Unfortunately, due to a catastrophic engine failure a few days ago,luckily not loaded and not far from home, my van is now to be scrapped and I am, perhaps permanently, van-less.
I am undecided about buying another but will continue to hire, as I have been doing, for the larger jobs and will still be able to offer the high standard of service and high level of experience as I always have over the past twenty plus years.

We moved a lovely lady into her new home today: An apartment within the beautiful 13th Century “Great Hospital”, nestled in the grounds of Norwich Cathedral… It was a pleasure to help her begin a new chapter in such glorious surroundings.

The Moving Man, having dumped 2 garden sheds, 25 bags of waste, a lawnmower, 6 bags of rubble and a cast iron bench, got wet and moved on… All in a few hours work folks.

This is official notice that I will no longer be delivering to, picking up or moving people to and from anywhere within the M25, Greater London area.
This is due to the increasingly difficult , punitive and expensive driving environment that now exists within that area. The new zoning areas and the reduction of both speed allowances and traffic lanes have led to increased congestion, slower and unpredictable arrival times, seemingly random lane restrictions that change on every visit and the introduction of cameras for multi-detection purposes which have caused me to be fined three times after three visits for offences I was not even previously aware existed such as “delivery in a temporarily restricted residential area”…”Operating a commercial vehicle without pre-applied for permission within a non-commercial zone”… as well as doing 22 mph in a now London-wide 20mph limit.
London is now a hostile environment for commercial vehicles and I will no longer be operating within it.

One of the more unusual moves yesterday: Dog grooming equipment from Wymondham station to a new unit in the town, along platforms, over bridges and up and down wet steps. As always, my team work tirelessly under Ruff conditions, tails wagging, noses wet. They certainly deserved their treat at the end…

Two jobs back to back yesterday, both a challenge but one more so than the other. Amongst everything else we had to take a leather 3 piece suite up 6 flights of stairs with no lift! In the end we pulled the sofa up through the central shaft. Sheer stubbornness and determination not to be beaten won through, as always. We like a challenge...!

The second part of a three day movement of antiques and antiquities to and from the Henley Decor show. Pouring with rain and hard, hard work, including bogged down vehicles but, after 16 hours of loading, driving, unloading and more driving, its completed.
Just need the client to actually get around to paying us now. It seems suddenly she can’t...Or won’t. Not a pleasant lady, but then people with money aren’t in general, especially to what they regard as “the little people”! A £90,000 E-type Jaguar, horses and a 5 bedroomed House and she’s quibbling over a few hours of what she calls, “unproductive time”...Us driving back in other words. Not a happy Moving Man at the moment but Bob and James did their usual sterling work. Good humoured and hard working...Always smiling.
