I must admit I'm a little bit in love with 9 year old Border Terrier/Patterdale Cross Finley 😍 It had been two years since his previous visit to the groomer, and as you can imagine he was a bit wary of pretty much everything! We took our time and little by little Finley started to trust me, allowing me to work on him and complete his groom. We even managed to get between those grinch toes which is nothing short of a miracle given where we started! I'm so proud of you today Finley, you've been an absolute trooper. See you next time fella and good luck at the dentist next month xx 🤞🐶🛁✂️😘

Winston the 12 month old Show Cocker Spaniel visited today for his first groom at Hunter Dog Grooming! He coped brilliantly given his very young age and has the most amazing coat ..... I think Inspector Hercule Poirot himself would be jealous of that moustache too! Well done today Winston, see you again next time buddy, enjoy your well earned snooze xx 🐶🛁✂️😁

My favourite Miniature Schnauzer called in earlier for her regular groom and it was genuinely heartwarming to see her on top form today! 🥰 I'm pretty sure she knows what a fantastic job she's doing at growing her Schnauzer beard, so we thought we'd do a little progress check! Three photos / three different months! Definitely looking good girl, see you next month sweetheart xx 🐶🛁✂️😘

Teddy the Pomeranian popped by again today for a bath and de-shed. Teddy is still very wary of the whole grooming process, so slow and steady with this little fella whilst we continue to build trust 🤝 The occasional tripe stick is definitely helping us on our journey too! A bit of a restyle today for 9 month old Willow the Cockerpoo! Given her youth, Willow's behaviour on the grooming table is gold standard 🥇She was introduced to our grooming salon at a very young age which helped desensitise her, and this, together with her mummy's 'at home' brushing skills, makes for a very well adjusted pooch! Well done today Willow, see you next time sweetheart xx 🐶🛁✂️❤️

Today was 10 year old Stanley the Labrador's first visit to Hunter Dog Grooming for a bath and de-shed. Following on from previous grooms Stanley is highly sensitive to the dryer, and after a short session wearing one of our happy hoodies to dull the sound and work on desensitisation, we finished towel drying him before removing any remaining excess undercoat. Safe to say Stanley's anxiety reduced and he relaxed into his groom before leaving feeling lighter and fresher! Well done today big man, see you next time fella xx 🐶🛁🥰

12 year old Max the Shih-Tzu is our first furry friend this week and his mummy fancied a bit of a restyle for him into a Teddy Trim. Max absolutely rocks the look and skipped home for a well deserved snooze ..... he said its very tiring being this cute!🧸😆 Well done Max, see you next time buddy xx 🐶🛁✂️

So very pleased to have found Hunter Dog Grooming.
Immediately felt at ease, premises spotlessly clean and modern. I very quickly felt able to leave my dog in safe and caring hands after Colette took the time to get to know him and his needs.
He was overdue for grooming and was a bit sorry for himself, 10 minutes after leaving the salon he was running round the garden like a puppy!
Can highly recommend Hunter Dog Grooming, excellent all round.

It was Cassie's first visit to Hunter Dog Grooming today and she absolutely smashed her bath and de-shed! ⭐️ A beautiful temperament and such a pleasure to groom .... what a wonderful way to finish the week! Well done today Cassie, look forward to seeing you again next time special girl xx 🐶🛁😍

12 year old Jazz was first through the door today for his regular groom. He manages a number of health conditions including the discs in his lower back. Careful handling is essential to ensure he remains comfortable throughout his groom. We also rolled out our salon yoga mat onto the grooming table today to help cushion his joints. Today was 8 month old Teddy the Cocker Spaniel's first ever groom and his humans have opted to have him handstripped. He coped really well with his first session today and will revisit again soon as his adult coat continues to develop. Grinch toes be gone! 🎩 🪄 🐶😍

Tia manages some health issues which means we need to exercise careful handling to ensure we meet her welfare needs whilst in our grooming salon. Her mummy's priority is ensuring Tia is comfortable and that her coat is easily managed. This little lady couldn't have behaved better today, such a sweet soul. Magnificent Merlin the 9 year old Goldendoodle visited Hunter Dog Grooming for the first time today. His mummy explained he's not a fan of the bath and as we were taking his coat short, we agreed to bath him after his trim so that we could minimise his time in there. Fortunately Merlin's achilles heel is the sight of a ball and with some gentle persuasion he agreed to let us give him a soothing bath and gentle blow dry too! 🥎😁 A real gentle giant with perfect manners, such a good boy who is clearly very loved by his humans. Well done today Merlin, see you next time big man xx 🐶🛁✂️🥰

Neville the Cavapoo has an extremely important role to play on Friday at his mummy and daddy's wedding, and our job today was to help him look the part! Clive the 13 year old Patterdale dropped by for a groom today. Not a fan of being either bathed or dried we chose to trim Clive's fur prior to his bath and then towel dried him. Clive was much happier and enjoyed a tripe stick whilst he finished drying and waiting for his daddy on our salon doormat. Good lad Clive, see you next time fella xx 🐶🛁✂️

Cooper the 2 year old Cocker Spaniel called in earlier for his regular groom. He had lots of tales to tell, even sharing a few with our local parcel delivery man when he dropped off our salon supplies! Well done today Cooper, see you next time big man xx 🐶🛁✂️😊

It was Luna the Pomsky's regular bath and de-shed today and this lovely lady was definitely feeling upbeat on this warm summer day! Her mummy and daddy choose to have a regular grooming schedule, and Luna's well-maintained double coat helps her to insulate from the heat, sun exposure, and biting insects! Today was Alfie the two year old Chihuahua's first groom at Hunter Dog Grooming and he totally smashed it! 👊
After a cleansing bath we chose to use our gentle stand dryer on this tiny tot, followed by a good de-shed and scissor tidy. Just the sweetest nature and a real cutie. Well done today Alfie, see you next time little fella xx 🐶🛁✂️😁

Generally, senior years are considered to be the last 25% of a dogs predicted lifespan, and grooming is just as important for senior dogs as it is for younger dogs!

Regular grooming can help keep senior dogs clean, comfortable, and healthy, and can also help identify potential health issues such as skin infections, allergies, injuries and skin diseases.

Matted hair and skin infections are more common in senior dogs, but can be prevented with regular grooming. A good bath can really help to relieve itchy areas!

Did you know that professional groomers can also help to detect potential health issues that may otherwise go unnoticed, such as growths, lumps, arthritis, joint issues, and dementia?

Beautiful Bella the Chow Chow visited this morning for her regular bath and de-shed and is just the best girl. She left feeling and looking much lighter and fresher, and we even managed to remove multiple sticky Cleaver seeds which seem to be literally everywhere at the moment! It was this little reprobate's scheduled groom today, and being the resident Hunter Dog Grooming Jackapoo he knows exactly where we stash the complimentary treats! Not only that, he definitely knows how to 'negotiate' with said treats and his behaviour during certain elements of his groom 🙈🐶🛁✂️😂 Love him to bits xx 💙

Today saw us welcome another new doggy customer, Ozzy the 2 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. His mummy had warned me that Ozzy likes to be quite vocal however, today he behaved perfectly on the grooming table and I think I've made a friend for life! Lots of hugs and kisses, just the best boy! Well done Ozzy, see you next time little fella xx 🐶🛁✂️🥰

Today we had the privilege of meeting Coco the 4 year old Sprockerpoo! Nothing really phased her, not even being made to look like a unicorn during her bath! 🦄 She behaved perfectly and is such a sweet girl and a real credit to her humans. I was lucky enough to meet 2 year old Luna the Cocker Spaniel today who was an absolute pleasure to groom, handling the whole process like a pro🥇Her favourite part of todays groom was definitely her bath, followed closely by going for a sneaky comfort break and sniff around in the field next to our salon, then it was our complimentary treats for being such a superstar! 🌟 Well done today Luna, see you next time beautiful girl xx 🐶🛁✂️

It was my mate Colin the Cavapoo's second visit to Hunter Dog Grooming today! Colin's mummy explained before his first groom with us that he can be a bit anxious, so it was extremely heartwarming to watch him pull his mummy into our salon earlier ready for his next groom! 🥰 Today we elected to hand scissor Colin's front legs (not his favourite part of his groom!), which minimised his anxiety and kept him more comfortable.
