One of the local charities that we work alongside is Bluecross in Burford, who rescue and re-home horses and ponies.

Our very own HNVG Equine Vet Sally Hodgson visits Bluecross every week, so we thought, wouldn’t it be nice to highlight some of the wonderful Bluecross ponies that need new homes!

We will be sharing ponies to our stories every week, as well as updates on what Sally is getting up to on her visits.

On these weekly visits, Sally checks over new arrivals and those about to go to new homes, vaccinates, draws passports and inserts microchips.

Sally says “The best thing about working with the Blue Cross is how completely focused the whole Equine team is on ensuring the long-term good welfare of the animals for which they take responsibility. Each horse is treated as an individual – some arrive having been mistreated, others without ever having been handled before. The Equine team work with each horse at its own pace to train them to be polite, well-mannered and easy to care for, and no horse is pushed to do more than it is ready for.

The behaviour training techniques the team and I use are very gentle and very effective – working alongside them it is amazing how quickly an anxious horse can relax and allow me to take a blood sample, give an injection or examine a leg or foot.
Rescued horses can then be re-homed with confidence, knowing that they have their own ‘toolkit’ of good behaviour for their re-homer, farrier and vet.”

🎉 Happy New Year everyone 🎉

New years day can only mean one thing! Our annual post of the rehomed pets wall from 2024 in the small animal team 🐶🐱🐰

This year has been record breaking with at least 1,387 pets helped and at least 970 rehomed 💙💙

We want to thank you all for your support again this year! Everyone who rehomed, liked, shared, donated, purchased from the amazon wishlist, fostered and volunteered 💙 it has made those numbers of pets helped and homed possible!

If you did rehome this year extra points if you can spot your pet on the wall 🔭👓 they are nearly all on there!

As all always we love seeing pictures of your rehomed pets from any year in the comments to this post so go for your life!

🏡🐾🥰🐕Magnificent Murphy was fostered over the Christmas by one of our fabulous kennels volunteers. Giving him a much needed break over the festive period. This gentle giant had been in the stray kennels since the start of October and then we could give him a space at the end of October. He had then been waiting 2 months for a new home.
He settled in super well as you can see and his fosterers fell in love with him so much that today he became a permanent member of their family!!
It really will be a new beginning in 2025 for Murphy with a new family and a new home 🏡🐾🥰🐩

💕🌹 Look who came to visit in the run up to Christmas, Rosie. 🌹💕

You may remember in August we asked for your support with help with food and puppy related items when we had an emergency intake of Bracco Italiano cross puppies. You all stepped up and we were overwhelmed with your response. ✨🥰

Rosie, is settling in great and has come on in leaps and bounds. We are so pleased she can experience Christmas in the comfort of a new home. Just look at her transformation 👀🎄🎅

You can imagine our surprise when in the ✨ same week ✨ we received a visit from one of her puppies - Harley who was Widget - look at how big she is now! 💕
