Our lovely three legged shy boy Milo β€οΈ #hedgehogrescue
Pleased to say the lovely boy Milo who came to us from Boβness with a front leg missing is doing really well. The vet was very pleased with him and was happy with how Milo can walk so he will be with us now until spring and then we will find a lovely secure garden for him π₯°
Thank you so much to vet David Gordon at St Clair Vet Group for seeing Milo yesterday ππ¦
Sadly lost two little hedgehogs within 24 hours due to hypothermia π’ This little one was from Kinross and despite trying to warm him up over the last 15 hours he passed away shortly after this video was taken. Their little bodies just canβt take the cold and they go into organ failure. They donβt stand a chance as they have been born too late due to our mild autumn π

Hamish and Spencer
Some of you may remember Hamish and Spencer ππ¦π¦ Hamish came to us very poorly with internal parasites and infected gums and rotting teeth. He had most of his teeth removed once he recovered from the parasites so was unable to be released back into the wild. Kenneth Plews offered his garden as a secure garden and it was perfect, a real hedgehog friendly wild garden. Hamish settled in great. Spencer was collapsed at the side of a road in Dalgety Bay with cars driving around him π’ He was critically ill with internal parasites on arrival and was so thin and was literally at deaths door. We managed to stabilise him and got control of the parasites but being an elderly boy his teeth were rotten and his gums very badly infected so he too had to have his teeth removed. I asked Kenny if he would like another garden lodger and we agreed to give Spencer a try. Pleased to say they both got on great so Spencer stayed in Kennyβs garden. Both hedgehogs were monitored closely to watch for stress or fighting but they get on lovely. This is a video from a week ago of them both eating together. Two boys who are enjoying their retirement with each other for company π Warms my heart so much π₯°. Secure gardens do not suit all hedgehogs which is why we monitor them closely. They could never go back to the wild so the other option was to put them to sleep but we are pro life wherever possible as long as the hedgehog isnβt in distress or pain. Thank you so much Kenny for looking after these boys so well π€©ππ¦π¦
