The street dogs of Romania have horrible lives, everyday they have to fight to survive. Many people are out to kill the dogs as they see them as vermin, they are captured off the streets by 'dog catchers'. They are then taken to 'public shelters' where they are left to starve, these are the lucky ones. The others are poisoned, bludgeoned to death, injected with bleach - the horrifying list goes on

. THIS HAS TO STOP - it it not fair that these dogs have to suffer in this way. I fundraise to bring these dogs to the UK and to get them into homes where they will be part of the family and will be loved and safe, they have already suffered enough, they deserve a family to call their own. For any further info on any of my current Romanian dogs please drop me a message

Hector has got himself a fantastic home with this lovely couple and their gorgeous dog Cookie that they adopted from me last year , they wanted a friend for Cookie as she’s so friendly and playful and when Hector came along they knew he was a perfect fit, and he certainly is, the dogs play all day until they fall asleep, then they wake up and play some more!

Don’t forget folks that the dog show is on 31st August, I’m having a bottle tombola so if anyone has any bottles of drink unopened that they don’t need I would really appreciate you either bringing them on the day or dropping them off to me beforehand.
Thank you.

Angel has started her physio again as she is struggling a bit more to get up off the floor and she’s swinging her right front leg, Ellis her physio said her neck was really tight so she also had some laser therapy.
Her harness is also very threadbare so she needs a new one, so before I order her a new one does anyone have a large Ruffwear flagline harness that they no longer need as they’re quite expensive .

Edit…. A lovely lady has ordered the harness for Angel.

They are in Hertfordshire.

I took the pups Rosie and Jim to the local fete they did really well, the walk there was a bit traumatic for Rosie, everytime a car went past she coward and closed her eyes, but the walk back was so much better , with a bit of encouragement she carried on walking . It was very noisey but they were ok, at one point Jim stretched out and had a snooze.
These pups don’t need to stay together, in fact I think they’ll do better split up, as long as they both have friendly playful dogs to play with then they’ll be fine . Or if they are to stay together I still think they would benefit from another older dog in the home for guidance , 2 scared dogs will feed off each others fears and make the wrong decisions.

I’m going to need quite a few volunteers on the day if anyone is up for it, I need someone to man the tea and cake hut, and if anyone would like to make some cakes that would be great too! I need someone to sign people in for the dog show. I need someone to man the bottle tombola and kids lucky dip, and donations of bottles too would be great, I would also like to have a stall selling doggy items so will need someone to look after that too. Everyone that usually helps me is away that weekend so I’m getting worried now!
If you can help out on the day please get in touch.

Lucky little Wilma has finally got her lucky break and has bagged herself a fantastic home, they are over the moon with her, they have waited 40 years to get another dog when they both retired so she really is a very lucky girl indeed!

Today someone brought me a swallow chick that had fallen out of the nest, after a discussion we decided to put the chick back in the nest as it was fairly accessible with a ladder and there was another chick in there, I got him back in and we watched to see if the parents were coming back to feed them, which they did, but unfortunately I have just had a call to say that one is out again , it is being brought to me, not sure if it’s too hot for them as I was sent a video of them both panting . . I’ll have to feed this little one now, hopefully the other will be ok, but we’ll keep an eye on it.

This is Jim, he is approximately 7 months old , he came to the Uk with his sister Rosie and is settling into the routines of living in a home which they hadn’t experienced before arriving .
He’s quite big, a bit smaller than a basset hound, he may grow a bit more but I wouldn’t expect too much . He’s a bit more confident than his sister but will still need to live with another confident playful dog, he loves to play chase and wrestle , and eat!!!
He’s now appreciating the joys of being stroked and cuddled and will happily come to me now for this .
He loves going on walks but hasn’t quite realised that that’s when he’s supposed to p*e! But he’ll get the idea soon enough.
He needs an experienced home where they have the time to help train and socialise him more.
If you would like to offer Jim a home then please send me a pm with your email so that I can send you a form to fill in.
He is neutered, vaccinated and chipped.
His adoption fee is £450
He is in Hertfordshire.

This is Rosie, she is 7 months old and arrived in the uk a couple of months ago from Romania with her brother Jim.
They were both very scared when they first arrived but have settled down and are getting used to living in a home and socialising with both people and dogs, and loves the other dogs and she loves to run about in the garden with Jim and some of her doggy pals. She is still cautious of new things so she needs to live in a home with at least one other friendly playful dog to give her confidence and guidance.
She’s a very sweet girl that loves a fuss and cuddles.
She’s been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
She needs an experienced home where they have the time to train and socialise her and show her the joys of life as she hasn’t had much of that at the start of her life.
If you think you can offer Rosie what she needs then please send me a pm with your email so that I can send you a form to fill in.
Her adoption fee is £450
She is in Hertfordshire.

Everyone who is thinking of getting dogs should read this because you need to understand this reality:

***I am a 21st century dog.***
-I'm a Malinois.
Overskilled among dogs, I excel in all disciplines and I'm always ready to work: I NEED to work.
But nowadays I get asked to chill on the couch all day everyday.

-I am an Akita Inu.
My ancestors were selected for fighting bears.
Today I get asked to be tolerant and I get scolded for my reactivity when another approaches me.

-I am a Beagle.
When I chase my prey, I raise my voice so the hunters could follow.
Today they put an electric collar on me to shut up, and you make me come back to you - no running - with a snap of your fingers.

-I am a Yorkshire Terrier.
I was a terrifying rat hunter in English mines.
Today they think I can't use my legs and they always hold me in their arms.

-I'm a Labrador Retriever.
My vision of happiness is a dive into a pond to bring back the duck he shot to my master.
Today you forget I'm a walking, running, swimming dog; as a result I'm fat, made to stay indoors, and to babysit.

-I am a Jack Russell.
I can take on a fox, a mean badger, and a rat bigger than me in his den.
Today I get scolded for my character and high energy, and forced to turn into a quiet living room dog.

-I am a Siberian Husky.
Experienced the great, wide open spaces of Northern Europe, where I could drag sleds for long distances at impressive sp*eds.
Today I only have the walls of the house or small garden as a horizon, and the holes I dig in the ground just to release energy and frustration, trying to stay sane.

-I am a border collie
I was made to work hours a day in partnershipwith my master, and I am an unmistakable artist of working with the herd.
Today they are mad at me because, for lack of sheep, I try to check bikes, cars, children in the house and everything in motion.

I am ...
I am a 21st century dog.
I'm pretty, I'm alert, I'm obedient, I stay in a bag...but I'm also an individual who, from centuries of training, needs to express my instincts, and I am *not* suited for the sedentary life you'd want me to lead.
Spending eight hours a day alone in the house or in the garden - with no work and no one to play or run with, seeing you for a short time in the evening when you get home, and only getting a small toilet walk will make me deeply unhappy.
I'll express it by barking all day, turning your yard into a minefield, doing my needs indoors, being unmanageable the rare times I'll find myself outside, and sometimes spending my days sunk, sad, lonely, and depressed, on my pillow.
You may think that I should be happy to be able to enjoy all this comfort while you go to work, but actually I’ll be exhausted and frustrated, because this is absolutely NOT what I'm meant to do, or what I need to be doing.
If you love me, if you've always dreamed of me, if my beautiful blue eyes or my athletic look make you want me, but you can't give me a real dog's life, a life that's really worth living according to my breed, and if you can't offer me the job that my genes are asking, DO NOT buy or adopt me!
If you like the way I look but aren't willing to accept my temperament, gifts, and traits derived from long genetic selection, and you think you can change them with only your good will, then DO NOT BUY OR ADOPT ME.
I’m a dog from the 21st century, yes, but deep inside me, the one who fought, the one who hunted, the one who pulled sleds, the one who guided and protected a herd still lives within.
So think **very** carefully before you choose your dog. And think about getting two, rather than one, so I won't be so very lonely waiting for you all day. Eight or ten hours is just a workday to you, but it's an eternity for me to be alone.

Thank you to everyone that has donated so far I feel blessed and humbled by your generosity, however I’m still a long way from my goal of keeping a roof above my head and of course my dogs, with dogs in every room it would be impossible to sell up, so I have no choice but to stay put and try to raise the cash somehow , so if anyone has a couple of quid to spare, maybe just the price of a cup of coffee , me and the dogs would be really grateful.🙏

I have been running my rescue for over 11 years now from my home, it happened by accident really , I had jus… Hessa Riddett needs your support for Help needed

Little Hector has arrived from Cyprus and is being fostered by the lovely family that found him on the beach abandoned as a small pup! That was a few months ago, he’s still small , he’s roughly 6-7 months old.
His foster mum, who just happens to be one of my fosters anyway , says he’s the nicest pup that she’s ever had, and she’s had quite a few for me!
He’s very well behaved, loves all of her other dogs, loves to play, he’s housetrained already , he is very affectionate towards his humans and strangers, I met him the other day and he was happy to sit on my lap whilst we were chatting .
He’ll stay fairly small, about the size of a big Jack Russell I’m guessing.
Because of his friendly playful demeanour we would like him to live with another playful dog, size doesn’t matter , he’ll play with anyone . He has had a negative Brucella test in Cyprus but some uk vets may ask for another blood test after 3 months of arriving in the uk, so check with your vet before applying .
His adoption fee is £450
He is fully vaccinated and chipped.
He is fostered in Bedfordshire.
Please send me a pm if you would like to offer Hector a home.

Amazing news, Rocket has got herself a fantastic home!!
This lovely lady adopted another dog from me a few years ago, Florence, she and Rocket are very similar not only in appearance but also personality, they get on really well, she also has 2 older boys . Sometimes you just have to wait for the perfect home to come along, and this is definitely it!

15/07/2024

Wilma is really not happy living with so many dogs, she would really like a home of her own with her own humans that she can shower with affection and kisses.
She is such a sweet little dog that will give the right family a lot of love and joy.
She’s approximately 4 years old, she’s neutered, vaccinated and chipped, she loves going for walks, but she doesn’t like cats!!
She can live with another dog if it’s a quiet well behaved dog, she doesn’t like boisterous pups!
Children over 10 only as even though she loves being picked up and cuddled it has to be done slowly and carefully otherwise she gets very scared, I’m pretty sure that she has had some very rough handling in her previous life. In this video she’s telling the other dogs that this is her safe space and to keep away, but they all know that she never backs it up!
She is in Hertfordshire.
Her adoption fee is £350
She is 4 years old.

11/07/2024

A lovely lady dropped off a bag of toys recently which the pups love, Jim in particular loves soft toys.
Both of these pups are still available.

I’m on the scrounge again I’m afraid, with no adoptions recently so no adoption fees I’m really struggling .
I paid £740 for the pups to travel to the uk, they haven’t been adopted and it doesn’t look like they’ll be adopted anytime soon, I then got Jim castrated , both Ruby and Conchita had to have more meds ,and of course Ruby had her eye op last week , so it’s built up to almost £2,500 . The orphaned birds are also costing me a fortune every week, the last 2 weeks have been over £100 at the petshop , I have just paid yesterday £760 for the little pup to fly over from Cyprus and the way that adoptions are going at the moment I guess he won’t get adopted too soon either and obviously the adoption fee won’t cover his costs anyway . So here I am again with the begging bowl out, if anyone can spare just a few quid I would be really grateful and relieved, I really don’t want my vets bill to get out of hand as I have managed to keep on top of it recently but it’s creeping up .
Thanks again for your continued support.

Another orphan, this is a little sparrow , and the swift is doing well too. All of these babies including the jackdaws and moorhens are costing me £50 a week to feed!

Ruby had her op this morning to have her eye removed, everything went well, she came home this evening and was welcomed home with a good sniffing from the others and of course Conchita kept a close eye on her best friend. ( no pun intended!)

Unfortunately the tiny bird died 😔
But the swift is doing well.

I’m getting more messages about birds than dogs at the moment! I know have 2 blackbird fledglings and a swift that has fallen out of its nest. I have no doubt that these 3 will thrive.
