wipe clean walls. All hair free atm, plus everything has had a good clean ready for the busy week ahead 🐾

APPOINTMENTS

I have now sorted out the dogs who book ahead their grooms with us, up to the end of 2024.

If you are a regular customer and I haven’t done this for you, apologies I’ve missed you, it’s been a challenge to say the least, but please contact me on 07724 047746 and I’ll sort them out.

Those customers who prefer to leave it and book when they need appts, please note that appts are scarce now, and I may need to put your dog on my cancellation list for a future appt, but I will do my best to fit them in.

🐾 Job Opportunity: Volunteer Kennel Supervisors at RATS Animal Rescue

Location: Hare Street, near Buntingford
Organisation: RATS (Rehoming Animal Telephone Service, a registered charity)
Reporting to: Kennel Manager

About Us:
RATS is a dedicated small rescue charity committed to providing care and finding homes for the animals in our case.

Our kennels, situated in the serene surroundings of Hare Street, house up to 12 dogs at any given time. Under the expert management of the kennel manager, who resides on-site, our team ensures the well-being of each dog in our care.

Role Overview:
We are seeking two or three enthusiastic and reliable volunteer kennel supervisors to join our team. This role involves supporting our kennel manager, during the weekdays, and ensuring the dogs receive the care and attention they need.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting with feeding and cleaning the kennels and exercise areas.
• Moving dogs between kennels and the exercise fields.
• Helping volunteers prepare dogs for walks and settling them afterward.
• Providing time, attention, and play sessions in the exercise fields.
• Ensuring health and safety protocols are adhered to.

Working Hours:
Morning Shifts: 8am to 12pm
Afternoon Shifts: Varies with the season
Summer: 5pm to 7pm
Winter: 3.30pm to 5.30pm

Available Shifts:
Tuesday Morning
Friday Morning
Tuesday Afternoon
Wednesday Afternoon
Thursday Afternoon
Friday Afternoon

We are also seeking individuals with the flexibility to cover additional shifts, as needed,due to holidays or illness.

Experience:
Whilst we can offer training, it is important that you have had experience with dogs of all sizes, and ideally, with those that may present with challenging behaviours.

Morning. This week temperatures are rising and I’m appealing to owners with appts with us to be mindful when walking to us. A missed dog walk won’t kill them, but walking in heat may be very harmful.

We have air conditioning, so they’ll be lovely and cool whilst with us.

Early morning and late evening walks are best when it’s cooler.

This shows how important puppy grooming is in helping puppy’s gain confidence with the grooming process.

Milo (El’s puppy) now 8 1/2 months, has had a bath, dry and brush through every week since 8 weeks old. He’s so chilled he could fall asleep and thoroughly enjoyed his little pamper and manicure today. Video in comments 🥰🫶

PLEASE NOTE:

Over the past week we’ve had a high number of dogs cancelling last minute or just not showing up for their groom appts. We know life happens, but I do always send reminders out the day before & will do our best to fill the gaps, but in some cases especially last minute this isn’t possible to which we lose earnings.

This is particularly unfair on other dogs, as I hold a cancellation list with dogs waiting for needed grooms.

My T&C’s, which are given out when you first book with us, state that we require 48 hrs notice to cancel / reschedule appts or a £25 fee will be charged, this is to cover what could be a large loss of earnings when like recently multiple dogs don’t show up.

I hope our loyal customers understand this and thank you all for your value support with our small business.

Beautiful Baloo visited us yesterday.
He’s 3 years old and never been professionally groomed. His pawrents were so worried that he might be nasty, but he was a dream.

This afternoon we had the pleasure of grooming this gorgeous girl for RATS. She wasn’t keen on her from feet and face being done, but we got through and she looks so much better. Her beard had to go shorter due to lots of matts which had to be cut out but I’m sure it’ll be better for her.

One week to go! Are your best friends ready to strut their stuff in our show rings?! 🐕 . We’re on the home straight with preparations for our Spring pedigree and novelty dog shows at the fabulous Bedfordshire Growers near Potton.

Registration starts: 10am
Pedigree Classes: 11:30am
Novelty Classes: 12:30

Rosettes 1st-6th Place. Trophies for Best In Show and Reserve.

🐶 Meet REX. Our very special guest, Rex, who we rescued from the brink of death last year will be visiting us! He and his owner Becky, who nursed him through his darkest days, will be our guests of honour. Rex is a wonderful example of what rescue is all about; see his amazing transformation.

As part of our anniversary celebrations we have stalls and Have-a-Go Agility run by Jack’s Dog Behaviour and Training, so there’ll be lots of fun things for you and your dogs to enjoy while you await your classes.

Our Kennels stall will have details of all the current RATS animals available for adoption and no less than 3 raffles for a choice of doggie hamper to suit small, medium and large dogs.
Our wonderful team of stalwart volunteers will be selling drinks and homemade cakes, sausage rolls and sandwiches.

The weather...is looking perfect! After some tricky weather recently we are excited to see that the temperature looks good and hopefully a dry day too!

Meet Ralph. He’s a beautiful boy who is deaf and blind, but took grooming in his stride today. Unfortunately he was quite a bit matted on his tail and back end which needed cutting out, but it hasn’t affected the beauty of his gorgeous coat.

He’s up for adoption at RATS - Rehoming Animal Telephone Service to find his forever home and will make a wonderful companion to someone.

It was a pleasure giving him a well earned groom today ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
