Yesterday was a mixed bag of emotions as it was my last day of work before I go on maternity leave. I've had some lovely cards and gifts from my amazing customers - thank you so much πŸ₯°

I have grown very fond of your dogs and will miss them terribly. I would like to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to get to know them and also help out with their training - it has been an absolute pleasure.

I will keep you updated on when Hollydogs re-opens, should you wish to use me again in the future.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your loyal custom and for helping to make Hollydogs the success it has been πŸ™‚πŸΆ

Willow, Bella and Donut all started out with me as puppy home visits when they were tiny. It's been great getting to know them all and partake in their training, and what's amazing is that they are now going on group walks together with me.

I carefully select dogs for group walks, taking into account size, age and temperament to ensure that everyone enjoys the walk. These three go well together and have a great time.

Here is a little video of a recall. I like to know that I am able to recall all dogs to me in one go when required, for obvious safety reasons. It's super cute watching these girls run towards me 😍

This little cutie pie is Bruno.

He is a rescue from Bosnia, currently in Foster care and looking for his forever home.

He is a bit of a complicated little soul and doesn't trust new people easily, but once you are part of his gang you are a member for life.

I first met Bruno a few months ago and he was very worried by me at first, which he showed by barking, lunging and growling at me. He was simply scared and this was the best way he knew to try and keep me away.

Through lots of time and patience, never pressuring him but listening to his subtle signs that he was not comfortable and responding accordingly, we have now got to the stage where I can enter his home without any of his humans being around, put a lead on him and take him out for a walk. This might not seem like a lot, but it is a big achievement for us.

Bruno is a lovely chap, loves a game of ball and responds well to training (he is a big foodie too!). I really hope he is able to find his forever home soon, with humans who understand his needs.

Jasper is taking advantage of my twice a day puppy visits to give his Dad a well-deserved break. Of course I'm happy to oblige 😁

Time to celebrate πŸŽ‰ πŸ₯‚

Three weeks ago I went down to London for a 2-day assessment (practical and theoretical) to become a qualified dog trainer with IMDT. This afternoon I received the email I had been waiting for - I passed with flying colours - woohoo!

Now I will become an IMDT registered dog trainer which is great news for Hollydogs Pet Services and Through the Dog's Eyes

I am committed to furthering my knowledge and ensuring that I am providing the best possible services for my clients. That is why I believe in continued professional development. Behavioural science is always evolving and it is important that we keep up-to-date with it.

A big thank you to everyone who has supported me in this journey, especially my 4-legged clients who are always teaching me new things πŸ˜‰

🐢SHE'S A BONA FIDE ACCREDITED DOG TRAINER! 🐢

πŸ₯‚Massive congratulations to Sarah who found out today that she has passed her IMDT assessments and has qualified as a Dog Trainer! The course consisted of theoretical, practical and written assessments designed to showcase the students knowledge and experience - it was tough!πŸ₯‚

Sarah works hard to ensure that she keeps up to date in this very fast moving area of science, it certainly keeps people on their toes as methods and knowledge change so quickly.

Through The Dog's Eyes are very happy to now have a qualified Dog Trainer πŸ’œ

A year ago this week saw the launch of Hollydogs Pet Services, something that had been in the pipeline for many years. I am very proud of how the first year has gone and would like to thank everyone who has helped to make Hollydogs a success.

Happy Hollyversary

As a thank you, my regular customers this week received a card, a personalised mug and some yummy treats for their furry friends.

Thank you once again to all of my wonderful customers. I have loved getting to know your dogs, who are all so different, and look forward to many more adventures with them.

And the prize for the muckiest dog today goes to Bailey!

If there's a mucky bog somewhere nearby then Bailey is guaranteed to find it. Luckily, I always take a portable shower with me on walks to wash off the muck before your 4-legged friends go home. In this instance though, Bailey was quite happy to wash himself in a nearby stream 😁

This week Hollydogs welcomed a newcomer to the clan. Say hello to Atlas. This gorgeous girl is joining me for solo walks and we are going to be doing lots of work on recall.

Due to the hot weather on Tuesday and Wednesday we swapped the walk for a garden visit instead. Your dog's welfare is my top priority and in the hot weather I make sure that they are able to keep nice and cool. Today we were finally able to venture out on our first walk together. Here's to many more to come 🐢

Welcome to the Hollydogs gang Monti! 🐢

This cute little bundle of fluff will be joining me for solo walks. As he is still too young to walk far we will be going on a short walking adventure together and spending the rest of the hour doing fun stuff in his home and garden, such as play, training, socialisation and confidence-building exercises.

Monti had his free get to know you walk yesterday and I have to say he was an absolute delight. I am looking forward to visiting him and getting better acquainted with him as time goes on 😁

It's been a busy few weeks for the Hollydogs puppies.

My puppy visits are not just about toileting and feeding. Whilst I am with the puppies we work on essential training and socialisation to help the puppies develop into the good citizens that we want them to be.

Little Donut has been busy exploring lots of different textures, objects and unsteady surfaces. She has been listening to "scary" sounds like fireworks on a low volume to get her used to the sounds. She is developing in confidence and has learnt that things that move are not necessarily things she needs to be worried about. We have also been working on her response to her name. A puppy's name should be a wonderful sound as it predicts that something amazing is about to happen. It is worth spending lots of time building value into their name so that they want to respond to it straight away.

Willow and Bella, who are a bit older, have been coming on in leaps and bounds with their training. Amongst other things, we have been working on leaving things when asked, coming when called, stay and middle.

I think they are doing a fab job. What do you think? 🐢🐢🐢

It may be Good Friday, but the Hollydogs have been out in force.

Chewie says "how's this for an emergency stop?"

Pretty blooming good Chewie!

Having a dog who will stop on cue can be extremely useful in a variety of situations and is well worth taking the time to teach as one day it could keep your dog safe from harm.

If you need help with training your dog then drop us a message and we will be very happy to talk to you about what we can provide to help get you on the right track.

This morning Lulu and Badger had a lovely walk with plenty of sniffs, a bit of ball play and some yummy sausage treats.

My dog-walking and petcare services cover Burntwood and the surrounding areas. Hollydogs services include the following:

*A free get-to-know-you walk
*Training on each walk - as a dog trainer and student with the IMDT I will work on basic training such as walking nicely on the lead, recall, tricks etc. on the walk
*Yummy treats
*Toys during the walk, if they like to play with toys
*Photos of your dog enjoying their walk, which are sent to you so you can see what they have been up to
*A rub down with a towel if they are muddy (and a rinse down with some water if they are happy with it)
*Help settling when they get home, if you are out
*An experienced dog handler - I have several years experience as a volunteer at rescue centres including the RSPCA and Blue Cross so am not phased by boisterous or strong dogs

You may be nervous about hiring someone to walk your dog. You may have seen some dog-walkers about who allow big groups of dogs to run riot with very little control over what is happening. Hollydogs Pet Services do NOT operate like this.

I am passionate about ensuring that all dogs enjoy their walks, are kept under good control and behave like good citizens. In order to achieve this I:

*Restrict walks to an absolute maximum of 4 dogs, and in some cases it may be less than this
*Ensure that the combination of dogs walked together are suitable (e.g. grouping dogs together taking into account their size, age and temperament)
*Only allow your dog offlead with your permission, if it is safe to do so AND I am confident that they will recall back to me swiftly
*Do not allow the dogs in my care to cause a nuisance to members of the public or their dogs
*Treat your dog in the same way that I treat my own. Their safety and welfare are my top priority

I have slots available for walks so if you are looking for someone trustworthy to take your dog out for an adventure then feel free to get in touch.

Lovely walk this morning with Chewie and Holly. Here are a couple of photos of us working on attention with passing distractions (e.g. people and other dogs). A few other pictures, too, of them posing and practising their "wait" cue as well as "paws up".

Training is included as part of your dog's walk as I am a firm believer that it is important to teach and maintain basic lifeskills such as recall, walking on a loose lead and keeping focus around distractions.

If you would like a walk for your dog then get in touch. I offer the first "get to know you" walk free of charge and you will always receive photos or videos of your pooch enjoying their walk.

Great to see the lovely Chewie again today. He was certainly happy to see me and Holly for his first group walk after Christmas.

The dogs found this big snowball that was left so we took the opportunity for a nice photo.
