What is hug a dog and why do we do it?
Hug a dog is something we do at 3:30pm - 4:00pm every single day. 4:00pm is a very exciting time for our dogs as that’s when they start to go home. This is a great opportunity for those dogs that need to decompress and put them in a better state of mind to cope with a potentially overwhelming part of the day.
Doing hug a dog right before home time gives the team and the dogs some time to relax, enjoy their time together and have a cuddle after a very busy day!
This half hour period is even more beneficial to any dogs that get a little too excited or overwhelmed by home time as we use that half an hour to do some T-Touch.
T-Touch is a calming method we use which helps relax dogs. This, plus listening to calming music helps to keep the dogs relaxed before we say goodbye to them at the end of the day (plus it’s a really lovely time for us too!)
We would love to see you hugging your dogs! Show us in the comments below!🐶

Welcome to our Wednesday Afternoon live! Can you spot your dog? 😁🐾
🐕 🎅🏼 Midweek Mini Mutts 🐕 🎅🏼
It’s only 21 sleeps until your puppy’s first Christmas!
It’s such an exciting time! With lots of decorations, yummy food, presents, parties and chocolate for breakfast- Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year!
With all the fun and festivities we must remember to keep our puppies safe. There are lots of new things around your house to explore and these can pose a risk to a young, investigative puppies.
Some Christmas food that can pose a risk to our puppies include:
Chocolate
Mince pies
Christmas pudding
Cooked bones
Onion (commonly found in gravy and stuffing)
Alcohol
Sweets
Macadamia nuts
As well as some foods being a hazard, also remember there are other risks around during our festivities. Christmas decorations, wrapping paper, Cellotape, artificial snow, loose cables and unknown presents all pose a risk.
Also remember to tell any visitors to your home to be mindful about leaving doors open.
Don’t forget your puppy’s Christmas present too - steer clear rawhide treats- it’s full of nasties and is a big choking hazard!).
Keep your puppy safe and keep them out of trouble. Don’t forget- Santa paws is watching, help them stay off of the naughty list!
