A big moment for Reba today, she had the confidence to take the lead in the walk, be in front of me and also stop and explore her environment. This may seem like a normal thing to happen on a dog walk, but Reba usually sticks to being behind me, and takes a lot of gentle encouragement to follow (video at the end); she is an imported a rescue dog and is very nervous around new people. We have taken things slowly, building a relationship where she learns to trust me, it is paying off! Go Reba 🌟🐶
Is it weird to be proud of a dog? 🤷🏼♀️ Well I am. When I started walking Digger he was an excellent trained dog, recall was amazing, he’d run around but never too far ahead without stopping to check back in where you were. However, he did pull heavily on the lead; now he pulls much less and will more frequently walk by my side when on the lead. I am not a dog trainer, and don’t claim to be, but having been brought up around dogs, having one myself and now walking dogs as a profession, you pick up a thing or two. With Digger I simply don’t walk all the time the lead feels taut, I stop and tell him to wait, once the lead feels slack I tell him ‘good boy, walk on’. It appears to be working, and I feel super proud of him! 🧡 He’s also becoming for socialable with other dogs and is starting to enjoy playing with them, where before he just kept to himself! Go Digger 🐶⭐️
Lovely walk up wolstonbury hill today. Guess who made it to the top first? I’ll give you a clue… it wasn’t me 😆
We won’t let a little rain, hail or thunder stop us 🌧️⛈️🚶♀️🦮
