Day 30: share what you love about doing 30Days Wild. We love being outside on dog walks: seeing something new, being fascinated by a different plant, discovering a special insect, hearing a new bird call, there’s always a treasure that nature gives you every time you step outside and we have loved documenting it every day of June 2024 with 30dayswild

Day 29: share what you love about being in nature - we love the smells of the fragrant blossom, at the moment the Small-leaved lime trees smell gorgeous near our home. The digital world is a great way for us to see & hear wildlife but it can’t recreate the smells, you need to actually be there to sense that. Obviously the dog knows that & that’s why we walk not only for the exercise but also for the smells 👃🐽🐕

Day 28: what smells do you like in nature? I love the smell of Pineapple W**d: just squeeze the flower head and smell the lovely fragrance. The dog of course loves loads of smells, I don’t think he’s bothered by Pineapple w**d though!

Day 24: Do Tai Chi in nature. Tai chi is a practice that involves a series of slow gentle movements and physical postures, a meditative state of mind, and controlled breathing. Unfortunately the dog is not ready for Tai Chi yet as he is only just 2 years old & full of bounce on our walks, but maybe in his quieter moments we could try a few moves!

Day 20: help reduce plastic reaching our seas. DYK that 12 million tonnes of plastic enters our seas every year? And that 80% of that comes from our land? Therefore ensuring you do not litter & reducing the plastic we use is a great way to reduce this plastic pollution. Also volunteering in your community by litter picking is a great way to help & we have litter pickers available in our village & amazing volunteers who do this. If you’d like to do that in your village, town or city, contact your local authority who should be able to lend out litter picking equipment to you

Day 19: support a wildlife based campaign. The Wildlife Trusts are campaigning for our political candidates to speak up about what they’ll do for nature if elected. We’re based n Suffolk, but your local wildlife trust will also have a general election webpage. At Suffolk Wildlife Trust, they have written manifestos for nature for each of our constituencies. You can click on a link on the Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s webpage, which helps you to write to your candidates about your concerns about nature, visit the page to find out more

Day15: Big Wild Weekend. Today the dog & I went running & saw some White campion & Hedge woundwort that the mower has kindly left to bloom. Hedgehog woundwort has been used across many countries in traditional medicine as a cure all: for cuts, boils, pain, joint ache, anti spasmodic & as a sedative. A recent study has shown it has antiviral & antibacterial action

Day10: Work outside in nature. Working outside in nature is a great way to add inspiration to your day. We volunteer for a local botany group by surveying a site for rare plants. Volunteering in this way adds variety to our day. The Red Setter is a great companion on these volunteering trips as dogs are also allowed on this site & he gets to sniff different smells from his normal walks

Day 5: World Environment Day. One way as dog owners to make our environment better, is to pick up our dog’s poo & then take the poo bag home. Biodegradable poo bags leak microplastics into the environment, so it’s no good leaving those bags in the environment just because they break down quicker than normal plastic ones. Let’s be responsible & take the poo bag home
