The East Stafforshire Sports Council The East Staffordshire Sports Council serves to give grants of up to £1000 to Sporting Clubs and Organisations within East Staffordshire - upon application

The East Staffs Sports Council overseas and authorises Sports Grants on behalf of East Staffs Borough Council to sports clubs and organisations within East Staffordshire. So long as the financial support that is requested falls within the remit that the Sports Council are able to fund, the Council will meet and consider all applications. There is a strict application form and proceedure that must

be followed, but the Sports Council try to make the process as user friendly as possible! Application forms can be downloaded or obtained from the Secretary.

The Sports Council has recently contributed to new youth football goals (Rocester Juniors FC), a new boat (Burton Leander) and mower (Barton Bowls Club)

I would have asked the question: when you were in negotiations to buy the offices, why didn’t one of the Councillors or Officers involved ask the question: Where are you moving the staff to? A bit like you might ask the house owners you are buying off?

And from reading this, they are now going to build a museum. Whilst it’s the right intention, questions should be asked. What’s the Return on Investment? What’s the predicted visitor numbers? Will the pub/events area (which have probably subsidised the museum bit,) be part of the planned move? How much will it cost to run? What’s the Options Appraisal on this? What are the risks? I have the sinking feeling that this will cost ratepayers until the museum eventually closes.

In the past we have helped fund the scoreboard too. One of the most picturesque grounds in East Staffordshire. We still have funds available

East Staffs Sports Council recently supported Uttoxeter Bulls Basketball Club with funding for Junior portable Hoops to enable a new Junior session to take place. Vice Chair Sue went along to the Bulls celebration evening to see the new session in action and present an award as part of the evening.
