These lovely ladies have been trying on their t-shirts for Race For Life this weekend.

Everyone in the practice has been affected by cancer and we felt it is small thing to walk/run 5k to not only raise awareness, but to raise some much needed funds to help with vital research.

If you would like to make a donation please follow the link in the comments

Have a great weekend!

13/09/2021

We are looking for a part time receptionist to join our small friendly team in Soham. We are an independent, family owned veterinary practice and need someone to help us in our commitment to provide high quality care for our clients and their pets. This is a great opportunity to work in a small team and really make a difference.

Ideally the candidate would have some busy reception/admin experience. Initially we will need someone to work 8.5 hours 2-3 times a week and some Saturday mornings.

No two days are alike and we need someone who is efficient, can multi-task, keep calm under pressure and still greet our clients with a smile! Duties are varied but include answering the telephone, making appointments, dealing with customer queries, cashing up and keeping the practice clean and tidy.

Interested? Please email your CV to Tracey King – Practice Manager at [email protected]

Closing Date: Friday 8th October

We have featured the amazing Ruby and Rowley on our page before and ask if you could vote for them - they are truly SuperDogs!

When I was 15 years old I collapsed during a Remembrance Sunday service that I was attending as an Explorer Scout. It turns out that I had an underlying heart condition which is what caused the sudden collapse. The impact of my fall caused my skull to fracture in multiple places and I was left…

Dear clients

Today is ‘Freedom Day’ - yay! But for us as a business things will not change very much!

We have a responsibility to protect our staff and their families (and you, our clients). Our teams are not fully vaccinated yet, and for the next month any close contact with a client that tests positive will result in our staff having to isolate and the closure of the practice.

So for now, call us on the phone when you get to the practice and we will book you in and explain the procedure.

I hope you understand and continue to show your support, we will begin to relax our rules as we feel appropriate, as our (and the local/national) situation changes.

Let’s stay safe, and help us to stay open for your pets when they need us!

From the Aquarius Team

Person Behind the Mask:
Tracey is our Practice Manager and can usually be found at the Mildenhall branch. She qualified as a Veterinary Nurse many years ago and likes an excuse to say hello to our patients and get her ‘hands dirty’ occasionally! She is pictured with one of her dogs Dolly the cockerpoo, who likes to get involved with all the outdoor scout activities (especially hiking and camping) and has another 2 dogs, 2 cats and many chickens at home.

The very gorgeous George came into the practice for his vaccinations - we were quite excited to meet him as he is breed the pat we do not see very often (especially as a puppy). He is a Clumber Spaniel and his owner has had to wait a very long time to get him! Welcome to the Aquarius family George ❤️❤️

Summer Holidays: Vaccinations
Whether you are staying at home, leaving your pets in kennels/catteries or taking them on holiday with you, don’t forget to check their vaccinations are up to date.
Kennels and catteries - many kennels will insist that your dogs vaccinations are updated at least 6 weeks before they are due to board. Most will insist the Kennel Cough vaccine is given to protect them against Canine Cough. Catteries will also stipulate that your cat needs to be fully vaccinated, as despite very good hygiene measures, the risk from cats housed in a relatively small area can make exposure more likely.
At home and on holiday - Canine Cough, Parvovirus and Leptospirosis are the most likely infectious diseases your pets will come into contact within this area, with more dogs walked in the summer months and little rain to wash the infectious material away, the risks of exposure can be higher. There will be different risks in other parts of the country.

Watch out for Adders basking in the sun!

Having recently had a case referred to us following an Adder bite, we thought that a reminder about the possibility of this type of injury might be timely. Adders are the only venomous snakes native to the UK. Varying in size from around 40 to 70 cm long, they can be distinguished from other, non-po...

Person Behind the Mask:
Meet Hannah one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses, we were lucky to have met Hannah during the first lockdown, she came to work for us for a couple of weeks and we liked her so much we asked her to stay! Hannah qualified at the end of 2020 (thanks to Covid delays) but is, already, a valued member of our team. She is pictured here with her very handsome Rottweiler cross Husky called Skye ❤️❤️

The Minnesota Urolith Centre have analysed more than 1.5 million bladder stones from veterinary clinics from around the world - wow!
If we have removed a bladder stone we will send them off for analysis so we can give the best advice for our patients. There are a range of specific diets and supplements that can prevent them recurring and the results we get back are invaluable in our decision on the best course of action.
We had a look at our collection of bladder stones - we have quite a few! 😁

The Person Behind the Mask........
Sally has recently joined us as a receptionist at the Mildenhall branch and will be the friendly voice at the end of the phone. We couldn’t get a picture of Sally with Ellie (her Hungarian Vizsla) so a holiday snap will do!

We hope you are enjoying the warm weather, we are certainly feeling glad to have air conditioning at work!

Heat-related illness - more commonly known as 'heat stroke' - is a potentially fatal disorder that can affect both man and animals. Understanding why it happens, and which dogs are most at risk, could help to prevent this deadly disorder.
