How did this even happen??!! I mean roll back to the start of 2020.. I had handed my notice in at a job where I had a stable income, and wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted to do. I had 1 set of clippers and a set of trimmers, cue yeah I could do some clipping. I started work on a couple of yards while I tried to build up some clipping clients.. cue covid! I loose yard work, I have to stop clipping and become a teacher of sorts for my children.. the world slowly starts to open up and I’m now back to square one trying to build a business. I sent a message to asking if I promoted them would they promote me as I used their equipment. Thankfully they said yes! Roll onto 2021 and I get asked to show groom for a Suffolk punch.. and since then I’ve spent my summers working with my best mate and some very special Suffolk punches..and winters clipping horses, this winter has been my busiest clipping season ever, all down to word of mouth! I’ve asked for the last few years for people to nominate me for groom of the year and in June this year I found out that I was a finalist! Never in a million years when I was sat at the table at the awards last night did I ever think that they would say my name..! But they did! And 24 hours after I’m sat on my sofa just looking across the room at my rosette, and the most amazing plaque with my business name on it! Pinch me!! This can’t be real.. I’ve spent the last 4 years listening to the horses, working out what they are happy with me clipping, going with my gut feeling, and being bonkers helps. My customers are more than customers.. they are all friends! And I’m living proof that if you want to do it! You can, but remember patients is key 🔑 and I’m so thankful to for this!.. I’m also very sorry for what appears to be an essay on my life 😂 I think I’m just starting to get over the shock 🤣 the horse in the picture is a complete legend! And he taught me how to listen to horses differently. Sadly he lost his fight this year but I would like to dedicate my groom of the year to Kevin!
