Peacock's Petcare

Peacock's Petcare Local pet care service for Bury St. Edmunds.Dog walking, pet visits and pet boarding. SARAH PEACOCK, WHAT TO EXPECT FOR DOG BOARDING AND WALKS.
(1)

The welfare of the dogs in our care are our highest priorities. These rules reflect those priorities. Before outlining the more usual terms and conditions, it should be emphasised that all dogs with Peacock’s Petcare will be walked on fields, woods, riverbanks, beaches and forests, and will be living and eating in a home environment alongside up to 2 other dogs of similarly socialised dogs from va

rious households. Every care will be taken to ensure the dogs are safe at all times, but owners are reminded that this is a home environment with normal living going on, internal doors do not have locks and the garden whilst enclosed is still possible for an accomplished escape artist to get out of. If your dog is an escape artist and knows how to open doors then they would be better suited to a kennel environment for your own peace of mind. On the basis of that understanding, please find the following information and rules, designed to facilitate the safety of your dog and to ensure the confidence of all involved in their continued care. YOUR DOG

Dogs are accepted on the basis of information provided on the booking information form. Should dogs exhibit unsettling or dangerous behaviour not predictable from the information disclosed, Peacock’s Petcare reserves the right to isolate them during the contract period. Dogs requiring such isolation will have the emergency contacts called to collect them or a local boarding kennels will be contacted, and the owners charged accordingly. It is therefore important the information provided is accurate, correct and includes such potential behavioural issues as possessiveness, aggression, running off or prolonged barking. All dogs must have been vaccinated against and have annual boosters for Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. In addition they must be on an up-to-date worming, flea and tick treatment programme using veterinary licensed products. If they need their treatment during their stay then we can administer this with products you have provided or will purchase this at a cost relayed back to the owner. Under no circumstances will unneutered dogs and bi***es be allowed to board together, even if they come from the same home. Please advise on your initial contact if your dog is not neutered, We will only accept unspayed bi***es on their owner’s understanding that we are not responsible if their bitch should fall pregnant while in our care and on the understanding that they will be kept within the grounds of the house if they go into season during their stay, if we need to purchase sanitary products during their stay the costs will be added to the cost of the stay. We accept no responsibility for issues arising from dogs being unneutered. Should unneutered dogs exhibit unsettling or dangerous behaviour, we reserve the right to isolate them until the emergency contacts can collect them or a suitable boarding kennels is found at the owner’s cost. All dogs are exercised commensurate with their fitness and energy levels and their age. The dogs in our care are walked off-lead when in suitable, safe environments with agreement with the owner. Please advise us on the booking form if you would not like your dog walked off lead or if your dog has specific exercise requirements. Please be aware that whilst we take measures to ensure the safety of the dogs they may have accidents or eat something whilst out on walks and we cannot be held responsible for such unforeseen incidents. Bookings are confirmed on receipt of a non-refundable deposit. If a dog is returned home early on the request of the owner, the unused period of the contract will be charged. If a dog is returned home early on the request of the Peacock’s Petcare for any reason other than the behaviour of that dog the unused period of the contract will not be charged. Full details about deposits and cancellation period can be found in the terms and conditions and on the booking form. OUR UNDERTAKING:

We do all we can as far as is reasonably practicable to ensure the safety and highest welfare of the dogs in our care, and to abide by information given in the boarding information form. Peacock’s Petcare will make every effort to contact the owner for guidance should their dog fall ill or suffer an accident whilst in our care. If this proves impossible or impracticable, Peacock’s Petcare reserves the right to use the services, at the expense of the owner, of your vet as detailed in the booking information or if not local our recommended Veterinary Practice. All costs, fees and expenses incurred as a result of accidents or illnesses will be the full responsibility of the owner. Peacock’s Petcare cannot accept liability for loss, injury or death of dogs in our care. Dogs are kept separate when alone however do mingle during the day when in the company of the humans. As this is a family home they will experience life with myself, Sarah Peacock, my 2 adult children and any family or friends who come to visit. They can move freely around the house when somebody is at home, when alone or at night-time they will have their own area to relax in. There is no typical day with Peacock’s Petcare though your dog can expect a day in which they have breakfast at approximately 7am then after a break to allow the food to settle they would have their first walk of the day. Some days they could expect to join in with my lunchtime group walk but if this is full then they would be walked on my return. Tea is provided at approximately 5pm and a late walk is given before bedtime. There are plenty of opportunities to exercise in the garden and numerous toys are available on top of what they bring. They may find that they have a day out during which time it may become one long walk rather than separate ones. Peacock’s Petcare will not share owners’ contact details or information with any third party and will fully safeguard those details complying with GDPR regulations. OWNER’S UNDERTAKING:

Owners must provide full and correct information about their dog prior to booking and on the boarding information form. Booking signifies acceptance of these Rules. Owners must inform us as soon as is practicably possible if they require their dog to stay for different dates than originally agreed. We will do all we can to accommodate such changes but reserve the right to re-house the dog if needs be at the expense of the owner. Owners will indemnify Peacock’s Petcare for all costs, claims and damages arising from any act of their dog whilst in the care of Peacock’s Petcare. Owners are liable for the full replacement value of any item at Peacock’s Petcare which is damaged by their dog unless it was clearly caused by Peacock’s Petcare negligence. BOARDING LICENCING;

Peacock’s Petcare holds a Boarding Licence with West Suffolk Council AWL0018. Under the terms of the new law introduced by DEFRA, Animal Welfare Regulations 2018, the maximum star rating I can achieve is 3 star, this is because I am not a high risk business but cannot reach the higher standard required to be 5 star as I am not present on site 24/7. As mentioned above this is a family home and as a sole trader I am out and about on walks or food shops or other daily activities that would be expected in a family home. Risk: This is based on many factors; the time the business has been running, whether the council have had any complaints, policies and procedures in place. FINALLY

Any health or behavioural recommendations are Peacock’s Petcare’s opinion only and should be taken as such. It is the responsibility of the client to follow up any such recommendations with their own veterinary surgeon or dog behaviourist. Peacock’s Petcare reserves the right to refuse to provide services in respect of any dog at any time without prior warning. These rules may be subject to change at any time without prior notification. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM PET VISITS. OWNERS UNDERTAKING

Peacock’s Petcare agrees to take on the care of your pets on the basis that they are housed in suitable safe and healthy environments with the required amount of food, water and warmth provided to ensure their well being whilst in our care. Should any of their requirements run out during our visits then we shall purchase the necessary food or other goods and add the cost to your invoice. Should a special trip be required to purchase the item then travel costs will also be added to the bill. You should advise Peacock’s Petcare of anybody who has access to the property whilst you are away. All items that will be needed during our visits should either be left out in view or where we can access them easily, this including cleaning items and rubbish bags. You should ensure that your pet is in full health and has had their necessary flea and worming treatment prior to your departure. You should advise Peacock’s Petcare of any illness, treatment or concerns you have prior to departure. OUR UNDERTAKING

Peacock’s Petcare will visit as agreed, this will either be twice daily visits to provide breakfast and tea or one daily visit to ensure food and water is available for the pet. We will provide the food that you have left for us, ensure there is fresh water, give treats if required and change and scoop any litter trays. If your pet enjoys fuss and attention they shall of course receive as much as they desire. If your pet is to be allowed outside of the house or their cage then we shall ensure this happens however we cannot accept any responsibility should the pet escape or not return to the house. If we deem the weather or conditions too bad to safely allow an animal outside access during our visit then we shall not let them out for a run. We do not accept any responsibility for damage or loss of animals if another party has access to the property, if somebody else is present during our visit we shall ensure the essentials have been dealt with then leave.

Toto

You were the first, you were Peacock's Petcare, you taught me so much and grew with my children. You were 10 months old when we met, Thomas and Charlotte 10 years old. The 3 of you grew up together, you were family and our beloved baby girl!

My heart aches that this time has come, the chance to hold you and tell you how much we loved you is something I will cherish forever. Your body failed you, but your mind was still pure Toto to the last trying to play ball with us and insisting I dig a hidden one out!

We saw your family grow, Mummy and Daddy marrying and then giving you a human sister, P followed by a brother F and the love engulfed you. You even learned to cope with your extended family introducing more dogs to the Stanton world!

You and dogs, I swear at 15 months a flip switched and you went from a typical playful puppy to wanting nothing to do with other dogs! You were our grumpy girl and we loved you for it, you accepted those you walked with and stayed with and even found a best friend in Heston who you didn't just tolerate but actually enjoyed his company!

You are the reason I am so strict over my hot weather policy, the sheer panic we felt when you collapsed with heat stroke, it was only 20 on a cloudy day but the humidity must have been too much. The relief when you got better, and knowing I would never risk seeing another dog like that. Who knew I could run so fast let alone carrying an adult Springer spaniel!

Oh Totes, Totomahoto, the memories I could share would fill a book and I will cherish them, as will Thomas and Charlotte!

You are so loved and will be so missed! Run free beautiful girl, may you have all the pine cones and balls your heart desires!

Tim and Charlotte - thank you so much for letting us be part of her family, she is the best!

We had a busy run up to my 2 week break over Christmas.
I had a break up to Liverpool after the last post then on my return we had Enzo and Harvey over. The following weekend Murphy came in, joined by Lumi who then crossed over with Sid. They adore each other so it was nice that she got to stay with him before they ship out to their next posting.
I had my winter sun holiday then returned for New Year with Lila, Friday and Murphy joining me for the celebrations, aka all going to bed early and sleeping through it!
Murphy has been back a few times as well as Harvey bringing Digs with him on another stay. Rudi came in for a long weekend and then Lila returned for half term with Jasper joining her. Olive came in and I now have Sadie and Ted enjoying their break. Every time we see Sadie get more and more confident!
I've been visiting a few of my regular cats too as well as making friends with a new girl, Minx, who tipped me with a fresh mouse she caught, came running to me with it very pleased with herself, I tried explaining that I'm vegetarian bless her!
The books are pretty much full already for the year with just the tail end having spaces so lots going on!
Off in a moment for yet another wet and muddy walk with Sadie and Ted, the park is just a bog at the moment but the local fields aren't much better.

Another sad post as we say farewell to Max the Boxer, a gentle giant who crossed rainbow bridge to play with as many rocks as he can fit in his mouth!
A gorgeous boy, already a giant when I met him at 6 months old. Never happier than digging up big rocks on walks to carry around or chasing a ball in the garden.
We shall miss those flubbily cheeks and slobbery kisses!
Run free Maxymoo ###

I am shockingly bad at this updating lark.
As you can imagine it has been a busy time, even managed a couple of family trips away this Summer.
We had a busy Summer with lots of boarders, Billy ShihTzu was in for his usual early summer break, he was joined by one of the Bailey Cockers. Keeping with the Cocker theme after they left we had Ell and Pippa in for a long weekend.
New girl Meg the Jackador joined us for a week, keeping me busy playing ball, another new girl Lila the Cavachon then joined us for a long weekend.
After a family holiday we then had Digs come to stay, first of 3 separate stays over the last couple of months. Izzie and Millie were in at the start of September and again this past week.
The other Bailey Cocker and his pal Murphy Bassett came in, they regularly seem to end up in at the same time, they both have a similar lazy vibe too!
Young Reggie (yep another Cocker) had a stay too, wore himself out just in time for the rugby.
Bonnie came to stay whilst her human went to university for her first year.
Another short break was then followed by Murphy returning, Lila popped in for a night too.
Sadie and Ted joined us for a short break swiftly followed by Jeff and Enzo who became firm besties!
Oreo joined us for half term, as well as Digs either side.
Jovi and Ted came in for their first proper stay and were lovely!
We have just had Izzie and Millie plus Harvey in for stays too.
As well as all the dogs coming to stay I have been keeping busy with daily walks, a couple of the pups have had muscular problems so missed a few walks but hopefully they are on the mend!
I have had lots of visits with cats and rabbits, sassy Reggie and cuddly Candy plus a few who watch me from a distance with suspicion!
Got another break coming up soon then lots of visitors coming in.
Hope you are all keeping well!

11 years of loving your pets. Hard to believe but when I look at my now 21 year old children all dinky it must be true!
So many gorgeous furry friends! Helping dogs make new friends, and romances!
So many missed friends who have moved away or crossed rainbow bridge.
Love my furry friends!!

Sadly the lovely Kia has crossed rainbow bridge 🌈
She was an elderly girl who was stubbornly trying to outlive us all but sadly old age caught up with her.
She lived the good life and if she felt she wasn't she'd soon let us know 😄
Losing an eye and lots of teeth never stopped her from getting out there and trying to snaffle any food in her path! We shall all miss her bossy barking when she decided it was tea time or bedtime!
Run free little one but don't forget to watch over your brother Harvey and niece Diggy!

I am slowly catching up with uploading photos. It has been a busy time with lots of visits and boarders as well as the daily dog walks.
Lots of regulars back to board, Izzie and Millie, Poppy, Bailey R, Sadie and Ted, Jasper, Lumi, Bella, Murphy Basset as well as new boy Murphy Cockapoo joining us, Kia and Harvey seemed to be coming every week at one point, bringing their niece Digs with them for one weekend.
I have been visiting lots of my regular cat friends, Candy and Sylvie, Poppy and Phoebe, Hep and Bah, Bella and George, Alfie and Luna as well as Molly and Clyde and their bunny siblings Blu and Daisy.
Young Reggie is growing rapidly and making lots of friends, he is a quick learner and enjoys a run around on the field especially if he has a friend to chase.
Luckily the heatwave striking the rest of Europe hasn't hit us so the dogs haven't had too many hot days to contend with.
Looking forward to seeing more of my furry friends over the coming months.

We've hit that time of year. Be safe!

No excuses, I have been very rubbish at keeping this up to date!
I have been very busy lately but January was it's usual quiet period so that's not really a good excuse.
We have had a lot of stays over the past 6 months, regulars like Toto, Bailey, Izzie and Millie, Murphy, Sadie and Ted, Kia and Harvey, Jasper, Poppy, Olive and Ell and Pippa as well as the return of Abes and Ember. A few new dogs have been in for their trial stays before their longer holidays later in the year.
I have seen lots of my cat friends, bunnies and guinea pigs over these past months. I managed to spend some time with Chad before he crossed rainbow bridge.
The walks have continued with the varying types of weather we keep getting thrown at us, the dogs all reacting slightly differently to the snow, freeze, rain and sun!
I think most of the year is now fully booked for boarding and the walks and visits continue apace.
I hope you are all well as we head in to Spring!

Sadly this lovely boy has crossed rainbow bridge 🌈 Chad was such a chilled out chap, content catching the sun in his adapted garden that it was hard to believe he'd had such problems with his eyes he'd eventually had them removed. So long as he had sun, dreamies and lickelix life was still good. From my first visit to my last it was a joy getting to know him! Run free handsome!

Another piece of sadness.
The lovely 14 year old Poppy S crossed rainbow bridge on Monday. She'd been feeling her age and slowing down but sadly after a rough weekend she made it known it was her time.
She was such a lovely chilled girl, we enjoyed her visits and will miss her!
Love to her extended family, including her furry 'cousins' Toto, Molly & Honey.
