Today's "local" adventure ...
A snippet of Finlay doing his thing. About his 4th or 5th search. Inexperienced but ... just watch this boy work ... 🤩
And then there's Finlay.
Very young. Very inexperienced. Very enthusiastic. Very strong.
First time working in this type of environment. First time searching "vehicles".
Excellent work. No patterning. No tap, tap, tap. Just independent searching. The dog taking the lead. Filament Detection Dog in the making.
Well done for keeping upright, Diane 😁.
Just go with your dog ...
Well done "Rubber-Legs" Rusty 😊
Today's venue.
Garden starting to come to life. Wisteria filling the space with the most beautiful odour.
Where's "smellivision" when you need it?
Teddy searching for his target odour in grass as tall as him 😁
And ... not forgotten ... Dream came out to have a "play" with vehicles.
Beautiful work ... as always 🤩
Apparently, "Poodle People" are the same the world over 🤣.
Nicky Locke has found a couple of new friends from the Netherlands ... who speak fluent Poodle 🤣
Rugby 🏉 practice today at Seaview Dog Meadow. Toning up in readiness for a full weekend of Scent Detecting 😁 #seaviewdogmeadow
Norfolk "football".
Playing an "away" game at #seaviewdogmeadow.
Saved the greenhouse glass at home 🙄
Frodo and Suzanne working hard on just one small part of their Buried Search Assessment.
Lashing it down 🌧 for today's "Original Great Outdoors" spectacular.
Scent Detecting happens in ALL weathers conditions!
A brief "snapshot" of over 1.5hrs of solid work. Look at the concentration!
Fynn did get lots to drink and lots of sweeties and he was SUCCESSFUL ... on more than one occasion!
Truffles are pretty sparse in these woods. They are there but the dogs have to work hard to find them.
Fabulous to watch 🙂
I love this video for so many reasons.
1. Chewee - back to work after a tough year.
2. Handler - lets Chewee work things out for himself. No "nagging", "pointing", "directing". Petra just waits for him to sort things out. She lets him take charge of the search.
3. Odour movement - Watching your dog - allowing him to decide which direction he's going to move in - lets you "see" how the odour is moving. This was a breezy day, the wider area is enclosed by 10-12 foot high walls, lots of undergrowth, a tight corner. The search area is "complex".
4. Different dog = Different style of working - this could mean age, breed, health status, size, experience ... and so on. Chewee is a "slow" worker. He'll always be a "slow" worker. There's nothing to be gained by trying to "speed' him up (if that were possible). He is who he is ... he works slowly, carefully and thoughtfully and he FINDS the odour source. He's SUCCESSFUL.
5. Passive Indication - Clear. Determined. With duration.
Well done Chewee and Petra 👍
And to finish off their day, Lottie and Janet had some fun by revisiting Water Searches ... it's probably a year or two since they last played this game.
Easy-Peasy ... when you've learnt something well ... you don't forget 😇.
Lovely to see.
Look who's PASSED his Multiple Rooms Assessment today ...
Many CONGRATULATIONS going to Rusty and Diane 👏.
Just one video to illustrate what Rusty and his Handler have achieved 😁.
Teddy and Lee - practicing their Buried searches.
Lovely work 🤗
