Our wonderful team tomorrow of Katie, Toni, Michelle and Ellis will be working if you need them, with Abi on call with Ellis tonight.

You may meet Anna between now and Needham opening as she is currently working with us at Bury getting to know how we work. Please say hello if you meet her!

🐾Meet the team - Anna 🐾

Anna has been a long standing client (nearly a decade!) of Carly's who came up to Bury to allow us to care for her pets. She rapidly became a firm team favourite and is, perhaps, the loveliest person on the planet. She has a background working as an ANA at the RVC in London, as well as a Canine Hydrotherapist, so you know your pets are in the very best of hands. Not just a cat and dog lover (although she is very passionate about those too) she is also a certified "crazy bunny lady" and loves giving the very best care to all the species that walk, crawl or hop through the door! Next year she gets married to her long term partner and they share their home with rescue hounds and bunnies!

It shall be a quieter than normal weekend in my household as both Barbie and Kenny the Dobie's are recovering from a laproscopic gastropexy (and Kenny's testicles "fell off" at the same time!)

Gastropexies affix the stomach to the wall of the abdomen, massively reducing the risk of bloat (AKA a GDV, which is a true life or death emergency that is sadly quite common in large breed dogs)

Whilst they have to be kept quiet for 7 days from this procedure, the wounds are so small that even 48hrs later, they feel fine , and they don't quite understand why we we can't go to the forest today!

Here is Nurse Dory the Daschsund, by their side as always, helping them recover 🥰

If you need us this weekend, we have the thoroughly lovely lineup of James, Lily, Ash S, Keighley, Rosie, Vikki & Ellis to take great care of you should you need.

🐾introducing Izzy 🐾

Izzy joined us in summer 2024 after graduating from Surrey Vet School. She has spent many of her summers with us over the last few years and so we already know she fits in like a dream. She's super personable, loves her patients and clinically excellent. She's also odd. In the way that she actually enjoys running. And not running away from tigers, or towards food stands, she actually likes to run for running's sake. She's done approximately 100,003 Park Runs. If that isn't strange enough, when she isn't running, she's playing dodgeball! Fortunately, she fuels all of these strenuous activities by being an exceedingly good baker and I for one very much look forward to the BSEVC bake-off because that is an activity I can get on board with.

🐕Introducing Lottie🐈‍⬛

Some of you may have met Lottie over the last 2 months. She has joined us at Bury prior to her starting at Needham when we open there in March. You will still then see her occasionally on weekends at Bury.

Lottie has joined us to be head vet of Needham Market and we are delighted she has come on board. She worked with Carly, Ayla and Ash S in a former job many moons ago at a practice on the Essex/ Suffolk border, and when we needed a steady, experienced and calm leader of the crew at Needham, we were super delighted Lottie wanted to come aboard. She's passionate about high clinical standards and teaching, and we know there is no one better to lead the team. When not at work, she shares her life with her 2 small people and her adorable Oats the cockerfloof who has been by her side for over a decade.

In case you missed it, we are currently looking for another RVN to join our awesome and talented team.

🐕 We have a very rare vacancy for an RVN. 🐈‍⬛

We are a fiercely independent and fiercely fabulous team of over 40, with a first class reputation for not only clinical excellence but also looking after our team. Our nursing team is, quite frankly, something to behold. And I challenge anyone to find a better bunch of veterinary nurses anywhere in the UK. We have cert holders in ECC and exotics, we have people who lecture at BVNA, we have ex-BVNA-council members, we have RVN's doing all the schedule 3 stuff. I know I am biased, but they knock my socks off daily.

We have a motto of "do great work, with great people, for great people" and we sincerely care about our team. We offer a great working environment where we all genuinely get along. We aren't perfect, no-one is, but we listen to our team and strive to be better everyday. Our very small staff turnover reflects this. Our original RVN's who were with us on day 1 are still here. Our head nurse Simon and Deputy Abi are incredible. We look after people under our roof and offer unlimited CPD, BUPA cash plan, certificates encouraged, monthly counselling sessions, 4 day week (+ time back for working a weekend), excellent clinical standards, and the best clients you could wish for. Our nurses NURSE, there is no reception duties, we have a great team of ANA's who support the RVN team, and 2 awesome SVNs.

Our RVN's have a friendly rota of 38 hrs a week over 4 days, with a mix of early's, late's, long and short days. There is a share of OOH but is a great rota with our 13 (+1 from this advert, and 2 SVNs, so 16 in total!) sharing it out, and our OOH is only for our clients so pretty comfortable.

In return we are looking for a qualified RVN, who has a real "can do" attitude and has the same goals of fixing pets allongside a great team. Everything else is a bonus.

If you are interested, please contact our super head nurse Simon at [email protected] with your CV and he can take it from there.

‼️Important notice‼️

We are currently having some ongoing intermittent phone issues. I am sorry that this post is not of our normal jovial nature but I felt it was important to post.

Sadly we were forced to migrate from one phone system to another as BT stipulated they would no longer provide any support for the system that has caused very little issue in the 5.5 years we have had it. They assured us this new system did everything our old system did and more.

Unfortunately that was all lies and the new system has proved to be nothing but constant hassle. With lines crossing over or cutting out mid way through calls amongst other issues.

We have now become aware that some calls are just not even connecting properly. You may hear something like “this number is no longer in use” or it may ring to never be answered because it’s not ringing our end. This is intermittent and I must stress that the vast majority of calls are connecting fine, but if this happens to you please do try again.

We can only apologise for any inconvenience caused and we are working hard to find a solution. Ideally one that does not involve BT as sadly their handling of the entire situation can be described as mediocre at best, diabolical at its worst.

Our phone system is not complex nor unusual. We are not asking for something that is not possible, our previous system did all we needed without fault, we have simply been mis sold a system that is quite frankly not fit for purpose. The hours wasted trying to get said issues fixed have been both infuriating and exhausting and as they fix one issue they appear to create another.

If you struggle to get through to us and your concern is not urgent then please consider sending us a message via WhatsApp on +447380307054. If your concern is urgent then please continue to try and call. Please note that WhatsApp is not monitored out of hours. In emergencies just continue to call us until you have success.

Many of you may will have met Hannah. She is one of our many awesome and talented RVNs.

Yesterday she lectured at the London vet show and last month it was at BVNA conference. She is developing quite a name for herself spreading awareness about all things consulting. From confidence and imposter syndrome to running diabetic clinics.

She is a true diamond and we are so lucky she joined our team last year.

Well done Hannah! We are so proud of you and all you continue to achieve.

Rose, and our equally talented Ellis and Hannah got all glammed up last night as they attended the BVA awards dinner. They were in attendance as Rose had made the final three of the young vet of the year award and was a clear cut favourite in our eyes.

Sadly, our wonderful Rose was absolutely robbed of the award and she wasn’t to be this year’s winner. We are so proud to call this amazingly talented superstar of a vet one of our own and can only wish more women were recognised for their amazing work in the veterinary profession.

Rose you will always be our winner.

Our equally wonderful team of Sophie, Holly, Jess, Kay, Lily and Nat will be working if you need them this weekend.
