We are appealing for witnesses, CCTV and doorbell footage after distraction burglaries in Padiham in which two men tricked their way into homes by falsely claiming to be police officers.

We were called at around 11pm last night. The first victim, a man in his 40s, was approached on Whitegate Close by the men, who were wearing body armour and what appeared to be police hats. They were also carrying batons, handcuffs and a radio.

The victim was placed in handcuffs and was told he was being arrested in relation to a collision earlier in the day. They then stole his bike, claiming it was being seized for evidence.
