Are you thinking of becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse?
Our nurses go through extensive training to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse and you can too!
There are two different pathways an individual can take to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse, which is either the apprenticeship route or the degree route - and each course has to be accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
Both pathways will provide you with on the job training as well as the theory behind it all, and you will be expected to complete a progress log to show that you are competent at particular skills before you can be signed off and registered as a Veterinary Nurse.
You will also be expected to have a set number of hours completed for your theory (in college/university) and also for your practical (on the job training).
Work experience is crucial if you are wanting to progress in this career. The more experience you gain working with animals, the better! As most pathways will want you to have a reasonable amount of work experience hours behind you prior to applying for the course.
Becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse is a challenging but extremely rewarding career choice. It isnβt cuddling puppies or kittens all day, although it is definitely one of the perks!
If this is a career path that you are interested in, more information can be found on the link below:
