An eventful day ending in a rescue of me and the boys breaking down on a main roundabout about 20 mins from home.

So here’s me, engine mgmt light came on just before a major junction. I pull off at the closest slip road and the van rolls down the hill to a full stop at the roundabout. The van won’t start and I’m at the front of a queue at this mega busy roundabout sporting my flashy lights and hazzards searching for the aa road assistance number on my phone when a chap pulled up alongside and asked me if I was ok. My panicked face told him I’d been better

He drove around hooked up my van by tow rope to safety. No questions no judgement just someone willing to help someone else in trouble. There are not many people like that left - most people expressing their annoyance I was in their way and would delay their journey by a few seconds or god forbid a minute

So I want to shout out to this kind chap Dave. He has his own scrap metal business in Risby. So if you need any scrap metal taken away and you’re around the Bury st Ed’s area look up Dave in Risby

His willingness to help without question and ask for nothing in return tells me everything I need to know about his business and trustworthiness

the boys bladders were also very happy to get home ☺️

The Little One Pulled Up Lame 😞

Our baby boy, Blaze, was limping on one of his front legs. At just 9 months old, he’s already the same height as his 2 ½-year-old brother, Hunter, and they play-fight daily.

Having checked him over and pinpointed an issue having a solid insurance policy meant I didn’t even have to think about getting extra diagnostics done just to be safe. He's growing at such a fast rate and over compensation from soft tissue injury means lameness could just appear to come and go, I didn't want to take the risk of something sinister having happened to his joints

Growing pups, especially at this stage, are going through rapid changes, and lameness can sometimes be subtle, come and go or be hard to detect. It’s better to address concerns early than to wait and see.

Blaze was such a brave boy for his X-rays. Here’s an image of his right elbow. Look how much of the bone is still spongy looking and less dense than adult bone.

I’m sharing this as a gentle reminder of just how fragile our young dogs’ bones and joints are, and how critical it is to support them with strong, healthy muscles.

Blaze’s X-rays came back clear, which was a huge relief! However, the roughhousing with his big brother resulted in a soft tissue injury. (even when you do everything right, these things can still happen. Dogs are still fruit loops erm I mean dogs🙄)

Now, we’re in the rehab phase to help resolve the soft tissue problem over the coming weeks.

If I had ignored the limping or let it come and go, over time, that could have impacted not just his soft tissue, but his muscles, joints, and even bones.

Don’t kick the can down the road when it comes to your dog’s health. If something doesn’t seem right, get it checked out by the vet or other professional better to have peace of mind than to let that little ni**le sit at the back of your mind. Your dog will thank you in the long run.

I have a little back log of thank youzzzz
A couple of weeks ago I put a shout out to the Born to Run family for donations of rehab equipment so that in these tight financial times I can offer on loan to my patients.

These pieces of equipment which are hugely expensive - sometimes cost prohibitive, and can mean the difference between a dog being euthanased or given another chance at life albeit at a different pace.

The very first donation came from a lady whos facebook handle is Helen Scotty King.

Unbeknowns to me she is an phenomenal award winning cartoonist !
Helen Scotty King I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for kicking off this initiative - it means the world to me and I know also my patients - I hope your generosity comes back to you tenfold ❤❤❤

Our Story

As a Canine Massage Practitioner I am extremely proud to be considered among the elite in this field as a member of the Canine Massage Guild. Muscular injuries (strains) can produce lameness or limping, premature ageing, gait and postural irregularities or performance issues (even in the fittest sporting or show dogs). As well as changes in behaviour or temperament, strains lead to protective muscle splinting where other muscles need to step in to compensate for those not functioning optimally. This compensation may cause the formation of painful trigger points (knots) resulting in wider radiating areas of both referred and myofascial pain. Having studied advanced canine anatomy & physiology and four modalities of massage swedish, sports, deep tissue and myofascial release, I also offer lymphatic drainage, facilitated stretch, advanced myofascial release and advanced deep tissue. This results driven therapy is both natural and non-invasive. Witness improvements to your dogs’ mobility, gait, posture, range of motion, pain and activity levels in just 1-3 sessions. ‘Born to Run Canine Massage The Freedom of Movement.’
