"Just an update on Wolfie our beautiful ball of fluff. He’s such a sweet boy who has settled really well with us all, he’s got the whole run of the house and a 90ft garden to play in.

When the sun is out he lays on the sofa under the gazebo chilling out. Every day he’s always coming more out of his shell and he now loves his cuddles on his our laps and once he has had enough he goes to his armchair or upstairs on the to the top bunk bed snuggling up with the cuddly toys which he loves.

Wolfie needed a lot of love and reassurances to make him feel safe but all the hard work and dedication has been worth it as he knows that he is loved 🥰"

Updates like this make our hearts burst! Wolfie was rehomed from our Hertfordshire centre nearly a year ago, and is looking very happy. Thanks so much to Wolfie's owner for sharing 💙

Meet Rip who is nearly 2-years-old, and loves a good cuddle and lots of attention. He can be a bit nervous when he first meets you, but once he gets to know you he is a very playful boy. He enjoys nothing more than playing tug with his human friends, and fetch with his ball 🥎🐶

Russell Kane is coming to our Berkshire centre! Join Russell for his big comedy and book signing event on the 22nd March 2025 🤩

Laugh along as he takes you on a fun-filled turn around the animal kingdom, exploring a selection of typical and not so typical household pets and learning all about their wants, needs, and even cuddling capabilities. 😍

Featuring an on-stage animal/habitat matching game, this funny yet practical event doubles as an insightful workshop for children and families who might be looking for their own perfect pet - or just want to learn more about the animals out there. The show has been designed for pet lovers aged 7 + 🐾

Every ticket includes a copy of Russell's 112 page fully illustrated book, which he will happily sign for you at the end of the show. Add on tickets without a copy of the book are also available with purchase of a main event ticket 🎟

Please note car parking is limited at the centre, so if you're thinking of driving and parking at the event rather than getting dropped off, please make sure to purchase a parking pass. All details are available via the link below.

Meet Florence who is part of what we call the awesome foursome, Florence, Finley, Fergal and Flora. They are all sweet mini-lops aged before 3 and 4 years old, and are each in their own bonded pairings, Florence is paired with Fergal. They would love to either be homed together, or in their bonded pairs. 🐰🐰

Daisy is 1-year-old, and after coming into our centre as a stray, not much is known about her past. She can be a little nervous in new situations, but is quick to come out of her shell, and will show you what a loving girl she is. She loves affection, and also has a fun cheeky side as she loves to play with her toys! 😻

Join your local centre on the 22nd February as we are embarking on a fun 5k charity walk to raise vital funds for the homeless pets in our care 🐾💙

All 5 of our centres based in Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Cornwall, Essex, and Hertfordshire have planned their own 5k walk nearby and everyone is welcome, dogs too! All we ask is for a suggested donation of £5 to take part, that can be paid on the day.

Each walk will start at 11am, and you will have the opportunity to meet and chat to some of our wonderful staff and volunteers, as well as some of our rescue dogs who will be joining us.

Peter is confident and playful, and isn't shy to come over to you for a head stroke, however he prefers not to be picked up. If you sit on the floor with him, he will hop on your lap to have a groom! He is a very energetic bun who will need lots of enrichment 🥕

Our Story

The National Animal Welfare Trust rescues and rehomes over 1,200 homeless pets in the UK every year. During an animal’s time in rescue, we work hard to provide them with training, rehabilitative care and enrichment that will help them through a difficult period of their lives and prepare them for life in a new home. We operate a safe, non-judgemental environment and never stop caring.

Although we've been helping animals for 47 years, we are never complacent and constantly seek new, innovative ideas we can implement to improve our work and help more animals.

Open Paw was one such innovation; originally developed in the US, we're proud to be UK pioneers for the project and recently given a seal of approval from Open Paw Co-Founder Kelly Gorman-Dunbar as ‘a centre of excellence and ambassador for Open Paw in the UK'.
