WATERSIDE BREAD&BUTTER X LOTUS WORK EXPERIENCE 🍞🌺

We are extremely proud to showcase our first Lotus Work Experience group! Thanks to the incredible team down at Waterside Community Centre in Stapenhill, our young people have been given the opportunity to gain vital work place skills whilst supporting an amazing cause - ‘The Bread and Butter Thing’

At the end of this post are posters informing you of what ‘The Bread and Butter Thing’ is, the work they do and all contact info needed, if you wish to access this fantastic scheme.

Our young adults demonstrated incredible initiative, impeccable manners and a huge amount of effort to pack up and distribute 85 food parcels to their local community today!

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader within our Burton Branch.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Team Leader to join our vibrant, dynamic Day Ops team. As a Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in supporting and managing the day to day operations of our service, ensuring high standards of care and support for our service users. This is a great opportunity to use your leadership skills and contribute to the success of a busy, rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

* To lead, manage and inspire a team of support workers within a day care setting.
* To use initiative when creative thinking to ensure the effective delivery of services.
* To provide guidance, support and coaching to team members to promote a positive and productive working environment.
* To develop the maintain strong working relationships with our service users, their family and external agencies.
* To ensure that all day to day tasks are completed efficiently, following health and safety protocols.
* To undertake additional training and professional development courses as required.
* To help develop and implement new strategies to continuously improve service delivery.

Skills & Experience

* Proven experience of working in a leadership role within a busy environment.
* NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is essential.
* Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to motivate and lead a team with confidence and empathy.
* Creative thinker with the ability to problem solve and adapt to changing needs.
* A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

Requirements

* Applicants must be over the age of 25
* Applicants must have a full UK driving license and confident driving skills are essential for this role.

Another week at Lotus’ Burton centre has come to an end,leaving only smiles and great memories behind!

This week we’ve visited RAF Cosford, Matlock and the National Arboretum to enhance our learning and history,making it fun in the process of course😁

We’ve also worked more on our life skills such as cooking, baking, shopping,cleaning and much more! Not forgetting our exciting trips out to rebound,oxygen, wildlife parks, nature trails and even library’s📚

We hope you make time for some rest this weekend after such an exciting week, see you Monday🪷

"The greatest wealth is health".

This week we have been focusing on our health. We have taken part in lots of fitness activities. Tried some new exotic fruits and created our very own healthy food recipe books. We have also been bowling, visited a farm, went to shobnal bikes, did a hat scavenger hunt for national hat day and took part in our weekly dance class!
Another fab week ticked off.

Our first full week into the New Year and we have already made so many memories 🌺

We were lucky enough to experience a class at the new Stacey Jones Dance Studio, visits to Woolaton Hall, Church Farm, Aqua Aerobics, Rebound and different restaurants for our lunch!

We have also practised some essential life skills - shopping for ingredients, cooking our own lunch, making drinks and tidying up

We’ve had lots of frosty mornings this week, but we certainly haven’t let that stop us from getting out and enjoying our new year activities.
We started off the week by learning some new dance moves with Stacey, followed by shobnal bikes, adventure golf, cooking, basketball, arts and crafts and some lovely meals out.
We have got lots of exciting things planned for this year so stay tuned.

And that’s a wrap! What a truly amazing year we’ve had at the Swad Centre. We’ve welcomed lots of new faces over the year and hope to welcome lots more in 2025. The year has been full of fun, laughter and special moments.

We ended the year in true lotus fashion with a big party with lots of dancing and games. But for now, let’s all enjoy the Christmas holidays with our loved ones and get ready to welcome everyone back next year!

Eyes down Stapenhill!

Who likes a game of bingo?

Our very good friends from Lotus Enrichment Centre are hosting a community bingo tomorrow evening and would love to see you all there!

With food, drinks, games and of course a festive raffle what else could you ask for on a wintry evening?

Doors open at 17:00 ready for eyes down at 17:30 so come early and make sure you grab one of Ambers festive baked pastries and a cuppa.

❤️🎄 CHRISTMAS BINGO REMINDER 🎄❤️

We are so excited that our Christmas Bingo evening will be happening this coming Thursday, at Waterside Community Centre! This event is open to the wider public so, if you’ve ever wanted to get in on the Lotus cheer, bring your friends & family down for a fantastic festive evening!

Not only do we have some unmissable bingo prizes on offer but we also have refreshments, a raffle, ‘bottle bag grab’ stall, small gift stall, ‘pin the nose on the snowman’ and of course, a photobooth 📸

Today, Burton and Swad hubs have joined together for one big festive outreach trip🎄

We have ridden on the Hogwarts Express, been foraging for mandrakes, explored Diagon Alley and finished off our day with a cold butter beer 🍺
