapting well after her surgery.
We have set up a JustGiving appeal to help cover Wanda and Wendy's vet bills. If you would like to help, please donate at https://www.justgiving.com/page/kitten-vetbill-appeal
