We had a great hoopers session last night and a huge thank you to Beverley Gale for taking the time to come and take these amazing pictures.
In one of my sessions this week I was working with a little dog who barks at people and dogs. We had an amazing session and he didn’t bark at any of the dogs he saw. We were on a wide pathway near a car park and there was a dog off lead. Straight away we got some distance so the dog I’m working with felt safe and happy. The dog continued to approach so we moved into the car park which was the only time the owner attempted to come and get the dog as it wasn’t going back to the owner. The dog I was working with had a sign on his lead saying he needs space. He coped extremely well and didn’t bark but comments from the owners of the dog off lead like ‘ you need to let dogs socialise’ making my clients feel bad even though they did nothing wrong. This infuriates me time and time again, this dog isn’t ready to have interactions as this could set him back on what we have achieved with him. Also these people would probably be the first to have an issue if the dog had snapped. Keeping the dog safe is so important so they feel they can cope with things. As I said to the owners you don’t know this dogs history if you don’t know what’s happened with the dog previously to make it feel unsure about things you shouldn’t comment. Reactive dog owners go through so much and feel very alone so comments like that actually make them feel worse rather than feeling proud of what they have achieved. Please be kind ❤️
I have had to cancel classes this evening due to temperatures up to 24 degrees. Please keep a look out on your emails and messages this week if you have a 1:1 session booked that is outside of the home.
Our next UK sniffer dogs scent detection workshop will be on 7th September at 9am this is suitable for beginners and your dog doesn’t need to have any previous experience.

Back to work today after a great holiday apologies for any delays in replying. ☀️ 🐩
Happy 4th of July to all my American clients.
Some tips incase there are fireworks in your area for 4th July. 🐩🎆 Fireworks can be distressing for some dogs, here are some tips to help your dogs stay calm and safe.
1️⃣ Create a safe space: Set up a quiet, comfortable area in your home where your dog can retreat to. Make sure it's secure and familiar to them.
2️⃣ Provide distractions: Engage your dog with interactive toys, puzzles, or treat-dispensing toys to help calm them and distract their attention from the loud noises outside.
3️⃣ Use white noise: Playing calming music or something like taiko drums can help drown out the sound of fireworks and provide a soothing background noise.
4️⃣ Keep windows and curtains closed: Reduce the visual and noise stimulation by closing windows and drawing curtains to block out the flashes and loud sounds.
5️⃣ Stay calm and reassuring: Your dog can sense your emotions, so try to remain calm and provide them with gentle reassurance. You won’t reinforce fear by reassuring them as it’s an emotion not a behaviour.
6️⃣ Consider aids: things like pheromone diffusers or sprays as well as body wraps or thunder shirts can help. If you don’t have these a t shirt or jumper can help provide comfort. Natural supplements may also help alleviate your dog's stress.
7️⃣ Keep them secure: Make sure fences are secure incase your dog gets scared and tries to escape. If you are worried about this taking them into the garden on lead can be a good option. Double-check that their ID tags are up to date.
8️⃣ Exercise : Ideally exercise your dog before fireworks are likely to start just so your dog isn’t panicked when out.
Try to make sure your dogs feel safe. If it’s something your dog struggles with try to work on it through the year to set them up for success when it comes around to 5th November fireworks 💥
I am on holiday until 9th July but will still reply to emails and messages just may be a delay if I don’t have a good internet signal.
🌞☀️🐾 With the scorching hot weather upon us, let's talk about our dog’s and their well-being in the heat. 🐶❤️
Classes were canceled tonight and 1:1 sessions have been rescheduled due to the heat. As temperatures soar, it's crucial to remember that our dog’s need some extra care and attention to stay cool and comfortable. Here are a few tips to help our dog’s beat the heat:
1️⃣ Hydration is key! Keep those water bowls filled with fresh, cool water at all times.
2️⃣ Plan your walks wisely. Avoid the hottest parts of the day, no dog died from missing a walk. Opt for early mornings or late evenings when the temperature drops a bit.
3️⃣ Offer shaded spots for when your dog does go into the garden or a pool for them to cool down in.
4️⃣ Watch for signs of overheating. Heavy panting, excessive drooling, rapid heartbeat, and weakness are all red flags that your pup may be struggling with the heat. If you notice any of these signs, move them to a cool area immediately and consult your vet.
5️⃣ Play games in the house like scenting as a way to use some energy but not overheat. Also offering cool mats and having fans on to keep the house nice and cool.
Remember, our dog’s rely on us to keep them safe and comfortable, especially during these hot days. Let's show them the love they deserve and make sure they have fun but keep safe 🐾❤️

Great work from all of the dogs in our hoopers session this morning. Good progression from dogs from previous sessions and amazing work from the new dogs. 🐾
We had a UK sniffer dogs bronze scent detection workshop this morning with a small group due to some not able to attend due to coming into season. With a small group it meant they worked even harder and they were all great and showed progression. As you may notice in the pictures a dog with a muzzle on, she is a gorgeous XL bully and we loved having her. I’m pointing this out to show XL bully’s are welcome to come along to workshops I just have to see their exemption certificate and as to the law they have to be muzzled and on lead in the workshop. She had to adapt to scenting with the muzzle on and she did a great job on her first time doing it 🐾
We have 1 space left for hoopers this Sunday please send a message if your interested 🐾
