Agility Antics and Trick Training

Agility Antics and Trick Training Agility Antics and trick training is a fun training club, run by an experienced trainer . She has trained 100's of guide dogs over a 25 year period.

Paula has trained guide dogs for 28 years and has successfully competed in agility, rally obedience, hoopers and heelwork to music with a variety of breeds. Our aim is for our dogs and handlers to have lots of fun and learn new skills whilst deepening the bond between dog and owner. Paula has been involved in training dogs and their owners for over 30 years. Paula owns an elderly crossbreed who

she competed in agility with and he worked at G5 in kennel club competitions. Paula is a registered judge of heel work to music and worked a Standard Poodle at Intermediate level. Paula also competed in Rally competitions, and her dog Bailey whizzed up to level 5 and qualified excellent at all the previous levels. Just before his retirement Paula and Bailey found the world of hoopers, which opened up another brilliant sport for dogs to them. Paula is a qualified CHUK instructor and a Platinum Hoopers UK instructor. Lucy came to Paula's classes at only 11 yeas old with her Springer Spaniel Floss. Lucy's natural ability and caring attitude shone from the beginning and within a few years Lucy was assisting Paula with the classes. Now Lucy is an instructor in her own right and was the youngest ever CHUK instructor to qualify and then topped this off a year later by becoming the youngest ever advanced CHUK (Canine Hoopers Uk ) instructor. Lucy currently works Zoe a Working Cocker Spaniel and they had just made their agility competition debut when lockdown hit, so they re raring to get back to competitions. They have competed in one hoopers competition - the Tri Score tornament were the Agility Antics Loopy Hoopers team gained 9th place in their first ever outing with a team member down( as Bailey, Paulas's dog had to retire just a few weeks before), but the team still smashed 9th place. Our other members were Erin and Lexie and Ella and Gizmo ,2 of our hoopers class members.

At 15 1/4 years and arthritic, I'm not happy walking Bailey far in this icy weather so with the help of our fab physio Jo, we ve got lots of stretches and exercises to do including cavaletti poles and walking on soft , unpredictable surfaces. Until the last 2 years, Bailey has always been a bit of a high drive nutcase, however, a bit of the old Bailey resurfaced when he tried to jump the pole ............ this is the dog that didn't want to climb the stairs this morning :)

Verity Hogan, Janet Jan Jan this shows some clips of some dogs doing hoopers. On the ' have a go' day we introduce the hoops, tunnels and barrels to the dogs. We do this by shaping so the dogs work things out for themselves, we reward with small high reward treats. Dogs tend to really enjoy this way of training. Let me know if you'd like more info or to book on. Thanks Paula

Merry Christmas and a huge THANK YOU to all our amazing clients from me and Bailey, Lucy Dann and Zoe. Also a huge thanks to WaggaWuffins Canine College , Jane, Barbara and Louise for making me so welcome. I've also loved running my classes. But it's a big leap from 'doing it for fun' to being made redundant and ' having to make a living ' from it. Thanks to all of you, it still remains fun , albeit a bit more stressful ;) :) . I appreciate every single one of you. Paula x

Last class before Christmas and what sports everyone was. Here's Kyle, complete with flashing Xmas jumper and faithful companion Riker. The Christmas game was for handlers to do the course too.
