Last week there was unfortunately another tragic accident of a beloved cat being victim to a road traffic accident, this is the 5th cat to pass away by car that we do visits for (thankfully never while they’ve been in our care) an important reminder to drive carefully on our roads and if you do hit a cat please have the decency to stop, see if you can help the cat by getting to an emergency vet’s at no cost to yourself and if the cat has already passed you can knock on a few houses as likely the cat lives close by and if not you can take to the vets to get them scanned for a microchip so they can be reunited with their owners.

In this case poor Biscuit was hit during the night and was left until morning (a kind passer by moved her off the road) the council collect deceased cats and throw them away in a bin bag without scanning for a microchip, if this had happened biscuit would never have got home and her family would not have had the chance to say goodbye. Thankfully Gizmos Legacy collected her before the council and scanned her chip and she was able to get her back to her family.

Biscuit was an adventurer, she would never have been fully happy being kept indoors only, she had lots of safe places to roam away from roads but unfortunately this night she decided to cross. She was one of the most loved and cherished cats I’ve had the pleasure of knowing over the years and leaves behind her beautiful sister Oreo.

We have been notified of several cases of horrific cruelty to cats in local areas. We would like to advise all our adopters, supporters and all local cat owners in Greater Manchester areas to please keep your cats in at night. Our thoughts are with the owners of these cats. We urge everyone who owns a cat to be vigilant and please share.
